I heard and assume it's a sequel? It doesn't hurt to watch the original either.

It is not a sequel or spinoff so you don't need to watch the original, but I highly recommend watching it.

i heard that it is not a continuation of the original show. it is retelling of the story revolving around the MC, Vash the stampede with CGI.

you should definitely watch the original trigun because it's awesome and also a classic. i finished it some days ago and now i want to watch other classics like cowboy bebop and neon genesis evangelion

It’s not really connected to the original series. It’s not a sequel or anything. I recommend watching the original tho bc it’s amazing. I don’t think this will be as good either

The original version is not that long. I would just watch both.

Stampede is a reboot, meaning its a clean slate without ties to the past story of the 90's anime. However, it can be interesting to watch both and compare the differences ^_^

Watch the original first. I'm almost certain this will be a trainwreck of epic proportions.

from what i know, this is a reboot, aka u dont have to watch the original. however, if u do plan to watch the original (which i totally recommend), DONT watch this first, as it spoils some backstory in the first episode that was revealed much later in the original

I haven't seen the original and I didn't have any trouble understanding it. You should be fine.

Well, it's not a sequel. It's a remake. So I think it's safe to say it's fine to watch this. Plus, I think the new style, vibes, and polished backgrounds can be pretty eye appealing.

I've watched the first episode of new version. CG and background look amazing. The story seems interesting too.

You shouldn't as it's inferior to the original by far.

Trigun Stampede all over the author's legacy, Ready, Steady, Roll? No, Ready, Steady Troll. Trololo lo lo lo lolo lo lo lol lo. Studio Orange is more of a traitor than Jeremiah Gottwald from Code Geass. They Replaced Milly with Robert De "Fucking" Niro, those maniacs.

Stampede appears to very much be its own thing. An alternate take on Trigun, so you should be able to watch it without seeing the 98 show or reading the manga.

Yes. Not sure how faithful it would be to the original (actually, I don't know how faithful the original anime is to the manga in the first place), but at least so far the only change is how one of the side characters met. The order of events is different. The original Trigun was made in an age where pretty much every show had the structure of villains of the week for the first half, before getting main arcs in the second half (think Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Witch Hunter Robin, etc.). They did away with this structure with this retelling, but time will tell if the dramatic effect is made better or worse. But in general, I think this show was made so that someone could watch it without watching the original.

I started watching it without prior knowledge about the plot known from the original anime adaptation, and without reading many chapters of the source material, and I had a lot of fun. Nothing has left me confused. So yeah, you can easily watch and enjoy Trigun Stampede, even if you do enter its world without any previous experience with the franchise. Also, it's not a sequel or spin-off, so no need to watch the original show if you don't want to, or don't want to watch it before finishing Trigun Stampede.

Basically what this post says.  If you think you might watch the original some day, you should probably start there, and then watch this one, to avoid spoilers for the original series.

(Or just don't watch this reboot... the CGI is about as bad as Ex-arm.  But - I guess some people have more tolerance for the uncanny valley than I do.)

This is a reboot/alternate retelling, but you're going to get MAJOR spoilers if you watch this before watching the original.

I highly recommend watching original first

Just watched the first episode. You don't need to have seen the original to have seen this. However, it spoils a ton of stuff from the original - late-game revelations and development are just initial backstory here.

We don't know how this will turn out, but so far, the first episode feels far less nuanced and more shallow. I would definitely recommend checking out the original first.

yeah your just doing yourself a major disservice watching this one first, its 1st episode basically spoils a gigantic chunk of both the original manga and TV series and its really just a shame to waste all that just to follow whats gonna essentially be another story of trigun made for people that already went through them.

It's actually not in this case and I'm a manga supremacist.
