So the answer was just to let him hang out with Red for an afternoon?

That's kind of underwhelming.

@runec He just needed a father figure?

Ljubo was more a sleezy uncle.

Episode 11

Van hasn't learned one bit from that quest with Red what being a hero is all about, and as proof of that he turns his blade on Ljubo, and before that he tries to kill the fairy dragon who is the "evil" that was the reason why that girl went missing that Albert took on, and then tries to kill Albert for defending it, once again not exactly what a hero is supposed to do. And then there's Lavender as she's quite a dangerous fairy and somebody who is just as wicked herself. It's a good thing Esta and Ruti were there to stop Van before he messed things up even further. And realizing that Van will never listen to reason that they have decided to fight things that they decide that they need to settle things the hard way at a place chosen by the Undine fairy. One more episode left as Red and company are out to put a stop to Van and Lavender as they have taken this whole hero thing too far in the wrong direction.

Just kill the little shit already, how many times do you have to let little Hitler get away? Even if you reason with him, he's still committed mass murder

@HOOfan_1 Yeah I don't see why they're bothering to try and redeem him in any way. He's a little sociopath no matter what you say or do.

Though for an invincible hero he keeps getting his ass rocked. Even just Esta beat his ass down.

Also, why is Ritt fighting Calamity Fairy? Yuti just proved she could straight up one shot Calamity Fairy too if she wanted to. Let her handle it.

Yeah, I'm sick of the empty codpiece too. Just kill him and put him out of our misery. But, no, they're going to try and save the lost cause. Considering how many innocent people he killed; it's no wonder that kamisama/blessing stopped talking to him. And everybody, but the viewers, lived happily ever after.

How many people did he actually kill though?

Some casualties in his followers because he didn't stop to rest with them?

@marklebid Seems he's killed a bunch of people or sentient monsters that were minding their own business because he deemed them evil.

Dang, I thought this was the last episode for some reason.

Idk why they are so worried about beating Van in a fight when we saw Red dominating him once already and now Esta has handed him his ass too.

Unfortunately this is one of those shows where they've made the mistake of thinking we actually care enough about what's going on that having the two girlfriends fight each other will somehow make things more meaningful. Also it's kind of hard to take Lavender seriously when she almost got killed by a stick.

@zkeleton It doesn't even make sense why Calamity Fairy is opposed to Van having more than one vague thought in his head at a time. Does she really love him that much as an emotionless robot?

Episode 12 (Finale)

To finish things off, Red and Van fight each other, while everybody else takes on Lavender, who has shown her true form. Red was waiting for the right moment when Van uses his ultimate skill, and with Ruti's ornament, reflects it back onto Van. The two get tied up, and needed to cool off before being untied. And as for Ljubo, he survived that attack. So in the end, that party finally learned their lesson just when it looked like it wasn't going to happen as it just required doing something extreme to get them to understand. And then Lavender's parting gift is a sapphire that Red had been looking for to craft the perfect wedding ring as they get married and have a party. It wasn't the smoothest of progressions and it looked like Van wasn't going to change his ways, but Red the Guide made it happen.

Final Thoughts

This is one of those sequels where it was hard to figure out what the point of having it was as as the first season had a complete story as is, and no matter what happened, it's all but certain to be a step down from it. And that's exactly the case here as the story worked when it was a gimmick, not not so much after the fact. And then there are the production values from this no-name studio, and that's also a step down from the first season, and Van was just hard to put up with as a character. And while the first season had great character development, there was not much room for that this season. That said, this season still did some great things as the show maintains its atmosphere and does a nice job integrating the former hero's party into the quiet lifestyle, all while storytelling continues to be decent enough even if the writing was a problem. It's a show that continues to do a solid job with telling two stories at once. In all, it's a passable show given the expectations, but something that certainly felt pointless.

Grade: C- (6/10)

And, yet again, another story where everybody lives happli there after. Only question was I thought Lavender died in the big fight. 4/10.

So, Van was just a psycho and his anti-psychotic was beating the shit out of him?

Let me guess how it ends.

They're forced to kill Van because sometimes people are assholes. Demis the evil god shows up and tells them it's their fault things came to this because Red stopped everyone from following their blessings as ordained. The demon war then heats up and threatens even Zoltac, forcing them to come out of retirement but with a goal of not just stopping the demon lord but taking down Demis also.

That's surely what happens right?

...

Oh looks like they talked Van into being a good guy and everyone had a barbecue. The End.

Well, that was a sappy ending. I'm not opposed to sappy, though, so I'll leave the show with a 6/10. It had the potential to do something interesting with the blessing system, but it backed off and let the system carry on. A very unimpressive show.

I don't think this season ever justified it's existence. 5/10.

I guess the solution to every problem is violence. You can beat people into being better people.

So her true form was just....smoke? That was pretty anticlimactic and rather unfortunate for her as now the physical logistics of her relationship with Van would be rather....difficult.

Man you guys are being generous with those scores. This season pretty much jettisoned the one thing that made the first season even a bit interesting and left us with just the crappy parts. It's pretty sad when the best thing about a show is a bit of fan service and we didn't even get any of that in the last few episodes.
3/10
A waste of time that I'm not sure why I watched.
