They just caught some bloke trying to steal a 15-year old child's panties, and he said his idol and motivation was Rudeus.

Link- https://x.com/evlxyn/status/1849915824984948935?t=w-aD2cx0Je_CeuRq2jkvdw&s=19

What do you think? Is this a sick guy who is wrongly blaming the anime? Or is Mushoku irresponsibly handling some of Rudeus' "bad traits" and normalizing it in some people's eyes.

I'm not suggesting anything, I'm just asking.
I encourage constructive discussion in the comments, this is not a provocative post

Bait post.

You're free to dislike Mushoku Tensei, but if you think he is a pedo, you didn't understood the show or his character.

And if that guy was indeed inspired by Rudeus that also shows he didn't understood it.

However it doesn't mean they have the same influence on everyone. That guy was mentally sick before even watching Mushoku Tensei

These mushoku fans can't help themselves. 15 yr panties is older than I expected though for a fan of mushoku. Jk

No media should be banned for some strange one off case related to it. The problem here is due to someone lacking mental sanity; not some media telling him to do it irl. If we ban mushoku for that we should ban all media involving crimes including violence. Silly idea

@Cielord ee bait bait🥴 no, it's not bait, you can use twisted logic to defend Rudeus as much as you want, it won't change certain facts that the vast majority of people know.

I don't even want to discuss (especially on the Mushoku forum), I just throw out news and you do what you want with it

It's literally just what the show and Rudeus told you.

and what about the experiences that he gained from his previous life? even If they were painful, they do make him a mature man. however in the body of a small boy, even if he's mentally mid aged i think it's logical that he'd go after young underage girls which is not right but the show is not about morals, is it? but but but, as a fan i do understand his actions and decisions but that doesn't mean that I would cover his immoral actions and justify them with quotes that the mc himself said. they are not literally universal truth or fact. the mc spoke that because he felt like that, he had realised the reason for his actions and thus he said that. but does it really mean it's the fact?

Idk man, the pedo part, maybe you can say that ain’t the influence of the character … as Rudeus hides his mental age so that there are no consequences for it. But the perversion that led to him stealing panties; that element is definitely normalized in Mushoku Tensei … as nobody seems to truly admonish Rudeus for that kind of behavior.

He isn't a pedo in the first place.

The perverted part is just a common anime trope. Roshi in Dragon Ball was such a person, and that was decades ago. And no, no sane person watching such a trope begins to commit sex crimes, if they do, it's on their part.

He isn’t a kid tho. He should have matured more and even if that’s the point that he isn’t mature the author doesn’t show enough self awareness to make rudeus compelling.

Dude only brings up MT once, say's it in English (no fan says it in english) and not even it's full name as if he didn't even knew what he is talking about, which makes me doubt he even watched it or even knows basics of it.
Overall, it's VERY mild compared to other cases Alex Rosen was involved with.

@Bookwormlife He is a kid, though. In this season, he is 15/16 years old. And this quote of his, is actually a sign of him maturing—of admitting what he actually is and not binding himself due to his memories.

@Bookwormlife Rudeus was a shut-in since the age of 15, so he never experienced adulthood or maturity, never had any proper education in the subject matter and all of his experience about sexuality comes from degenerate games he was playing, which is the entire reason for his condition and is definetely not an excuse, especially since everything wrong that happened to him (even being bullied, belive it or not) is totally his fault, let alone how he alienated his family and friends.
Calling him a pedo, while he is mentally still a manchild is kind of a stretch, though I will aggree that author overshoot a little bit with his degeneracy. Nowhere it is stated, that you are supposed to sympathize with Rudy at the beginning of the story and character development is gradual process, not a flip of a switch.

@Bookwormlife Saying that author should completely rewrite and retcon the story just because you don't like a single aspect is kinda imprudent.
And he does not just "lives out his fantasies". Definitely not after first season. This hyperfixiation on that trivial stuff, blowing it out of proportion and putting words in author's mouth is the cringiest shit ever. Story does not revolve around ecchi elements.
