Hard_Sir said: Well I must say I thought it was a bit different than the previous ones. I couldn't however understand why the hell is SHIKI referred to as he in the 4 movie, fansubbed by gg?
... Really my good sir?
If you had been paying attention (or at least read the synopsis of one of the movies) you would know that Shiki had two different personalities. And so on and so forth. :|
As many have said, IT WAS TOO SHORT! It was not much longer than a regular 30minute anime episode...TT-TT
Although this episode wasnt as action packed as the previous ones, it was still interesting to watch. It was one of the more emotional movies in the series; It was quite sad to see Shiki in such a state... On the other hand, Touko is becoming a better character in each movie I watch! I say her voice actress is doing a great job with Touko's different personalities. :]
I'm really looking forward to the next episode; it seems quite exciting!
Hmm. The level of writing has stayed consistent from last episode. Which is to say that it's worked itself out of the negatives, and can start accomplishing things. Still not exactly a fan of the series, but I haven't hated the past two episodes.
The pacing of this movie was the best so far. I wasn't constantly checking the time to see how much was left. The fact that it was shorter probably had a lot to do with this, and I'm kind of nervous to see that the fifth one will be twice as long as the earlier movies.
The fact that Touko could tell what Shiki's ability was (and even had a name for it) is weird. The impression I got was that the Death Eyes ability was unique to Shiki, but apparently not. I can accept that event as "whatever, maybe Touko made up a name on the fly," though.
I also don't like the fact that Shiki stabbed herself, especially after the anti-suicide message of the first episode. "Kill my weaker self," sounds pretty cool, but it's inconsistent with the previously established theme.
Overall, not a bad episode. Some much-needed development for both Shiki and Touko. I still don't understand either of them, but at least we're headed in the right direction. 6/10

1-It is not weird, Touko is a graded magician and one of the only 5 people who can use the true magic. This ability is not unique to Shiki but is very rare, also Touko didn´t built up the name.
2-She have the ability to kill not only physical things, but every thing, even abstract things like her otherself, in the final of 3º ep you can see that se killied the desease of Fujino without killing her for exemple, this have nothing to do with suicide.

Oh you, dirty red can't do anything like that. You're thinking about Blue, Aoko, her sister, she who only has one magic circuit but yet inherited the magic.
In before I'm killed by Touko.

How in the world would I know that at this point? I'm assuming you've read the novels, or else the 5th movie explains it. Besides, like sobzob pointed out, that sounds more like Aoko from Melty Blood/Tsukihime.

Yes, I know. As weird I think the ability to "kill" appendicitis is (with a knife, no less), I'll take it in with the series. I'm just upset that she essentially committed suicide after they made an anti-suicide statement in episode 1.

Well I read everything translated from type-moon excepect for the knk novels. But keep in mind that Touko can be powerfull

