Are you a supporter of the suspicion that they are going to further put Gundam on the Love Live rails? Yes, there is a huge gulf between IBO's criticism of same-sex marriage and G-Witch, but from what I've seen, many Japanese people were glad that it moved away from Utena and idolized Gruel
IDK, man

i just am glad it is all over now, and i dont need to deal with the shippers

but i would be happy if they kill of more same sex ships, just out of spite, BC  of having to deal with the rabid Fujioshis and Yuri lovers while this show is airing.
also i am jelous G witch got the cool kits, and designs.
In this regard, yes, I also feel relieved. I can't stand it when anime makes me nervous enough to wait for every episode with sedatives lol. I even got more philosophical towards the end lol.

Judging by many of the comments here, it really does seem people were only interested in the yuri, less than halfbaked as it was, since they're conveniently ignoring the many, MANY problems with this anime. I personally think it gave a nice publicity boost to the franchise with how popular it has been. Gundam in my experience with people, had garnered a reputation for being a boomer show and that pushed many potential fans away. In appealing to a wider audience they did manage to break away from that, or so I hope. But I do hope they never do another series as bad as this one,
Well, last year I was shocked when I saw life and the amount of discussion so much dropped when people stopped arguing about ships here.. But anyway, I don't understand why people consider Gundam boomer a franchise. As the history of G-Witch has shown, even among the rabid fans of the brand there are many people with a rather millennial mentality.

No, and i watched G reco (g reconguista, as my second gundam series, i put this and G reco on the same level)

hell i would take Unicorn over this.

all style and no substance.

this is lowest tier

Hell i read a shit ton of manga about gundam (i did not bother to update my reading list, and i dont remember all the series i read and watch)

so far 0083 rebellion takes it for my manga recommendations (blue destiny reboot (2015) is a close secoend)

gundam dispair memory is more interesting then this, and it has a female protag too.

hell if you want unusual gundams, read  "Kidou Senshi Gundam: Burai"

more interesting with MS that can transform styled after the zodiacs

again, it all comes back to shit kit sales

i mentioned it earlier in the thread, but basically the first sign this series is not doing well is the fact that their first Alternate universe Main Character Mobile Suit is a p bandai

basically, ever since 00, whenever they launch a AU, they  have the lead Side story Mobile suit as a standard relese kit, this series is the first to not have it.

look at this quote:

the sales may have fallen off a cliff later in 2023/ season 2

ALso note it specifically mentioned Ariel, Not HGWFM Line

also how much of those sales were driven by people already within the community.

that is the only logical reason why i felt it was rushed, and why they cut the eps to 24.
and why move what would normally be a regular release to P bandai

Look at g-reco, it is also the only gundam series to have 26 eps and it was crap, with low kit sales and views

also bandai is only relasesing the bare minimum for the line up
the protag suit: Ariel, RE Ariel, Areal 2 electric Boogaloo
the other gundams: Pharcest, Schwarzette, Lfrith, Lifrith, lifrith, Drone Lifrith

Sesaon 1 Grunts:  Dilanza, Darilbalde, Heindree, Beguirx3, Zowort

ANNNNNNNNND that's it, with the clibarn at the end, no more.

I think i am safe in the assumption sales fell off a cliff, unless unlike IBO, where they also released like 2 side story suits as season 1 aired.
(Ashtaroth, and Ashtaroth origin i cheked look under MSV)

since they are makeing some very uncharacteristic moves for the series lineup

7/10 ending, 8/10 overall. Wished we had the sulemio kiss on record though, but hey at least they got married and lived happily ever after. The final act itself was power of friendship asspull, no idea what happened.

I don't like happy endings, I had heard that Gundam usually has character deaths but not even a single important character died in the end which was a huge letdown. All of Suletta's fights were super boring because she would always win regardless even in the end where she was piloting a Gundam which was affecting her. Worst part is Miorine and Suletta actually got married, I've always hated when a fake relationship turns into a real one. Kakumeiki Valvrave was so much better than this shit.

It's ironic that a lot of people gave the anime and the second season a second chance after the shocking cliffhanger in episode 12. But as it turned out, even with the transition to "edgy politics", the show still remained more or less family friendly.  Not to mention that lesbian relationships were an odd topic to focus on the importance of the family, but this is the future, so they will probably have the opportunity to have children with the help of SCIENCE.

