Finally finished Rahxephon after like a month or so.
Looking through the comments, I am glad that I wasnt the only one who was confuzzled and am appreciative to http://kenoki.com/nko/faqs.html

I felt that character designs were ok. The RahXephon and Dolems were truly dope and had variation. I enjoyed some of the ship designs even if they werent the focal point of the show. Certain moments in the show also looked impressive even if what was going on made no sense.
OP and ED, are just so god damn great. Hearing them just sends me back to a different time, a time when i was younger, when I was into some weird stuff. I thought some of the songs were nice.
My main issues tho are with the characters and story. As mentioned, I appreciate that helpful link to figure out what i saw and learn more of the backstory to Mus but I felt this was shit that should have been fleshed out in the anime which never happened. Show is also labeled as a romance and if thats the case, it was a shitty romance I have ever seen. I saw one commenter point this out, everything just felt empty. I will say some characters were nice but wished we explored more of them, I felt there were too many trippy moments that had me wondering what the hell was going on. This was a show that really took me a while to watch. Never heard of it before until like a year or two ago and saw that Izubuchi Yutaka had his hands on this. He has done several mechanical design roles from Patlabor and for the recent show Metallic Rouge so i think that was one reason for me starting this show. I definitely saw similarities from Eva in this show and wished they incorporated its backstory better. At least we get a more comprehensible end than evas though i had to figure out online what was going on.
This show did not resonate with me compared to others, there were some moments that i did like but often times, i was unhappy as I wasnt understanding what was going on. I think the show is a high 5, low 6 out of 10 for me

Are you fucking kidding me? The end of this stupid show is the Human Instrumentality Project reveal and the "Congratulations!" scene from Evangelion? After all that slog and mild effort to be not quite a 100% carbon copy of Evangelion and in the final episode they just gave up and started pillaging, eh? Good lord, this show.

The first five episodes or so had a great deal of potential but the show just rolls around in its own shit for a dozen episodes after that and by the time it starts trying to actually do anything (around episodes 18-19) I just did not give a fuck and it had nowhere near enough time to turn into anything worthwhile. Who could like any of the two dozen characters this show tries to juggle for no reason? Why would anyone care about trying to puzzle out the horribly explained plot when the answer is so insanely unsatisfying? This show and the people who like it pretend sooooooooo hard that it isn't just a terrible copy of Evangelion but it really is just that and nothing more. The idea that its actually about music and time travel and connections or whatever is a straight up lie. They dick around for 25 episodes pretending that Mulians and Tokyo Jupiter and all this shit they half-assedly made up was going anywhere and then they just end with 'uhhhh, yeah the goal of SEE_I mean Bahbem was to fix all the flaws of humanity by causing the Third Im-I mean causing Yeoltotl and going back in time to make perfect world". JEEEEZUZ CHRIST!

I've been watching anime for like 25 years at this point and never run into any big fans of this show so I know it'll never come up but man, if someone told me straight up that RahXephon was their favourite show because of how deep it is I would probably just mercifully choke them to death right there. This show is a test for how stupid and badly told a story can be while still tricking people into saying its actually great and deep. For anyone that gets through this steaming turd of a show and sees this post and feels the need to @ me and disagree, don't bother please. I never want to talk about this shit ever again.
