| Like it's fine to have more than one character love the MC, but the ones that are popular just seem so forced. I think it all went down hill when Eva fans completely missed the point of the relationship Shinji has with Asuka and Rei. So corporate businessmen with dollar signs in their eyes went out and mass produced anime love triangles to inflate their sales. The worst offender has to be Rem vs Emilia. You got the people that want a simp, the people who want to be the simp, and the people who see both as shitty characters and rally for any of the other girls (GO ECHIDNA GO!!!). I mean Steins;Gate is right there, you can do this kinda of stuff respectfully. (Steins;Gate doesn't have a love triangle, but it has waifu wars, that's what I mean) Am I wrong? Shit talk me I guess |
| With harems i think you're kind of wrong they are made to be like that but with shows where romance isn't the main focus I see your point maybe authors see that making "waifu wars is profitable" so that's why they do it , but its also has to do with the community taking it a bit too seriously |

| The authors know what their audience wants. Shipping keeps people engaged in case the plot fails. (If there's a noteworthy plot to begin with, many harems and their characters seem to be build around the waifu war) |