It almost feels like a fever dream and it's over. I kinda wished we've had one more episode focusing as a long epilogue and the aftermath rather than the 3 or so minutes we got.

We all knew that the whole medical angle of Gund-arm would become Chekov's gun at the end. But it certianly wasn't in my bingo cards that Prospera would be one of the beneficiaries.

Overall it was a great ride with old school 2D animated mechas (I also love CG mechs, but 2D has their nostalgia charm) and charming cast with all kinds of flavors.

This has been an amazing ride, and my first Gundam to watch on seasonal. Guess I'll go watch IBO to fill in the void that this show has left me (which very few seasonal do on me)

I had high hopes for resolving the conflict between Suletta, Eri, and Prospera, but to my surprise, everything was wrapped up in a single episode. It's frustrating because some of the storylines introduced in that episode could have been effective if they were given more time to develop. It seems like there won't be another season to address these loose ends unless an upcoming event is being held.

Hardly, it looks like this is one of those Gundam shows where mecha disappeared from life forever except for working robots. Unless they want to do a spin-off about their kids or the students of Suletta. Well, or about both. They can always claim that there are still gundam left in the world and shit happened again.

@icefirestone23 I don't know about SEED, but judging by the latest announcements of new Gundam works (and even the G-Witch spin-off manga, they are really jumping back into handsome boys and seem to deliberately want to hide the Witch behind new content in a more traditional Gundam style. Question then. , why was it necessary to create G-Witch in the first place, they just wanted to make something one-off that would give the desired, at least temporary hype to the brand?

Cosmic era has been dormant for almost 2 decades. Sure you can mention the remasters and the kit releases but they won't drum up hype as a sequel. So if they announced the movie, it would sort of be out of nowhere. By announcing just at the end of wfm, people will be out for more Gundam and Gundam will be fresh on their minds. Especially women since all women yearn for the pretty boys like shown in seed. As for why make g witch in the first place, my guess is women x women relationships in popular in Japan. Like lyco reco, magi revo, love live. Lesbian porn is one of the most popular porn search terms. Men get turned on if they see a feminine woman trying to make out another feminine woman. It is common to see female seiyuus shows pda and flirt with other female seiyuus.

The ships were common in the 2000s with kira x lacus, arthrun x Cagalli, Shinn x stella, mu x ramius. Sunrise actively advertised it. People hated Yuna for marrying cagalli for the omni orb alliance. 00 setsuna was too cold and detached. Similiar for Mikazuki from ibo but he was too short.
https://youtu.be/JzEgY5L08r8

Nearly half the voters for seed were women. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2018-05-06/nhk-reveals-full-results-of-ultimate-gundam-poll/.131228

Also seed prioritized political drama first than relationships arose after that. Plus it had killer sleek sexy ms designs. The au is still the most popular in Japan 20 years after airing. So a lot of men like seed.

The problem with wfm is it alienated male Gundam fans and gay shippers are way more toxic than straight shippers since they will bring in identity. They focused too much on ships vs a story so people just saw it as a yuri show. Also making the girls lolis seemed like a way to prevent the show from getting more adult and pulled by networks.

it's finally over. God, was this a shitshow both as a final and a series. Too many ass pulls, terrible pacing and no fucking sense of the story being told. I pray these writers never work on another Gundam series again or at the very least learn from this travesty.

How the hell does shaqqid get blamed for Quiet Zero, but Little Red mom "walks" away Scott free. This lady was on a murder rampage all because she was losing her mobility? Then the stupid ending with A.I. Elan being the key to help Little Red? Literally, I have no clue what the hell happened in the battle scene.

The part that strikes me the most, if the show had started from the time, skip three years ahead. That seemed more interesting than the previous 23? episodes before (imo)

I will say this photo caught me off guard. but criticism aside. Yeah, this was badddd The fights and action scenes with gundams are beautifully animated and interesting, but the fake b.s pseudo politics, business, and love romance thing bad bad baddd.

basicly bandai decided to cut g witch in half (like g reco), and fastrack their other animation projects, after the dip in kit sales for g witch, after people were rushing to buy the ariel to get a impression of the line's engineering. .
also Bc the dip in sales they moved what was going to be a regular release Lifirth Jiu they were developing to p bandai.

Man what an ending to the best modern Gundam. As great an ending as we could hope for.

G Witch first cour’s slow build up really paid off with an amazing second cour, full of emotional moments, action and drama. From start to finish it was an emotional roller coaster and I’m very pleased with this ending.

