| Yep, the typical shounen trope where the old head from the previous generation has to give it his all one last time, basically sacrificing himself to raise the stakes... which, for this show, will actually work because up until now there have been quite literally none. Plus, well, I mean, Isao is like the only good character in this show, plus he’s just cool to watch fight in general xD Though, knowing this show, I’d expect something more like him becoming incapacitated and unable to carry on his duties, because him dying at this point wouldn’t really make sense for anyone’s development. But at the same time, like I said, stakes are needed, so it really does feel like this is it for Commander. Fighting with #9 definitely proved to be a fatal mistake. |

| Tears in my eyes man this was the best Kaiju 8 episode to this point. The ultimate measure of a man is how he responds to adversity. Isao’s concern for his daughter and men told me everything I need to know about him. What a man. The final stand trope might be done ad nauseam in fiction idc, when done right, it will always make me cry. I knew number 9 wouldn’t go down that easily, but I didn’t expect him to have faked out the entire defense force like that. Shows you how much he’s developed tactically where he could pull off such a feint. Nothing but respect to the director for giving absolutely everything in that fight. The faith he had in the younger generation to clean everything up and keep the country safe.. and the way his last thoughts were of Kikoru and the promise he made to his wife.. 😢 that’s how you get me to cry I’m so mad no one got there in time to hit 9’s core which would’ve ended this all, damn it! I’m hoping by some miracle Isao isn’t fully dead, but he looked gone there.. how are the defense force gonna handle 9 now that he’s even stronger having merged with Kaiju 2.. there’s still whatever secret weapon Isao had the force working on, but this looks bad. |

| Yeah, I knew No. 9 wouldn't go down so easily. The last episode made it seem too easy. Ig it's pretty much confirmed No. 9 can just clone itself and those other kaijus were just his clones and not separate kaijus like I thought they could be. Pretty underhanded tactics. I thought Isao was a shitty father and well he kind of was but I was happy to see him finally praise Kikoru. Then that SOB 9 had to kill him... It was a great fight and now at least he can rest with his wife... Assuming there's no chance to revive him after 9 absorbed him. I think it would've been really cool if Isao became a transforming kaiju like Kafka but sadly that didn't happen. It would've been pretty funny to see him in that situation after how much he detested Kafka in the last season. It's a shame that he couldn't spoil Kikoru like his late wife wanted. He was tough on her probably to fulfill her mother's wishes and cause he wanted Kikoru to become formidable. Feel bad for Kikoru. This was a great episode. Best episode of the season yet. |

| Wow that Hoshina talk show was in bad taste after this one, I get it from the standpoint of taking the edge off but damn it kinda hurt seeing Isao alive after we just saw him die lol. But yeah I had a feeling we might be seeing some upsetting stuff this season with the ED being more melancholic, RIP Isao, rest up big dog. His battle with the evolved No. 9 was very awesome tho, both visually and because of the fight itself, Isao went out in a laser blast of glory, I figured we wouldn’t see No. 9 actually bight it here but it really seemed like it was possible, Isao really put everything in that final attack, I liked how Isao’s right hand man, Akira, stuck with him through that too, his reactions really added to it. But I will say, I don’t feel that bad that Isao died, he was cool and epic and whatnot but he’s not a character I would cry over, he just wasn’t involved enough, but I do feel for Kikoru and those close to Isao, I think the emotions were high even if I personally didn’t feel that attached to Isao. Also, damn No. 9 really had a glowup huh, he went from looking like a weird alien to a terrifying monster, not to mention how he actually fused with Isao and used it to spook Kikoru, I’m not even sure if they’ll get to take this guy down this season lol. But I am looking forward to Kikoru and the rest of the Defense Force getting revenge on No. 9, I’m sure that’ll feel really good, assuming they actually do beat him lol, I’m not a manga reader so I have no idea (and please don’t tell me either). |

| I should have known that it was too soon to celebrate and the main body of No.9 would have been else where. And he was talking about taking that Kaiju power but not specifically Kaiju no.8. Isao fought like a boss right till the end. Mad respect for the man. He wanted to shower his daughter with love but he had to play the role of that strict mom as well that his wife wanted to..🥺🥺 I really hope atleast they recover Isao's body. Kikoru finally got to hear her father praise her for the first time and taking him away from her now would be too much that she can handle. Gaining the power of no. 2 , no.9 looks so formidable in both offence and defence. How does his core always get missed even after such massive attacks !? 😭😭😭 |

This could be one of the greatest DILF episode of all time, it reminds me why I love DILF character in the first place. People may think my comment is a joke but if you know Endeavor from Hero Academia you'll understand me. You'll understand how DILF character, especially a flawed one can deliver a climax episode again and again. You'll understand why this episode has so much low-frequency sound, because only he can deliver those big fat bass vibration to the audience.
Kaiju no.8 seriously need a movie (that's not compilation of the old episodes), and I'll be the first one to buy the ticket and experience those bass from the biggest speaker possible.

| Just one word MEH This was done 2478395 times in shonen battle story that has become so boring and uninspiring. You can just leave the episode in the background and guess by the screaming what's going on without even understanding the language. |

| Kikoru works so much better as the main character. Also kind of crazy to tell us mroe about the director as a character after killing him off. He was so undercooked as a character. This was a fun episode but had problems. |

| The death flag was very strong when Isao's name was in the title, so Kaiju #9 was going after Isao all along knowing that he had a slim chance of getting #8's power. This proves that the Kaiju are evolving faster than the defense force can repel them. We need the original crew from Kafka's group to come back because this group that Kafka and Kikoru have been assigned to has been underwhelming so far. |

| Of course, the moment an important character’s about to die, Kafka suddenly forgets how to fly. Also, Isao said it has the ability to track his location, so how exactly does that stop him from running toward Kafka and the captain? Such a worthless and stupid death, but I guess it’s my fault for expecting anything better from this. |
