Finally, the mystery of Kamome's suitcase revealed and it triggered Hairi's memories of his past. Pretty cool they also found a pirate ship so their treasure hunting definitely was worth the time.

Looks like their connection had more emotional roots than expected too. These latest episodes had classic Key themes.

Good ending to the first arc.
Guess we won't be seeing Kamome again which is a shame.
It also seems to be the ending for Umi who was there during the funny moments.
But we can looks forward to the other arcs now, i wonder who is next.

Really beautiful episode
Gutted that we probably won't be seeing Kamome again I have really grown to like her but it was fantastic seeing Hairi make Kamome's dream come true.

A bit mixed. I relived the emotional power of this ending (except for the first scene, because it should have been at the end of episode 5), but for me it lacks all the development that makes it impactful thematically. They cut what is probably the best part of the route, probably because Kamome has no direct impact and they wanted to focus on her. We lose the substance. Summer Pockets is one of my favorite works, both for its emotions and for what it tells. I had part of the contract; I would have preferred to have the whole thing. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about the change of media.

Otherwise, the episode answers a big question about adaptation: They're going to go back to the beginning for every route. Daring, but it was the right choice.

First episode I’m watching on time! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

1:00 and now here we go finally with the WTF episode ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

13:00 bruh, this anime definitely got that supernatural element to it now

16:00 BEAUTIFUL KISS SCENE FOR REAL THIS TIME! LET’S GO! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Well this anime got sad all of a sudden ๐Ÿฅฒ bittersweet. I was not expecting this at all. Felt like we just watched the end of Kamome’s route. Sad we probably won’t be seeing her again. I have no idea what to expect from next week’s episode.

The start almost gave me a heart attack. Seeing my Kamome vanish was really painful, but I hoped for an ending where she'd return. I doubt that's going to happen now. I'd even be satisfied with seeing her only for a moment in the future episodes. Why does this always happen with the girl we love and root for? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

We also learned about Kamome, her story, and her struggles from her mother—she's such a good mother—and then some other things from Kamome herself. What is up with this show? Wasn't it supposed to be a "Slice of Life"? So why are there these mysterious supernatural events happening? My dear Kamome, how will I live without you and the fanservice you provide ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

Finally, the kiss scene—Hairi revealed his feelings for Kamome to her mother, saying he was certain that he loved her.

It was funny when the cute little Umi caught Hairi with the panties, but her expression showed sadness. And now you're telling me I won't be able to see her anymore? Nah, I can't take any more losses. And what was up with Umi—why did she disappear?

I had suspected that we had a ghost, but turns out to be astral projection. Kamone skillfully dreams herself beautiful and vivacious while in a coma. A bit disappointed that best girl is not substantial.

Hairi's memories of the Higeneko adventure was from the book

Umi has got something supernatural going on as well. I suspect she is going to turn out much more important than so far indicated. Is she helping or even directing events?

“Thank you for making my dream come true and becoming my friend” ๐Ÿ˜ข man fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk idk how to feel or really what I watched, I’m so confused. So we became a mix of Anohana, Angel Beats and Shutter Island?? Was Hairi just schizoposting this whole time what’s real and what’s not?! Damn you Maeda Jun

So from what I’m gathering it’s a mix of all of the above. Kamome mom wrote a book about Kamome having friends and going on an adventure since she’s bedridden. Hairi read that as a kid, got a crush on Kamome and started having delusions that he was in the story with Kamome, but they weren’t full blown delusions because the butterflies actually do have some supernatural properties and seemingly can connect Kamome spirit across the world to Hairi so she really was with him? Think I got that right lol.

But Shiroha and the other people she interacted with noticed her I thought? Like when she came to Shiroha grandfather house he looked both she and Hairi up and down so are they also apparitions or was that just in Hairi’s mind? Pretty confusing and rushed tbh, I couldn’t even get emotional and cry because I didn’t know wtf was going on lol. But I would love to see an after story where Kamome comes out of the coma and can meet Hairi in person ๐Ÿ˜ข still best girl

Pink haired girl seems like she’s an apparition as well so wtf is going on on this island lol?

Somehow makes even less sense than VN, especially after credits. Great route, bad ending. Felt very rushed in the VN, same feeling here. They either had to cut it before the credits or have another episodes of content.

Kamome was an extremely likable girl, loved her route. They could have made it smoother if they skipped the ED last ep to end on the butterfly cliffhanger and give this ep a bit more time but that's my only real gripe.

Pirate girl being ghost pirate girl after all hit harder than I was ready for. Kamome's personality is (was?) so much fun too.

Wonder what Shiroha's grandpa really saw to finally let Hairi in back then. Was he just awkwardly holding up Ao's uniform and got let in out of pity? And did Umi just ...dissolve?

