kinda anti climatic ending, still satisfying as a sort of epilogue tho. honestly this last five episodes made up for all the boring "arcs", overall 7/10, good show but really flawed. i like the ost and some ideas are pretty clever but the script is at best decent and at worst absolutely abysmal, bad pacing and lots of boring and shitty episodes. could've been much better.

Nice epiloque, though the quality of the writing was very variable and the middle part was kinda boring, the last stretch from ep 20 to 25 really saves the show and makes it go from a mediocre anime to a really good one imo. 7/10

So in the end nobody died but a bunch of nobodies.

Was anybody else really disappointed by this show? It had so much potential but refused to commit to being a dark show by doing something actually dark and failed as a result of it.

Episode 26, this last episode felt out of place. Everyone's happy and none of the crew members with actual character developments faced any consequence. This ending felt lackluster but overall the journey itself was pretty entertaining.

Glad I watched it. People say it's Lord of the Flies in space, which I agree, but I definitely see it's influenced by submarine movies, Das Boot maybe? Which makes sense since Ryvius resembles a submarine, and Geduld behaves like the ocean, the more you go deeper, the stronger the pressure.
It also reminds me of Ideon. Of course, it's made by Sunrise, Solo ship + Ideon are similar to Ryvius + Vital Guarder. Just like Ideon, Ryvius can only be operated by teens and it is actually sentient.
Also the Vaiva squids just like Uchuu Kaiju from Gunbuster, haha.

The show is pretty much hard SF but I do question a few designs such as the marionette mechanism for the mechas, idk, it would be much simpler if the operators are inside it. Also, I'm sot sure what solids are. I guess it's some kind of computer scripts, but I feel like it's just too much work.
I also don't understand why Delta Liebe performed a "dive" for maintenance, not much explanation.
My theory is that Delta Liebe is in low power state so it can't maintain it's altitude.
Another thing is how they animate Geduld, when Ryvius resurfaces, the Geduld creates wave-like effect just like water. but should it be clouds of super hot plasma so we get smoke effect? I may be wrong since I'm not a physicist.

I think it would be better if it's 24 episodes, just remove all the recaps and it would be perfect. I don't mind the ending, I actually quite like it, finally an ending that is not rushed.

8/10

... wait, I do notice a bit plot hole, why did they disguise the Ryvius as a school? It just doesn't make sense. The solar system is super huge, you can hide it at a remote location and done, nobody would find it. Well, it's still give it an 8/10, maybe I'm biased since I love SF and the story is pretty unique, but I do agree with people who gave it 7/10.

The ending was just terrible and stupid. Some of them coming back would be acceptable but everyone coming back is down right re.....it doesn't make much sense to even risk it all by hiring some of the nuttier ones.

Honestly I'm not really disappointed by the ending. I'll admit, I was surprised they decided to go for a happy ending. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that they didn't show Blue. He's definitely on the ship (After all, Juli's there) and Yuki had his ass handed to them.

Honestly this show isn't terrible but I found it hard to be invested in the characters until the very end and even then I only cared about some of them. The last few episodes after Ikumi went insane were the best episodes to watch.

There's a trope in anime, where a whole series can go by, the characters grow and develop, but nothing actually changes, and I feel like that's happened here. The characters end where they began. If there were a sequel to this show, it could start off almost exactly the same, with the same characters hating each other, coming into conflict with one another, etc. Its one of the tropes that I don't like, because it makes me think that all of the struggles throughout the series were meaningless if there is no discernible growth or change in the character. It cheapens the story because it almost seems like actions don't have lasting consequences. Why are all of these characters coming back to a place that caused them such trauma? Show how they changed, what changes they've made in their lives as a result, and have some lasting differences.

My biggest gripe about this show is that I didn't like any of the characters. I feel like Kouji was supposed to be the main hero, but I'm still mystified about what he stands for, or what his motivations are. I feel the same about almost all of the characters, except Blue, Faina, and Ikumi. Most of them are just...there. Reacting to the situation in mostly ineffectual ways. They don't make me root for them, or show aspects of their personalities that are endearing. I enjoyed the setting, the overall story, and the animation was fine, but the characters could have been vastly improved.

