@Cosplay_Joe So it's the season of the year. Every 3 months. But it often leads to rushed ending and poor pacing.

Then, how about shows exceeding 26eps?
@aurora_yuuki You mean all at once? They don't do that anymore unless it's like one piece or something and it's grandfathered in. But all new shows are only showed a max of 26 eps before taking a break.

@Cosplay_Joe Black Clover is the only recent instance I can think of that they adapted until it caught up with the manga.

Frieren also went with 28 episodes.

Mmm, episode 4.

cooldogmom said:
One thing I don't understand is why the current president said they were only in office for a couple of months.

It has only been just a bit over three months since the academic year began, and so did his role as the student council president.

cooldogmom said:
I think there's some importance in what the president said about a lot of people leaving the SC.

Yes, there is. To summarize, the students of Seirei Gakuen believe Yuki to be unbeatable. And even if some of them were to work as a general affairs officer, working alongside someone who you lost against in the election wouldn't fit right with them. They wouldn't be able to work under them without being overwhelmed with a sense of mortification. This is why Taniyama hasn't joined the student council. She was able to give up on her dreams because it was Yuki; she believed the Masa-Yuki duo to be invincible, the perfect pair.

cooldogmom said:
Overall, this anime was very fun. I'm not sure why so many people have complained. I can agree the SC arc was a tad too long, but its ending was fantastic. The visuals, music, story and character-building were great. I do wish it had a little more romance. 8/10 for me.

I'm glad you liked it. S2 will be primarily focusing on romance and character development, as well as interpersonal relationships between the characters. It will be better. Two of my favorite volumes will get adapted in this season~ o(*οΏ£οΈΆοΏ£*)o

That image I sent you - this is from V7. It won't be in the next season, unless Doga Kobo decides to do 24eps, the likelihood of which is almost nought.

GlucoseTranslations - is where I read the unofficially translated volumes. There are currently 6 volumes which have been officially translated in English. You can read them online, or simply download the PDF. The choice is yours.

@Cosplay_Joe And also, why does 95% of shows have a duration of 22-24 minutes (especially 23min)? They could literally add a few more minutes (which only a select few studios have the balls to do, like Shaft who are solely devoted to the Monogatari Series. White Fox for Re:Zero is another fine specimen) to cover more content from the source material. This would also drastically eliminate the percentage of cut content.

It's not so much as the role of the SCP, but what being elected means to the characters. Both Alya and Yuki want to prove themselves, so this relatively prestigious position is an opportunity for them to do so. I would compare it to the competitiveness in sports.

Crazy how at the end Masachika forgot to act confused and listened to the Russian "Look ahead", practically giving away the fact that he speaks Russian.
I could be totally wrong about this, but if a character is talking to you normally, and suddenly they switch to a language you don't understand, then the natural reaction is to direct your attention to the person speaking in the foreign language and look at them. I think this was Alya's intention of saying it in Russian. Kuze slipped up, but the convenience of the situation makes it so that 'looking up' was coincidentally the correct response even if he didn't understand her.

To add to that: the election is 1) a way to explore ambitions of Masachika and Yuki, 2) a reason for Alya to work closely with Masachika, and 3) character development for Alya from doing everything alone to working in a group.

@aurora_yuuki Well tell that to the TV networks which have the broadcast rights to the anime which would stand to lose quite a bit of ad revenue by doing so. Yeah, I wish they would do that, but like in America, they are way too concerned with bring in money to do something like that. Though actually, it doesn't seem like it's as bad as it is in America (case in point: usually only one commercial break during shows rather than a few.)

I don't know why people are hating on Alya all this much. This is a superb anime, all the main character, even the male protagonist for once are great, visually is stunning, the pacing is good, the final showdown is thrilling and exciting, and I mean, Sumire Uesaka talking in russian is something else...and I didn't even mention Yuki on purpose.
Watch and love this, that's all I have to say. I will definitely read it.

I loved it, I'm so glad season 2 has been announced. Seeing Masachika as the knight at the service of her majesty, who against all odds (see the scene at the end of the opening), would do anything for her was so satisfying and classy! Alya, who hid her feelings in Russian until the day she would normally do it in Japanese for her Prince Charming. The couple was perfect!

If only there were more appreciators like you. But alas, they are so scarce...

Alya is super-duper cute and lovely in the LN! She is super possessive of Masachika, even refusing to let go of his hand in front of his family members! She has plenty of character development after S1! Heck, the first four episodes of S2, especially EP4 is arguably one of the most romantic scenes in all of Roshidere! I won't spoil anything, you have to see for yourself! It's my favorite volume - V4. Which will be adapted in the first 4 episodes of S2 with the same pacing. I never understood the overhate towards her, and towards the series as a whole. Sure, she has a lot to learn, and she is very dependent on Masachika, but we need to remember that it's an LN adaptation. The development would therefore be slow-paced. She gradually overcomes her shortcomings and is now wholeheartedly supporting Masachika in the LN. She is extremely seductive in the later volumes~

Alya is the best girl in the LN~

First 2 episodes were pretty nice and easy 8/10

Then, unfortunately this turned out to be a mid anime in general, specially after second half with the prez election trope.

Don't take me wrong, I don't mean I disliked the other characters, but the only reason I kept watching the whole stuff was because of Yuki, she single-handed this anime in my opinion.

6/10

I will give a chance to the 2nd season, also because of Yuki xD But hoping I will enjoy more the anime in general compared to this 1st season.

No, no, it’s not like that. Because as content creators like myself know, the more ads you have in your content, the more and revenue you make. So in a 30 minute TV block, which almost all anime are, having more minutes of that dedicated to ads means more money for the TV stations. So instead of “just“ having five minutes to ads, therefore making the anime episodes 25 minutes, you could have seven or eight minutes, therefore, making the anime episodes only 22 to 23 minutes each, would mean more money for the TV stations.