Only thing that would’ve made it better is a straight up kiss between Miorine and Suletta, but them being married is good enough I suppose. It’s also kinda wild that Prospera basically got off with everything she did but it is what it is.

Glad everyone got a satisfying ending especially petra and lauda. I thought petra would’ve died in that rubble, but anime logic lol. Keychain Eri is a nice touch as well.

Will really miss this one.

So, do you think this show was really the easiest commercial bait to get people back into traditional gundam content in the most commercially appealing way possible? But it was taken very controversially as a result of high expectations and false ambitions when the show began to alienate the franchise's traditional audience from itself?

in a way, though not initialy, i just think sales after season 1 ended took a nose dive of a cliff. and when they got back noticed newly relased kits were not doing so good, and over all the line is not selling well.

so in a way to not waste time and money they decided to skip ahead if you will, and just get the show over so they can move on.

bc unlike IBO where almost every suit gets a kit, even the ones that have like 5 min of screen time. g witch does not even bother.

look at all the terorist suits, and the "Cargore" not a peep about them.

Yay! Happy ending.
Suletta raised the permet score to 8 and connected with Eri. Thus ending Quiet Zero and Prospera's schemes.
That data storm moment with Elan really caught me off guard lol. This man is everywhere.

Fast forward to 3 years and everyone seems to be doing well for themselves. Especially Guel, Petra, Nika, Miorine, and ofc Suletta. Not everything is perfect tho. There are still earthians protesting against Gundams and that is completely reasonable. Gundams have wrecked havoc on Earth so it will be hard to gain their forgiveness.
But overall, this was a fun show to watch.

A sweet ending to a clusterfuck of a second season. I'm glad our characters ended up living happily ever after, however the "3 years later" part should definitely have been a 25th episode or at least 10 minutes longer. Imagine being a fan of like, for example, Chu-Chu, only for her entire character to get seven seconds of shouting as the last thing you'll ever see of her following the timeskip.

in a way, though not initialy, i just think sales after season 1 ended took a nose dive of a cliff. and when they got back noticed newly relased kits were not doing so good, and over all the line is not selling well.

so in a way to not waste time and money they decided to skip ahead if you will, and just get the show over so they can move on.

bc unlike IBO where almost every suit gets a kit, even the ones that have like 5 min of screen time.
And how likely do you think it is? Can I share this with my friends as an interesting take?
very likely
for example ever since 00 Bandai would relase their alternate universe main character's mobile suit as a standard release

00: 1.5 gundam & astrea
Ibo: Hajiroboshi & asteroth (and other variants)
Build fighters: Honoo
Build fighters try: amazing strike freedom & lunagazer
Build divers: G else &shining break
Re rise: Core rize
(i dont mention UC bc there is alot of examples of standard release kits from side stories (GM striker, blue destiny, Delta kai, EX ES, ETC))

this is the first time bandai breaks the pattern by releaseing the lifrith Jiu as a p bandai.
the design was announced on march but the kit is announced in May at the earliest point and on P-bandai.
hence my reasonable estimation on when they noticed the dip in sales. around that time.

besides that there is bandai's quarterly earning report
i
t spesificly calls out the ariel as the best selling Main protag MS kit, for inital sales, but the report does not say the entire line up is one with the highest sales.

also in this article
also more discrepancies arise when the report fails to mention/ state how many kit sales Gwitch is exactly responsible for, like say IBO VS g-witch, and sales were already at thier peak, even before g witch was announced. (2020-2021 sales were already on the up and up, so 2022-23 is we dunno)

these two thing happening in march at the same time of the p bandai release seems odd and suspect, and is not the actions of a company confident with this model selling.
since p bandai is a site where bandai can sell kits to Barely make a profit (or atleast sell to make enough of a profit)
the only (very ) likely way to explain the large initial sales, is like comic book Issue 1 reboots
where people buy them to check it out, after the initial sales, no one buys them and sales dip.

not to mention bandai's markets

from most amount of gundam bases ( the more bases they have the larger the priority on the market they are.)
japan (12), south korea (around 10), china (3 but they have a statue), thailand(1), taiwan(1)
and they have large swathes of markets in ASIA

the US is not a big market for them (i think so far since they dont have a GB base)

also countries with the problem with the big gay:
south korea, and china are the main ones
smaller countries are malaysia and indonesia (they are islam so i think you know, they care bc they host GBWC, there so some level of their sales must come from there)

so i think the line generally did not sell well in these countries, hence lower sales, lower confidance in the series, and lower profits
and at some point they decided to cut thier losses and halved the ep count bc sales are dwindling.