Yep, can't say I enjoyed this series but the setting and character development was at least interesting. People kept describing it as lord of the flies in space and I can see why now.

It makes no sense how kouji can act buddy buddy with ikumi after what he did to him. Why come back to the ship as well?

I don't understand the point of those attack. They could have rescued them from the start and obtain the Ryvius, right?
And what was the point of that terroristic attack from the first episode?
I don't find any sense at all

Okay, but why did they decide to go aboard the Ryvius despite being stranded in there for several months? If I were one of the victims, I would never step in that ship again. Also, what the hell happened to Kozue and Blue?

I'd give it a 7/10. It was a 6/10 for me until the last few episodes decided to shoo out most of the irrelevant antics and finally approach the epic space-opera fantasy territory that I had initially expected from this anime. Probably not all that realistic for so many of them to be returning to the Ryvius, considering how many of them ended up hating being on it, but at least it made Neya happy. Infinite Ryvius is a very weird watch, and the character interactions ended up being more likeable than most of the characters themselves. It often finds itself being so close to writing genius scenes, but also consistently finds a way to stunt them with banal results. The last third of it definitely saves the series, and allowed it to crawl out of that lethargic bog of social drama and inconsequential squabbling that caused the middle episodes to drag on.

It is not the ship but the bad luck and heavy circumstances that caused all the trauma and happen on Ryvius.

Anyhow not ten years have passed since it was released and IRL they introduced austerity and since then world turns into one big Ryvius.

I can’t wait for these next vibes . The Journey Home at Long last. The birds of earth are chirping. birds are chirping. She has grown some hair. Valid. They come back famous with fans dang. They all fans of his brother. L once again. He laughed in the face of death. He’s only telling it like it is as usual. He punches a man. You’re passing the buck again. Must you think about that now? Nothing is simple. She don’t mind. He’s up to something ticklish. They want them back. And he’s going. Don’t be ridiculous. You’d almost expect something to go wrong. He finally won her over somehow. Ain’t no way. Good old good got subjectively hotter. She redid her hair. Another Ralph Lawrence. Tell me he got the W. There are so many things to learn first about society and her self. They all have Ryvius merch. His dad beat him up for not wanting to go back to this traumatic place. For the sake of their future. He does not admit to anything, but if he made a mistake, he’s back to fix it. Why not work together learning what they can from each other. Pretty much everyone makes it back. Why not have a chance now. They’ve come home. Ahoy makes a face? She presents him. He went to the moon for a while, but he couldn’t find his girl. He was afraid to fall in love. They don’t have to grab a hold of the entire future. They just have to grab a hold of tomorrow. Problems are already starting starting. Come on cut it out. Sometimes things just won’t go the way you want them to. There is nothing you can do to change it, that’s not quite true either. I don’t want it tomorrow like that.Lookson back to being the captain. He can hear the cheers echo throughout the ship. They head for titania. He has something to say to the murderer. Friends have reunited. He laughs and has blues bandanna. Roger that captain. All back together. Absolute masterpiece. Not all of the mysteries were answered, but they didn’t need to be. A flawless piece of art. A perfect Anime. Bravo, I am left wanting more. It has been a while since something has blown me away like this. I am insulted at how under rated this is. The potency of these ideas are damn near unmatched. It’s such incredible commentary on human nature and society, as well as incredible space mecha action. What more could you ask for. Miraculous mystery, flawless vibes. I wish it had a movie to go along with it. Who would have thought it. Infinite Ryvius: 10 5

I finished my rewatch today, so I finally feel qualified to speak on this anime.

Between when I watched this anime at some point in my younger years and now, a lot has changed and a handful of groundbreaking anime has been watched by yours truly. Yoshiyuki Tomino has this thing he said about how anime refuse to have men be men and women be women. Sex, the human experience, and all the other stuff I'm paraphrasing. I watched a lot of anime after I read that quote and it's stuck with me since because of how true it was/is.