naikou said: huh. I was under the impression that she killed SHIKI-kun. Where did the "alien to her body" come from?
Watch it again.
SHIKI 'died' in the car accident. She killed the spirit that tried to possess her and changed herself to live up for the man within her who was lost.
the 3rd "episode" had more action but this one was actually pretty good in his own way, because the character development was the biggest part in here.
Development, yes. <3
I enjoyed this. It was so beautiful. Art and animation was top-notch, as always. I can really feel for the characters in this series, they're so loveable. Not as much action, but character/plot development made up for it, yes.
I would have given this a 10, if it weren't for the whole
"I'M SIIIIINGING IN ZE RAIINNNNN~"
If he had been singing another song (that he could pronounce properly) I wouldn't have laughed so damn hard. Kinda ruined the mood tbh.
It was confusing.. However, I think I can understand a little, just a little..
After the incident in which Shiki attempted to murder Kokutou, she was sent to the hospital by Kokutou, seemingly to have a hole in her chest, excessive bleeding caused her to fell unconscious.. However, there were no mentioning as to why it occurred? When Shiki failed to kill Kokutou after chasing him down the road, she broke into tears, then what? I have no idea as to how Shiki fell into such a condition suddenly..
Miraculously, Shiki managed to recover quickly but.. She acquired a strange ability or perhaps, she had that ability to begin with which explains all the gruesome serial murders she committed at the start. Like the protagonist of Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Tohno Shiki, she is capable of seeing lines and also the end result of touching those lines. In short, when her eyes turn blue, she sees lines all over objects of life and also seeing the objects of life falling apart into many tiny pieces.. Pretty gruesome..
And thus, Shiki ended up poking her eyes resulting with severe eye injuries, yet she isn't blind after doing so. Instead, she ended up hospitalized for 2 years.. During this period of time, Kokutou wasn't allowed to visit her because he isn't part of the Ryougi family. Instead, Kokutou drop out of college, got a job which was working for Touko, a sorceress capable of killing people, as well as creating humanoid dolls and animating them.. Aside from that, she also had an interest in Shiki, especially after losing her own familiar. Thus, she gave Shiki regular visits, getting to know her better, as well as adding a rune to her room at the hospital to prevent the wandering spirits within the hospital to enter Shiki's room to disturb her slumber. Unfortunately, the evil spirits managed to enter a corpse of a tattooed man and in the end, Shiki is attacked by a zombie. Lame, yet serious.. Although Touko arrived in time but her magic powers were ineffective on undead units which left Shiki no choice but to use those eyes of hers again, the eyes that are capable of seeing lines and how to cut a living object to many tiny pieces. After cutting off the fingers, hand, and wrist of the attack zombie, she severed his throat, ending the zombie in one hit. Pretty easy to understand but...
When the evil spirits left the body of the zombie, it formed a dark aura cloud which then entered the body of Shiki, possessing her but.. Shiki stabbed herself in the throat, exterminating the evil spirits of the hospital but.. Not just that Shiki didn't died, the odd thing was that Shiki claimed to have finally killed her other self. Was that other self the cheerful Shiki or the cold Shiki? More importantly, wasn't the spirits that possessed her from the hospital rather than the ghost of her other self? Perhaps, the term shadow self would be more approprite but then, this doesn't make any sense.
Shiki killed her shadow and thus, she didn't receive a persona. However, at the same time.. Shiki became stronger?! So, was that shadow her usual cold self or the cheerful one? Hmm... Judging by her attitude, I am assuming that the cheerful side of her was killed rather than her usual cold self. Nonetheless, this is quite confusing...
Next episode...
It appears that all 3 opponents of Shiki who were defeated by her had came across an old sorceror acquaintance of Touko who goes by the name Araya and that the three: Kirie, Fujino, and Rio were healed and motivated by Araya to go after Shiki but for what motive? Once again, it makes no sense..

Thanks for that post... your post fit the pieces together for me.
I at least had the right idea, anyway another amazing movie in the series. 9/10
cyruz said: However, amazing as always. I think the soundtracks are getting better with every movie as well. The BGM was great and I really gotta get my hands on the ED Theme.
Yeah, I agree, music is just awesome here. And I like this movie the best, story is fantastic, and characters are better, even if they are still this same Touko, Mikiya and Shiki, they are shown in other ways. I just love it ^^
I thought this part of the story was going to be explained in the last movie. Don't know why, perhaps because of the names? It was short, but really good. The next one is going to be very long though.
Another great entry in the series, I can't describe how much I liked it or if I liked the previous entries better, what I know is that I'm getting more and more interested in the story, and that every movie is fantastic in their own way. 2 things in common though: Superb Animation and Music.
I think I will eventually rewatch the movies again, chronologically, after I finish all 7, it will be a different, still great experience.
Woah, Shiki should of stayed long haired >_>
I'm also pretty annoyed that the storyline doesn't follow through chronologically in the movies - but I can still understand what goes where so meh..
And I must comment - I love the colours in this series. Her eyes look way cool LOL.
"Isn't life, by nature, a contest decided by a single round? However trifling the matter, it's not possible to return to the last save point by pushing some reset button." - Kazuki Hoshino, Hakomari, Vol. 1
This one had less action than the previous ones but the character development really made up for it. For some one who hasn'tread the novels this had some great info in it.
It was very short. I can tell this episode with few lines... seriously: Shiki is in the hospital for some reason, SHIKI-KUN escaped her body somehow but ended up in a dead body, Shiki meets whatshername with red hair who turned out to be some kind of magician, Shiki ended up fighting SHIKI inside a dead body, SHIKI penetrates Shiki after getting owned by Shiki with sharingan (lol), Shiki commits suicide to kill SHIKI but SHIKI dies only, Shiki is alive in the hospital. Add animation, cheesy emo scenes to make this series look "deep" and a great sound track.
Still much better than the two firsts episode. The third is the best so far. I hope the fifth lives up to the hype, considering it's the highest rated and is the longest of the series.
Yes, it was short. And what about it? It had brilliant character development packed into these 46 min and the fight, while short, was amazing. Besides, I finally understood most things that had left me confused in the previous installments. Speaking of which, I have to remember to rewatch this series when I finish it because I feel that I did fully appreciate the previous movies (especially the first one) because they kept leaving me with the question: "what the hell just happened?" Anyway, this was the best one so far imo. 9/10
