Why the score is so low?

I found this anime really amazing. The animation is mesmerizing and the soundtrack literally gives me chills. The story was also good and kinda reminded me of weathering with you. I gave it a 9 considering how spectacular this was but I am kinda confused why people are giving it hate. Is there any particular reason?

If you watch it and found it's good,there's really nothing I could say to you. To me,I found the story was so mid that literally the only good thing I saw about this show is the visual only. Song just a same repeated note,and the animation just good at some scene. Sorry for watch a show for story.

I really enjoyed the first 70% of the movie, but the ending imo was extremely generic and disappointing, still I rated it an 8/10 but I’d understand why ppl would rate it lower

i liked the animation, music & mc of the story it was a enjoyable watch the music is by my one of my favourite composer & the animation i don't have to tell you about, do i? The story was weak a lot weak as i was expecting a lot from fate zero writer so i am a little bit disappointed thats all i can give it a 8 for enjoyment but critically 7.5 is the best score for this

I found it boring tbh. The production was very good… the visuals, sound, backgrounds, direction, setting, were all top tier. The story on the other hand wasn’t. Pretty simple reason why the visuals and production is good but not the story. Though if you enjoyed it then I’m glad for you!

I also have the same thought. Why’s it so low? Most say it’s because of the story, and I partially agree. Not much was explained, no other characters except Hibiki and Uta had time to shine, the others were just there for them.

BUT…
What do people expect from a 2 hour movie?!

There couldn’t be enough time to dive into each and everyone of their backstory, nor do they even plan to explain much in the first place, since there wasn’t any genius character created to explain it for us.
People are overthinking this. It’s just a Pakour anime with its meaning on the surface.

“DEATH AND REBIRTH”, they said it themselves.

I like it, it has good soundtracks, amazing animation, a normal story (that won’t require me to go through excruciating minutes of explanation and thinking. This Isn’t Sonny Boy) and also 8/10 main characters. For me, That’s enough, That’s 9/10

alot of people including me thought the story was bad. Really really bad, they tried to tell the story of the little mermaid mix it in with parkour and added a sprinkle of weathering with you and it all came out as a clusterfuck. The story was convoluted as hell and alot of things just happened that wasn't explained. It just wasn't good at all. The only good thing is the animation and even then the actual character designs of most of the characters except two or three were average.

wit did good with the animation, I just didn't really care about the main characters, there were way to many side characters that just suddenly had to drop a line so I didn't get hooked to the main characters neither to the side characters

Spoilers if you care. I watched this movie with my family and we were all laughing at how cheesy it was from the very beginning. As soon as that girl emerged from the bubbles we jokingly said "He better not cry about her turning back into bubbles at the end"... and that's exactly what happened 😂. Honestly such a shame because the animation had something interesting going for it but the parkour literally had nothing to do with the story of the little mermaid and didn't mix well at all. Also even though it was so painfully obvious that it was a modern interpretation of the original little mermaid story, they even bothered to make the characters read the fucking story outloud to destroy any sort of subtly left. I think that's when I was completely sick of the movie and it really just kept getting worse. (I actually share the same opinion with the movie Belle and this movie reminded me a lot of it. Good animation, horrible in every other way) In one word: Predictable.

I think people weren’t interested by the story. I thought it was alright but it seemed more of a vessel for beautiful animation, artwork and music to me though. I feel the aesthetic of the show was the main thing. For that reason I think the story did it’s job perfectly and so I gave it a 9. I really enjoyed watching this.

It got a low score for a simple reason, it was rushed, too much. It's a film, therefore screentime limitations make it nearly impossible any proper portrayal of character development. And it gets worse when 3/4 of the movie is spent on flashy parkour secuences, leaving no time for characters themselves.

For example, when the old dude goes back with them and help them at the final part of the film, since I suppose he was supposed to be a mentor figure, I couldn't help by ask myself "why is this important?". We know nothing of him, his background, fears and motivations, but his prosthetic leg breaking is supposed to be both a cathartic and liberating thing I guess, except I DON'T KNOW and by that point also DON'T CARE.

Everything feels artificial and bland, rushed and forced.

It could have been a decent series, the problem isn't the story itself, but being a movie it doesn't have enough exposition time to let things flow more naturally.

"The sun rises today and sets again. A flower that bloomed in the morning, falls from its stem. The sun sets today and rises again. Flowers bloom to fill the land, but not the flowers of yesterday..."
