Wow, we even had a few lines of dialogue this chapter! I was expecting 10 pages of internal agonizing over the check before going to the toilet and continuing with the agonizing.

page 2 / cover page :
chorizo is practicing "the doggy position" ? lol , or "the wheelbarrow position" ?

- wimpy simp : ... 9100 yen would put a big hole in my pocket ...
- me : and NOW , simp suddenly starts worrying about money ? so far , he has given many millions of yen to main b!tch already .

- "the goddess-sama" in a flash-back : ... dont spend too much money on a b!tch , who you might not even get to touch / to hold hands / to kiss / to make love with ...

- simp : ... i need to buy a new suit for job hunting too ...
- me : lol , this simp is worrying about the wrong thing , because he will be stuck in his college for the next few years , because he is stupid and can not graduate .

i dont remember the context of this flash-back ? :
- crazy simp is yelling at her face ? : chorizo , you want to kill yourself ? look , next week , im gonna rent you again . so dont you dare say you will give up on living .

- simp : i want you to think that im cool .
- me : er no , wasting money is not cool . it is stupid , idiot , dumb .

- chorizo the gold-digging b!tch : okay , fine then , from now on , you pay for everything .

summary of this 20-pages chapter :
2 idiots have a long fight about money . then they buy 2 tickets . the end .
so thrilling , so exciting .
and just the usuals , just like the previous chapter , the goddess takes moneys from her dog , and she gives nothing back to the loyal dog .

A question to the people who hate this manga? do you y'all hate yourselves too? Ever piece has its hater base but man the haters of this one come back every week to read the next chapter then tell you why the manga sucks. What i don't get is why? A healthy person would just dispense their hate once, stop reading, then move to a new manga but these guys keep making themselves read it lol. They are more loyal then the fans and the first one to read the very next drop.

@Desolations Personally it feels like I've just come so far that despite the fact that it's garbage fiction, I can't help but feel just a little bit interested in how it will end.

@TruuMoo I think that's valid, usually when i ask the reply is just a tsunami of vulgarity. That reason checks out as I think most people experience that with something at some point. I did that with the game Destiny. Bad game but i invested so much into it i just had to see the end lol. Thank god I'm free from that.

I'm so glad she brought up the movie again. That was actually something really cool that Kazuya did. Nice that he's making his own choices now 😌

Lol but like...what's even wrong with Fragrant Flower? What did that even do to hurt you? The way you just replied I really can't take your stance any bit seriously, especially after I peeped your lists in return.

I don’t update MAL anymore check my anilist same username, also seeing fragrant flower blooms with mediocrity as your favourite romance had the same effect of making your takes unable to be taken seriously

How exactly is Fragrant Flower mediocre? And how is Rent A Girlfriend any better aside from maybe ironic entertainment?

A lack of interesting conflict, no stakes in the conflict, overuse of corny moments, a lack of interesting characters (besides Rintaro and Saku). Excluding the corny moments comment, Rent a Girlfriend excels in these aspects as well as having a lot more psychological depth and more natural emotional moments to name a few other points.

Interesting conflict or stakes doesn't necessitate better writing if the character relationships don't feel believable or organic, especially in a romcom where it's involving distinct groups of people who are previously unfamiliar with one another and are simply trying to understand one another better. Whether or not you think the characters are interesting seems more like a very biased perspective than anything. My own observation is that you simply find it boring on a purely personal level, as you only care for simulation, no matter how the nature of it is. I also don't see where the "corny" part is, either, like sure, apologizing a lot can be awkward, but it's the kind of awkwardness that feels more understandable and natural imho. That being said, I don't blame anyone for being slightly irritated by that, but it does lessen a lot as the story progresses on, and it's quite fulfilling to see even that little bit of change, too.

You say Rent A Girlfriend is "deep" cause we keep having to see Kazuya have mental spasms about every single little thing Chizuru does for over 300+ chapters? That's quite a weird observation and excuse to say there's progression. Everything is still basically at square one. And how are the emotional moments "natural"? Acting like complete nutjobs and saying comically forced and/or awkward lines certainly don't look like such in the slightest. The latest chapter more or less was a telltale sign to me. Who in their right mind asks for how many kids they want when they're not even officially together much less engaged or married? That being said, I CAN understand enjoying it for the ironic entertainment and chaos, though.

Well this turns out to be a more lengthy comment than I intended. Anyways, if you really and genuinely enjoy this, cool. I don't intend to trample on your personal enjoyment as you shouldn't with mine, and you had the choice to simply ignore my first comment to begin with in the first place.

Great attempt at trying to understand why Kazuya and Chizuru act the way they do rather than just dismissing it! Also if the main thing you care about in a series is romantic progression then ofc rent a girlfriend isn’t the series for you, there’s more to it than that.

My point about the stakes isn’t that they aren’t there, it’s that fragrant flower repeatedly tries to force some stakes e.g. the school situation, every tiny misunderstanding just to resolve it instantly within a few apologies, it’s just pointless. Of course my opinions on whether characters are interesting or not is biased, nothing is objective in writing. Regarding the apologies, I don’t have an issue with the awkwardness, I have an issue with the overuse. Not every tiny little issue needs a full monologue about how sorry they are.