It’s a little bit excessive sure, (sarcasm) but to play devil’s advocate, that’s the reason why a lot of those anime shows are only 22 to 23 minutes an episode, because the TV stations want to put more ads, hence making more revenue from such ads.

one of those rare good romance animes that hit just the right spot. nice comedy, nice characters, nice elements of mystery and of course great romantic elements. Its just the right place between the 'will they wont they' trope and confessing like adults. can be compared to oregairu in some ways and my dress-up darling too, little bit.

@Scootboi LOL. Bro forgot that Yuki isn't one of the main leads. The storyline of Roshidere centers around Alya and Masachika. Masha too.

There will be even less of Yuki in S2, and she'll undergo a major change in S3. Alya, Masha and Nonoa stans will be eating good, though. As well as one more character yet to be introduced to the anime.

"It's like dealing with a biting dog. I want to pet it and love it, but I also want to discipline it so that it won't bite again" - Love this line and here's hoping my man is true to his words.

Apart from that though, this was carried completely by Yuki and her relationship with her brother. The others were boring, though further development may change that.

The whole anime is actually... All right. I thought it was going to be worse, and the manga is definitely more boring compared to the anime.

I actually enjoyed how 'rushed' everything seems like here, whereas everything seems to be dragging a lot in the manga. That being said, Yuki and Masachika's edgy grin gets me hyped, despite of how overused that trope is. I especially love the part where Yuki thinks to herself that she fucked up by attacking Alya.

All in all, a solid 7/10.

I'm gonna be watching season 2.

damn, what is this opening scene, student council Death Note?

Yeah, more super-villain Yuki face before her speech. i'm HYPED. And then she slipped into one even midway through it, without a care in the world.

WHAT? Is she speaking her mother tongue? No subtitles? (i can understand somehow for context and everything, but...)

Alya did pretty good with her brutal honesty. Masachika, you won't get away with all of this at home. Your sister will pull so many pranks on you it will be unbelievable (and i would watch ALL of those).

Sweet ending between the main couple, but again... this arc isn't actually over even after season 1 ended.

It could have easily been a 9/10 if it had more romcom typical moments, even if i'm already aware that season 2 will happen (thank you, i had a ton of doubts about this) and with summer season approaching in the plot, there's still time for those. So... 8- out of 10, being a little generous. Not a single character to dislike, one that made me laugh HARD especially in episodes 2 and 5, carried the show almost with her own shoulders and was heavily missed for every week she wasn't in the picture completely. But the main plot was dragged for way too long and the full potential has yet to be exploited. Great main couple, Yuki best girl, but so many interesting supporting characters deserve more. Oh, well, luckily all of this isn't over yet.

There will be even less of Yuki in S2, and she'll undergo a major change in S3. Alya, Masha and Nonoa stans will be eating good, though. As well as one more character yet to be introduced to the anime.
@aurora_yuuki fantastic reason to not pick up any further seasons. Thanks for the warning

@RohitSagar21 You'll get more on S2. Or you can just read the LN.

Season finale. Alya managed to overcome her nerves to address the closing student's meeting. Kuze's strategy worked and Yuki has to concede defeat this time round. Kuze wants to meet Alya over the summer break to prepare for the election which Alya readily agree.

Why do I get vibes of Ayanokoji from Kuze in this series especially when Kuze strategies for the election?

Update: Season two has been announced!

Because bro is the nerfed version of Ayanokoji in the LN. S2 finna be so peak.

It is indeed. Maybe a nicer version. Look forward to Season 2. Hope won't have to wait long.

@aurora_yuuki just by comparison and some of the expression from Kuze kinda has elements of Ayanakoji. Plus its election so another similarity there.

Well, now that the English dub of this episode has come out, that means for me, this is the last episode of my Summer 2024 shows to watch. Time to see how the season ends

(Apologies in advance for rambling; I'm writing the post as I watch the episode so these are my live reactions)

Ok, so starting with speech rehearsal; noticing this scene is a complete 180 compared to their interactions in the first episode

Man, what intense stares from each of the siblings- the rivalry really is picking up in the season's climax

Student council president came in at the right time- that scene almost turned ugly

Is it just me- or is that coin in the air for a really long time?

"He usually acts like a nameless, docile background character" lol; otaku character gets the description right on the nose yet again

Phew- good thing they're just showing a highlight reel of the speeches; episode would be pretty dry if we had to sit through the whole things

Huh- considering the mask Yuki "wears" at school- it totally recontextualizes the speech she gave... kind of makes you wonder if the speech was as "fake" as the mask

The Russian speaking was a clever tactic; Yuki may have been thinking one step ahead, but its clear Kuze is too

Refreshing to see Alya not give a insult or namecall or backhanded comment after Kuze praised her; that trope is really annoying in Rom coms

Man, Kuze's speech is pretty funny... especially since I primarily know Aaron Dismuke for Dr Stone and I keep hearing the speech in "Senku's" voice, lol

The "final boss vibes" exchange at the end of the ceremony was pretty funny too

Wonder if we're supposed to interpret their total awkwardness over her saying his first name as them being totally into each other; guess that's the best we're going to get with only 2 minutes left in the episode

And with their promise to meet each other during summer break, that wraps up the season. Overall this was a great show. Glad this one stood out since there was a lot of mid shows this season. With season 2 confirmed, the good news is we also have something to look forward to in a future season.

And with that, officially wrapped up my Summer 2024 shows- onto fall

'nothing progressed'?

Not sure what's called progression in your book if you don't count the two main leads getting closer at the end as it.