An anime from before that quote and this anime, Revolutionary Girl Utena, defined for me what I want anime to be. Real. Messy. Human. With characters that behave like people instead of just caricatures of what people wish they were. The closest anime I watched that had the same mindset as that anime is Infinite Ryvius. This rewatch took a long time, which gave me time to think about what this anime stands for, as well as other anime that tried to walk the same path as this anime, like Valvrave the Liberator, and Astra; Lost in Space.

Like many great anime, this anime has a lot of flaws. It seems clear to me that Goro Taniguchi and his staff were hoping for a Utena or TTGL runtime, which would provide enough time to get most of their ideas out there. All they got was 26 episodes that often dropped plot points for the sake of runtime. Like the astronauts hanging outside Ryvius for 2 episodes around the ship party. A proper backstory on Ikumi and Airs Blue, which seem like something the writers already completed and ended up forced out of the anime cuz of runtime. Faina might have gotten the short end of the stick worst tho. I kept hoping for some Yuno Gasai shenanigans, but she only killed 2 people and didn't even get a proper meltdown episode. Plus all the other lingering plot threads, like the LITERAL end of mankind, which is casually brought up and dropped with a non resolution in the credits of the final episode.

I also wish that it stuck it's landing better as far as the final 2 episodes, but at least we get a happier ending than Utena, with a delightful sense of dread that could have potentially led to another season or a sequel series. This anime is a 9 out of 10 in my book. A 10 is an anime that makes the points it wants to make with excellent execution. A 9 is an anime that touches greatness sometimes, but can't maintain it. There was a point to the story, but the writers couldn't bring it home. This anime is head and shoulders above anime that tried to imitate it later because it used tropes in a better way than Valvrave and was more human than a lot of other anime with cardboard characters.

A couple other things. Utena showed me brocon/siscon stories can be exceptionally well told. Ikumi's story deserved a shot, and I think this animes writing team could have made it something special. Ran deserved a proper happy ending with Lucson. Most of the other MC's had an acceptable ending to their character journeys. Relatively speaking, because only 5 people actually changed into better or worse people.

I'm gonna keep looking for more anime like this, with messy humans being allowed to be themselves. It's a shame Goro Taniguchi has been the director of so many anime with interesting premises that end without getting another season to expound on some of their more interesting ideas. Anime stories need more unlikeable main characters that are easy to look down on. Hopefully the other half of this decade has more anime with this much ambition. I look forward to it.

Abysmal anime. The main problem was the characters. Not one single likable character from the main cast. Not one. Even the one that was initially interesting (Heigar) was made out to be a total psycho and a trainwreck of a character. I don't feel the need to address the Yuki situation because it already makes me angry just having to think about that emo cunt.

I don't agree with the majority of the people over the course of the older threads that claimed Kouji to be the "only human character" in that whole ship. No, that is not a normal human would react to the happenings throughout the series. Kouji's passivity may be a normal trait in all of us, however his was prolonged to the point where it became extreme. I mean, what in the fuck did he accomplish? Nothing. He continued to be and stay a fool. "Send me to the Lift ship, I have to get a message across" after he was shot by Ikumi. Do you really think this is how YOU would react to that situation? A normal human would have used the gun he had LONG before all that happened. A normal human would NOT be all buddy-buddy with the one who shot you.
and oh, him going over there didn't even do anything, because moments prior, the enemy ship's captain committed suicide because the Ryvius' Sphix happened to look like his deceased daughter. Quite the convenient coincidence to help resolve all this big mess, right? Joke of a plot.

I don't know what the point of keeping Blue alive after the betrayal was, too. I feel like he never got a conclusion as a character and his dynamic with Juli never had the chance to be developed, nor ever was his backstory.
Save for a very, very select few moments, this anime was an appalling experience and one of the worst I have ever seen. 1/10.