They had a kiss goodbye, at least.
A little song verse for Kamone's departure:
Kiss me hard before you go
summertime sadness
I just wanted you to know
that, baby, you're the best

Now about summertime: With the correspondence and arranging the event and all the Higeneko fans traveling, they have skipped to the end of summer. End of summer is also spoken by Umi. So, time logistics on the other routes? Do you go back earlier into the summer and run in parallel? Alternative Realities? Doubt that is is later summers. Some 'timey wimey' stuff?

First thing first, to all the people who said things along the lines of 'it's weird/nonsensical that the keys would still be there after 10 years and in hiding spots like this', you were very right. I'm not sure if it was completely clear from the episode, but basically the keys had actually been hidden fairly recently (a couple of years ago iirc) by Kamome and/or her mom.
Second thing, to all the people who thought Hairi and Kamome were friends in the past, well.... but don't worry, they did a good job leading you to believe that, I also fell for it when I played the VN and I was also like 'why do they not recognize each other' haha :)

Also, it's normal if you're feeling confused and are left wondering if part of Kamome's story (or even all of it) is a dream, illusion or reality.
It's completely done on purpose, it's written the same way in the VN, you're supposed to feel unsure about that, and also about what exactly happened to Kamome at the end (coma? dead/dying? dreaming? all of the above?), what will happen to her, and so on...
The very last scene of her route in the VN is

Basically, that was Kamome's route.
It's a story at a crossroad between dream and reality, a beautiful tale of a midsummer love and adventure.
It made me cry a little, it made me smile a lot, just like when I played the VN :)

Decent adaptation despite the shortcomings, I loved seeing this story again.

This episode had a plot twist that caught me off guard, I got emotional after realizing that Kamome wasn't actually alive. It's also really great how Hairi moved on and realized Kamomes dream, although it's really a bummer that my favourite protagonists appearance was kind of short lived.
But this kind of emotional Anime is exactly what i've been looking for, truly beautiful in my eyes

The line between fact and fiction is blurred. Sometimes when you read a really good fiction it makes you feel like you're actually in that fiction, or make you feel like you're actually know the author personally. Sometimes it makes you want to find a way to thanks the author for creating the masterpiece. And sometimes... you just realized that what you read is masterpiece AFTER the author was gone...

So it was all a supernatural adventure mixing fiction with reality? And Kamome was a ghost... kinda. You know, at the end of the episode where they introduced her, I was left with the impression that she might be a ghost or something but then multiple people could see her so how exactly does this island work? Like, even Umi just disappeared at the end wtf.

Well, at least Kamome is alive. That last visual with Kamome jumping into Hairi's arms was great, I loved it. But I wonder, did she really come back and is fine now? Just like that? Was there a timeskip? I guess this is the end of her arc and that's all the answers we're going to get about it.

Anyway, with what Umi said at the end (and her disappearing of course), I guess a reset is coming? Seeing how Kamome's arc ended it seems like the series is going to follow that path with the different heroines.

Farewell, best girl! It's going to be hard for anyone to top you but I'm really interested in the other girls and looking forward to finding out what's going on with the island and Hairi.

I am a little sad that we will not be seeing Kamome anymore, but this episode was so fast-paced that It didn't even let me take in all the emotions lol. We are constantly jumping from one point to another. Still felt somewhat satisfied because of the kiss at the end. But the ending was pretty confusing and will we restart things at start in next episode for next route? And also what's going on with Umi?

I'm very stupid, maybe I got the whole episode wrong. Who. Played the visual novel, can you explain this ending to me in a simple way?

What did I understand that she is in a coma in the hospital and does this astral travel with the correct MC?

But in the part where she says goodbye to him, it implies that she is going "far", so does it mean that she will die soon?

Forgive me English.

The only interesting character of the entire show, but she turns out to be a ghost or spirit of some kind ... having them kiss ... was bittersweet
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

@Domizeira I don't read the written material, but it seems like she died already, and what he is seeing is ... a spirit or ghost of some kind, connected to the suitcase / island / ship ... she appears and disappears at random

It's both and happy and sad ending for Kamome :( but well I definitely expect her to die or be already dead and it's actually true since she's actually in a coma and just died but wanted to grant her adventure wish from 10 years ago, it was heartwarming to see everything gathering to go to the pirate boat for her

Am i the only one who found this pretty stupid and forced, animation cool though
@P4UL_R No I completely agree and I was beginning to think that it might just be me because everyone else seems to really love this episode.