and they released the bare minimum kits for the line up:

the protag suit: Ariel, RE Ariel, Areal 2 electric Boogaloo

the other gundams: Pharcest, Schwarzette, Lfrith, Lifrith, lifrith, Drone Lifrith

Sesaon 1 Grunts:  Dilanza, Darilbalde, Heindree, Beguirx3, Zowort

ANNNNNNNNND that's it, with the clibarn at the end, no more.

also again, Yuri shippers Are usually broke anyway so not much returns there.
again this is alot of speculation (and alot of Adhocking on my part, along with speculations due to Bandai breaking from pre established patterns)

Wow, what an ending. Being my first Gundam anime (not counting Part 1 since they're the same), this was very good, at least the earliest episodes.

I definitely enjoyed how those old ladies finally got what they deserved. Very satisfying.

Though I am still confused about how things went down (Gundamn fusion, particle emission (how far is that planetary thingy for the particles to reach it within seconds), Ericht surviving, etc), the ending was great, albeit extremely rushed like no one's business. Like damn, so many things happened in one episode, so many a**pulls.

The ship sailed, which was fine, I guess, and everyone lived happily ever after. The end. I'm giving it an 8 since the other episodes' scores were good, making the average  8.4.

Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load.

What do they deserve? In fact, none of the antagonists in this show received punishment for their crimes except for Shaddiq, who simply took all the blame as a mobster.

Well, this was a mess.

At least it had some entertaining fights, which are also lacking in quantity. No idea what were they thinking when managing the pacing for this, first season was very slow with little enough substance to justify it, while this second half was rushed to the very end.

Not my cup of tea, this latest Gundam, I'm disappointed. I guess the demographic for this one is younger in age too, I may prefer the more mature ones.

And for a Gundam making allusions to Ikuhara anime works, this was especially disappointing for how shallow it has been in its overarching themes and elements, I feel baited.

6/10, and I think I'm being generous.

I totally agree with your opinion on this.

i mean, look at the luke warm Yuri, i think they were hoping to pass it off as "BFFS" with language barriers stopping any TL changes (or censorship) from becoming clear., but alot of indonesians are multi lingual, so are Malaysians

Ibo did well and alot of indonesians like mika (he has a harem after all)

also i think they were hoping the US market would make up sales/ pick up the slack. once it is clear they wont (BC AGAIN Western shippers and tourists are usually broke), they went back to thier old market.

of men.

and again Gundam is known as a primarily boy franchise, having a girl protag in the first place would be a huge turn off for young new boy fans of any nationality.

though honestly it is not the first time bandai made poor (questionable) financial decisions.

Being too smug. I just hate it when they just sat around and everything went their way. They're responsible for the "original" Elan being killed, and I "biasedly" found them guilty of being TOO smug.

This series could really use another season, its ending certainly felt rushed. As I posted in season one discussion, pacing was already an issue in these earlier episodes, and this season has only gotten worse. Slow build up is fine if there are enough episodes to properly tell a story, but here we had slow build up and then everything happened so fast. It's clear that a lot of plot points had to be dropped. Some characters like Chuatury and Elan didn't really have much to do in the end. Conflicts between Earthians and Spacians, various corporations etc., suddenly had to take a backseat. It just felt there were more stories to be told, but because they spent so much of the first season on duels in a school setting, they had to cut corners.

Well, Suletta's mother and Miorine's father are also guilty of military and political crimes, perhaps even more. But both of them not only walk away from any responsibility, but even actually receive a complete forgiveness as the "kazoku" of the protagonists. Which creates a number of rather problematic implications, especially considering that both girls ended up together in the last place thanks to them.

People speculate that this was an attempt to sell the show to China and other countries with homophobic censorship, as well as not to piss off too much those who already complained about the departure from the formula.

So Bandai really overestimated the girls' interest in the franchise and didn't realize that they really wanted boys? If that's the case then it's really funny because last month I got attacked by a guy who questioned what I said about Bandai's controversial decisions, saying that "they sell a lot of gunpla, so any decisions in G-Witch are good, because what money brings. It turns out I was really right?
