Best thing about season 1 was the opening imo, the new opening is waaaaay worse, at least for my taste. Episode itself was good though, as usual Oshi no Ko is at its best when it's about acting and not the idol stuff.

Ok…haven’t read anything…haven’t finished the episode…but Ai appearing in the opening…what the fuck!!???!?!??!!

Edit:

I understand that it’s just the opening animation…but this anime has reincarnation…so…

The opening scene is awesome, the studio didn't actually need to go that hard just for a show within a show but here we are ^.^

Overall enjoyable episode, the last scene though was so surprising.

Hell ya dat last part left a huge impression, don't fuck with the original too much lol even if its a play. Changing characters pretty much defeats the purpose of a story da fauck.

Behold of my awesomeness~

Just started season 2 after rewatching season 1.

I've noticed that the vibe is different. It was always seinen but the vibe of both the op/ed seems to be more on line with it.

There seems to be some stylistic use of colours here that I don't remember seeing in the first season.

Anyway, episode 1 starts with the play, then moves back to the rehearsals.

I'm not invested too much in the shipping wars to bicker with people whether Aqua should choose Akane or Kana, but let it be known that I'm biased for Queen Akane.

The direction was phenomenal with extra scenes which were not in the manga.
@Rexas420 yeah its so rare for series to have extra scenes in anime adaptations that aren't filler but literally enhance the source material instead of skiping stuff nowdays,

i remember back then people wanted as much extra scenes as possible but now people want to skip as much as possible and even skipping important scenes.

You can really feel how serious the actors are in this.

Akane's real cute with that pout especially, but Kana is still best girl ftw her being so happy seeing the author of Sweet Today was really cute.

Impeccable work once again. I like the structure, composition, etc. The lack of BGM makes things more serious. I loved that last scene of Abiko-sensei saying "全部".

The ED's visuals are beautiful, especially Ruby herself.

Can't wait to see more.

Really nice animation in the op. I feel like its just me but the voice acting is a little worse from season 1 but in the play itself I think they would surpass there acting in season 1.

Finally got to watch the show after this long. Everyone is still so gorgeous. Akane is adorable and lovely and tries her best to outshine Kana but it's difficult for her with that role. Everyone's giving their all, so it will be interesting to see when it comes down to the play in the end. The author is here and wants to revise the script. LOL

That "oomph" during the Kana and Himekawa rehearsal... if the rehearsal goes this hard I cant wait to see the actual stage play!

Good continuation with them working on their stage play adaptation of that Samurai manga, and now the author is here... but seems like she wants to change everything lmao, it's gonna be a mess for their schedule

Pretty good opening. I like the 2.5D stage from the crowd's perspective to show the entire introduction. I don't think they did that in the manga version—or maybe they did, but I don't remember it being quite like this. It's really cool to see how much they care about Tokyo Blade, not just the buildup to it. First time watching the dub as well. I think the only other dub I’ve heard is Ai’s, and I wasn’t very fond of it, so I’m revisiting this one. It’s actually pretty decent, though not outstanding—just fine, and I’m okay with it. Akane’s voice is fine, and I really like how Ruby’s voice fits her. Even though it sounds much more mature compared to the original Japanese dub, I’m fine with that since it suits her appearance and character. Aqua, on the other hand, sounds almost AI-generated, but that’s how I imagined him to sound, considering his depression after Ai’s death. Kana’s voice is good, maybe even great. I still prefer the Japanese version, but both are equally solid. Honestly, whoever voices Kana deserves more roles and recognition. I hope she gets involved in some of my favorite series, like Dragon Quest or the Persona games, because her voice is incredibly strong. The animation quality and art have significantly improved from the first season, as if they’re putting more effort and budget into it to elevate it beyond typical TV show standards. Watching this feels like they are adapting it for a movie, which I find incredibly appealing about the second season. It shows how much they care about this excellent arc, and I want everyone to get into it. I also appreciate how they create separate art scenes for the manga panels, such as character introductions; it’s quite unique. I'm pretty sure I’ve mentioned the opening in my own terms before, but this is what the first season's opening visuals should have been like to fit such a great Yoasobi song. To clarify, I’m fine with the visuals of the first season's opening, but I believe they could have made it epic and intense like this as well, rather than waiting for Season 2 to go all out. Abiko is portrayed slightly better than in the manga; she seems a bit more innocent and cuter compared to the manga’s depiction. That’s all I want to express about it for now, as I don’t want it to cloud my judgment on her. The same goes for Yoriko; her portrayal is also very strong.

Was excited to see the Kana vs Akane faceoff in the actual live stage play. Abiko seems like she will be interesting, and I love her VA.

She dropped a bomb right at the end there.

Akane stans eating good this season! Am an Arima enjoyer, but I like Akane even more now just from this episode alone

I was in Tokyo when all the promotional posters were plastered all over the skyscrapers and city walls, so this series is definitely special for me!

Great start to this one, focusing on the 2.5D play that Aqua and Arima are a big part of!
I'm Bruneian and I like anime. And Manchester United. And fat cats.

We didn't skip a beat from the end of season 1! Right into the Tokyo Blade arc it is. I'm already liking this new plotline showing a struggle of manga to stage play adaptation.

I think it's pretty fitting to have the mangaka of the prior live action tv show adaptation to show up to it as well. Through and through a sequel plotline!

Great opening episode to the season. Flashy visuals, inner thoughts, and clearly setting the groundwork for what is to come, complete with connlict starting cliffhanger

Will likely take a few listens/views of the new OP to get a proper feel for it, same with the ED. When the previous season had both that just hit really well, it's hard not slap on the favouritism. That said, it already feels like this different song style choice is intended to better suit the story of the upcoming arc. It's an action play and there are likely to be a lot of discoveries and reveals that drive the main plot, hence a much faster-paced song with visuals to match. ED is likely to going for a similar feels to S1. Slower than the OP to give a more sombre feel to reflect on all the secrets and conflicts each character is experiencing.