To briefly summarize what my criticisms are: I am someone who absolutely loved the first 4 episodes because they had a calm, heartfelt slice of life vibe that was done very well. Episode 5 personally felt a bit weaker but still okay, I was more than happy to overlook it if it meant letting the anime tell us the story that way it wants to. But I have to be honest, this episode which apparently wraps up the Kamome Arc just didn't land for me at all. I don't know what exactly is the problem but it personally felt somewhat rushed, emotionally flat, and everything became too confusing. I understand that this approach might have been intentional but I guess I just didn't like the way it was done.

And I know that this is just me but i definitely felt like this whole pirate ship subplot came off as a bit random instead of actually being symbolic or meaningful. I couldn't get into it because the emotional beats felt a bit too sudden and unearned and there wasn't enough time for me to really connect before I was supposed to feel sad.

Another thing that did not work for me was that this whole treasure hunt plotline blurred the line between imagination and reality without giving enough context or explanation so I was also finding it difficult to figure out what was actually happening or why it mattered emotionally. It straight up introduced fantastical elements but I would have preferred it if those elements had been grounded first so that the 'emotional' payoff would feel more impactful because right now I know I am expected to feel sad but I just can't feel it.

Maybe this arc hits harder in the visual novel since you would generally have way more time to explore the inner world of Kamome but I guess despite the best efforts of the studio adapting it, the sudden emotional conclusion to this arc came off as a bit forced and tonally messy. I am not dropping it yet though, and I hope the future arcs are better.

One thing that is kind of simple but that I need to praise is that in this episode they completely ignored the opening and ending to give more screen time to the characters and Kamome's story and even though they say it was a bit rushed at least they worried about this last part and I hope they do this in the next ones especially in Tsumugi's since hers is the longest and also in Ao's since she brings important information and since they don't intend to make episodes longer than 25 minutes I think it's valid to take out the opening and ending in the most crucial moments even if the cuts are inevitable.

@Marinate1016 Other outlets have reported it as 26 eps at least, though I haven't seen an official confirmation of it.

Still, it does line up with the current pacing to just about fit it all in within that episode count so it's most likely true.

Well, im currently thinking if i want to watch this anymore. I really liked the early episodes, but this supernatural stuff really kicked me out of this.
I seriously didnt feel any of it and were just annoyed. Especialy because it has too many plotholes and nothing gets explained.
It just happens and we need to accept that.

I guess the real kamome is dead, and she us a ghost whatever. Where did hairi getvthis freaking suitcase?
I just seriously hate it if shows just do whatever with no explanation. If this starts from the beginning now, im completly out. If i want a game, i just Play a game. But m not watching a story, just for it to be resetted 4 times, so the mc can have a lovestory with 4 different Girls...

Ill look into the next episode.. but this one seriously annoyed me. I even didnt care for any of it, because the supernatural annoyed me...

Finally, we have finished Kamome's route. I don't know what to say about this episode other than how it seems rushed, especially in the 2nd half of the episode. Maybe it's because I have played the VN itself, but the VN for me hit way harder than the anime. I wish they didn't rush, especially since the previous episode was a bit slow-paced. If this route had an extra episode, it probably would have been better than cramming it into a single episode.

On how they end the episode, yeah, I don't know what to say about it, it feels weird to have Kamome appear out of nowhere. For me, it would have been better if they had met each other suddenly on the next day after the events happened.

We will be meeting the next heroine, Tsumugi, next episode.

First 3 episode in Kamome arc - ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Last episode in Kamome arc -๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

So no more Kamome huh, so gonna miss her. She was so adorable. It's impossible to dislike her. And after finally getting her full backstory it hurts even more. Spare a thought for her mother too, her husband already died and now her only daughter in eternal sleep. What Hairi did also gave her some joy.

I thought this guy was special kind of dumb forgetting everything but no he wasn't. Reality and dream is kind of mixed. But from my interpretation (if the entire arc isn't dream) due to Kamome strong desire those butterfly made her dream come true in the sense she became the heroine of the story. So other characters like Ao and Shiroha saw her. And she recently planted those keys. But the illusion broke at the end of her adventure with Hairi like she said. So more like ghost. Umi may also be same?

The story isn't that deep and quite happy go lucky but emotionally it hits hard. Kamome life was really tough from start but atleast thanks to Hairi she got her one wish.

Loved their relationship, unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. But I fear all of the routes will be like that right. First experience with authors VN adaptation so me dk. For the first arc it was amazing. Loved Kamome and her story so much.

I'm not gonna lie but, I teared up. I wasn't expecting this episode to hit me in the feels. That kiss scene was perfect, you can't top that. Kamome's mom is such a good mom, she's amazing. Still surviving without Kamome. That doesn't apply to me though. I'm gonna miss Kamome so much. If this episode already made me cry, then I don't know what else is there to come. Umi arc next?

5 out of freaking 5. Best episode up until now. I'll miss you, Kamome. :(
