| Island devils refer to the people from Paradis island and the reason people like Gabi & other mainland Eldians think of them as evil is because that was all they were taught since young, that the people from Paradis once used their titan powers to oppress the world(Truth though it was their ancestors and not people like Armin, Jean, Sasha and every current generation of Paradis islander). It's similar to how everyone think of all Nazi's as evil or why everyone think of all Chinese from China as evil, use a true but bad event from wayy past and paint your current generation of enemies in that fashion to set a precedent for that line of thought or for short, propaganda. And the reason Gabi works for the Marleyian military is because of this propaganda where there is the so called "evil Eldian's" from Paradis island and the so called "Good Eldian's" who are born on Marley. (Similar to how western leftism work. There's the good "tolerant" guys and the so called evil "right-wing" guys) |

| Paradis is what Gabi and Marley refer to as the "Island of the devils". It's also the homeland of Eren and the scouts. Although Gabi is Eldian, she lives in Marley who brainwashed her and many others into thinking that the entire Eldian race is evil. They make them think that the pain and suffering they're going through is all atonement for the wars they waged in their titan forms, and the killing their ancestors have done. Gabi hates the Eldians of Paradis, those she's never been in contact with because she wants to make a distinction between herself and them. She refuses to believe that she's a bad Eldian like them, in fact she wants to prove to Marley that there are good Eldians that don't kill or don't want to terrorize the rest of the world. She fell for the Marley propaganda that tries to eradicate Eldians altogether, all so that she can be recognized as a good person, and honor the Eldians who live under Marley rule. Also, keep in mind that those Eldians are marginalized, they're treated as second-class citizens, and to gain the title of honorary Marley she has to fight and hate people of her same race with all her might. |
