Do you think Shojo and Seinen manga and anime will eventually surpass Shounen manga and anime in popularity in upcoming years?

I don't know, but I hate these demographics labels anyway.

Dont think so, imo it will always be more niche than shonen/seinen.

The vast majority of people who watch anime are pre-teens/teens so most likely no.

Highly unlikely, there just really isn't a comparable level of international reach as Shounen Jump series and with that reach comes budget/time/etc. that will rarely be dedicated to other demographics.

It would require such a massive shakeup in popular trends that it's a pretty safe bet it won't happen anytime soon.

unlikely but not impossible, if mostly all anime fans become seinen fans inside of japan thant hey might but that seem like something that wil ldifficult happen, i don't really care i don't decide the things i watch by demographics and don't care about whats popular anyway, but it would still be ebtter to see more variety in anime adaptations considering that its mostly the same things, maybe when isekai will die there will be more space for shoujos and seinens

No, I'm pretty sure WSJ adaptations will always be the most popular anime.

See you in 2051 ....... JK
On a serious note if Shojo/Seinen didnt manage raise their popularity before isekai era dont think they can pull it off after isekai era something else, something totally new stuff 100% gonna replace isekai

Shoujo manga as we know it has existed since Princess Knight in 1953. If the demographic hasn't surpassed shounen in almost 70 years, it never will.

prob not but i personally prefer reading shoujo and seinen over shounen. just look at fruits basket s3. an amazing ending to a classic shoujo series and it has less than 300k members.

Nope. Shonen anime are japan's equivalent of marvel films. The appeal is just huge.

Probably not. I do hope demographic tags die out soon though, not gonna happen but I can wish. They’re so obsolete and barely tell you anything about what you’re about to watch or read.

Fuckin' no, lmao. Shounen has picked up with the mainstream more than any other genre, both historically and currently. When you think normie-ass anime fans, what do you think of? Kaiji fans? Monster fans? Or is it Yaiba and BnHA fans?

I'm more interested about what even spurred on this question, honestly.

probably not, still wish that shojo gets a revival of some sort, it kinda peaked in the 2000s in terms of anime ig

As much as I like shoujo and still want Kitchen Princess to get a (faithful) TV anime adaptation, I don't think it will overtake shounen.

No, I'm pretty sure teenage boys make up a very big part of anime fans. Not to mention there's tons of shounen fans from other demographics as well.

No, the golden age of shoujo was decades ago and seinen is still too small.

The only thing that will surpass battle shounen is dark softcover seinen battle shounen in future so more chainsaw man and to a lesser degree jujustu kaisen type of stuff tbh

Nothing is ever going to overtake shounen since lot of young boys and also moral puritans who only clout chase hot shit stuff and yet cries about said content looks at it and are we ever going to get a shoujo revial? well if you splurge on a bunch of Ai Yazawa and Kaori Yuki merch then yeah anything goes.

Even the Fruits Basket remake did not become that popular or talked about, so I doubt it will ever catch up with the popularity of shonen manga and anime.

Even if all seinens and shojou are combined as a single group they would still be be less popular than the big 3
They can never top the shounen series in terms of popularity

Shōnen is a demographic, not a genre. It's measured via target market saturation, not popularity. The target market for shōnen is much larger than any other demographic, so it's literally impossible for it not to be “the king of all”, as you say.

No. Can't happen. Like it is ACTUALLY impossible. Simple economics
