Since when is she okay with removing her mask in front of others btw, am I forgetting something?

She should have been wearing a mask at the beginning of the experiment, and when she collapsed she would throw it on the floor, after that she simply didn't care about anything.
@1000-MAT @Embient It does differ from the books in that way but honestly, I think the version here in the anime makes sense still. You can interpret Nanahoshi not wearing a mask at first because the only person she was with was Rudeus, a fellow Japanese person she can be herself around without having to hide anything and is someone she has been working with over the months with these different experiments. After her breakdown and passing out, she felt lost, hopeless and exhausted to even think about anything and care until Cliff, Zanoba and Elinalise joined Rudeus in working together to find a solution and once she found a bit of light again, she feels grateful to the others enough to show her true self a bit more towards them as well. The mask worked when she was completely isolated and in control of herself but in this context, don't think it's much of an issue that the mask was removed.

The directing is just as bad as it can possibly get. I understand that there's not much monetary benefit to putting in much effort, certainly not to the degree of the first 8 several episodes of season 1, but why did they have to use the worst intern of the decade to direct it. At least use one of the more promising interns.

This is what I'd call a perfect episode. They adapted the Nanahoshi breakdown well and the post ED scene was great!

YEAAA THE GOAT RUIJERD IS BACK!!
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

I do wished they could have hinted at her stress built up better during previous episodes or something, even in the slightest like being down during the marriage party. Always felt she got over her despair a bit too quickly.

They changed how they meet from the books.... Very small change and only in the post credits, but I don't understand why.... In the books rudi and sylphy notice dark figures at their door, sylphy casts detox magic on both of them to make them lesser drunk and prepares for an invader, then rudi notices Aisha n Norns voices and Aisha rushes at him. Don't wanna spoil why but I think the way it plays out in the books is better for what follows... instead of rudi just being sober and carrying a passed out sylphy...

"Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable"
Nanahoshi's screams disturbed me, especially how "comfortable" the plot is currently.

Nanahoshi's VA, Wakayama, Shion; Bravo.

It seems Nanahoshi is falling into a depression much like Rudeus did in the real world. Rudeus realizing this helped her to stay afloat, at least. some promissing signs that she might get back to the real world.
I miss when this anime had the opening song play over the start of the episode.
Also, Ruijerd is back, so I'm happy.
And ir still strikes me as weird that Rudeus is getting married. Feels out of place.

In the most interesting place, lmao. Also, I hope the animators didn't suffer in the same way when they were drawing all these obviously not simple magic signs.

The escalation of Nanahoshi having hope with her summon circle to flipping out in pure anger and depression was startling, but you can't help but feel sympathy for her considering how hard she has worked on this project. Seeing her like this did invoke some bad memories of Rudeus himself, as he did his best to look after Nanahoshi.

Thankfully, he did the right thing in showing her summon circles to his close friends and all of their efforts did pay off in the end. Sure, they were only able to summon a plastic bottle, but this was a huge step for Nanahoshi, where she finally got her spark back into her life and how she enjoyed herself during the little celebration party afterwards was really cute. =)

The post-credit scene was great, too. Not only did we get to see Aisha and Norn once again, with the former latching herself to Rudeus to greet him, but they were escorted here by none other than the awesome Ruijerd. It has me hyped for the next episode, that's for sure!

i like her because she is one of the very very few isekaied characters in anime that is trying to get back to her world, that alone is enough for her to be a interesting sidestory.

Another great episode, Nanahoshi finally learned to ask for help and how to depend on someone, you can't always solve the problems yourself sometimes so it's better to confide with someone than bottling it all in, that's why they got a plastic bottle, anyways, good to see Ruijierd again after so long.

I hope Nanahoshi can make it back to her world, but I'm afraid that when that happens a huge disaster will occur, and I am not ready for that to happen.

I can't get over how the opening is just filled with spoilers. Why did they have to do us like that?

I really like how they show the other side of being isekai’d and absolutely hating it. Nanahoshi doesnt want to be there, has no connections to this world and had a good life in Japan. All of that being stripped away and constantly failing to find her way home definitely hits hard mentally. Feel bad. Her expression made it even worse

I was wondering how Aisha and Norn ended up with Rudeus and Sylphie, I guess Paul just dropping them on Rudeus makes sense lol, but the real surprise was the reveal of who escorted them there, I was thinking Soldat when I heard it was someone that knows Rudeus but no it was actually Ruijerd, and damn it has been a long time since we’ve seen him, got a bit of nostalgia there. I doubt he’s sticking around but it sure is nice to see him again.

But this wasn’t the main focus of this episode, which was Nanahoshi’s research. I’m glad to see her getting some focus again, but it was upsetting to see her die inside essentially, that freak out scene took me by surprise. This is an interesting side of Isekai, typically it’s rainbows and butterflies but not for Nanahoshi, she wants nothing but to go home and when her latest test didn’t work, she snapped, and I also appreciated Rudeus’ insight on the situation as he can relate, one of those times where his NEET backstory helps out. Thankfully tho, with the help of Zanoba and Cliff things took a better turn when Nanahoshi realized that layering the magic circles opened up a new world of possibilities, and we actually saw it work when they brought that water bottle into their world, rip whoever’s bottle that was tho lol. I’m glad Nanahoshi made a comeback, I was worried she might actually die there, so that scene of the party really warmed my heart.

And we got a different ED for this one, I’m guessing it’s unique for this episode, and it’s very cool that it’s an actual song from the 2000s, very fitting as well, Nanahoshi’s VA sounds great.

Nanahoshi's slump was finally animated. It was decent.

I can't wait to see the little sisters growth this next arc. Also, I'm glad to see another character joining in for a 2nd time.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Mushoku Tensei being wholesome and heartwarming? Now that's something you don't see every day, huh?

Good to see another side of Nanahoshi's character. Her VA did wonders during that breakdown scene.

And man am I happy to see Ruijerd again. Easily the only character I care about in this damn show.

i thought it was a bit of a shame the writer just glanced over the magical theory like that with generalized expressions to give the appearance of technical discussion. i felt that was rather lazy of them and detracted from the quality of the episode and world building in general, which was supposed to be one of this series strong points. because the fact remains even if they didn't want to research other fictional systems or even draw inspiration from the actual real life esoteric, metaphysical, and spiritual theories that all fictional magic is inspired from, they literally could've just done that one thing any person with basic literature skills does and just "made something up".

Mhm a Nanahoshi focused episode is nice to see and her mental breakdown was animated very well but more importantly Ruijerd is back!! + Norn and Aisha are going to join the gang as well.

Can't wait for an arc revolving around Rudy's sisters.

It must pretty hard for Nanahoshi. Since she is not a reincarnator like Rudeus, it must have been pretty hard all that time because she can't use magic at all, and she was sent to that world not knowing the language and all.
Looking forward to the next episode's wonderful reunion.
PS: Trivia: I think most people now know why Nanahoshi's chosen name in that world is Silent Sevenstar. But for those who don't know, it is the english rough translation of her name. Nana-hoshi (Seven-Star) Shizuka (Silent/Quiet/Calm), she just used the western naming convention and took the name 'Silent Sevenstar'

Enjoyed the first three episodes a lot, although this last one was kinda unexpected. Didn't know Nanahoshi was going to be important so soon in the season. Good to see the tall dude back. Let's see what the sisters can bring to this new season.
