Honest I think "Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken" was a very well written Isekai series that was told in an entertaining way. It covered a geo-political struggle in a fantasy world in the most interesting of way by entertaining the thought of the integration between monsters and humans alike. This was probably one of the 1st most unique fantasy world anime titles I ever experienced watching despite it not being a perfect master piece.

Though, there were a few aspects of this anime that are left in question. I thought to myself, unanswered questions would either be explained later on in future seasons, or eventually touched on in some OVA release. But one particular thing that was left untouched that made me always question throughout the 1st season was why Satoru Mikami (Rimuru Tempest) was killed in the 1st place.

From the very beginning of the series they just jump in with the main protagonist getting stabbed by shielding his friend from being attacked with a knife. The assailant just runs up from an actual large distance away basically shanking Satoru Mikami then quickly fleeing the scene of the crime. Like WTF happened and why? As I was binge watching the entire 1st season I thought to myself at some point just maybe they would touch on this a bit more. But it never happened. We never learn who the attacker was, or even why he was attacking them. What exactly was the motive? Are we just left to believe it was just some random psycho who decides for no reason at all just to stab someone with a knife?

Ordinarily something like this wouldn't bother me so much but most other things in the story were very well thought out and given at least some explanation no matter how lame they might have been. So this to me really stands out. They could have at least given a 30 second fill to some back story behind Satoru Mikami's death, rather then leaving it in complete ambiguity. They spent more time on the importance of having his friend destroying his computer after he is dead. They even gave us a short 15 second cameo of watching his friend throw Satoru Mikami's computer in a bath tub filled with water while it was on.

Doesn't this unanswered question bother anyone else?

Edit: ...and we still don't even know what was on his computer and why it was so important to destroy after he was gone...

In some of the eastern countries you can't own guns, so no mass shootings, so the "revenge on society" types just use kitchen knives. E.g. it's scarily common in China as far as I know but the CCP just hides it

yep. The CCP would hide it to protect it's citizen so they don't come up with the same idea

the CCP tend to hide these kinds of crimes. They would only show these crimes on TV if they catch the guy, but won't show if they don't get them cause it would make them look bad

Not having answers to those questions is possible part of the point. Satoru will never have those answers either. He died. He never even asks those questions because there is no point. That life is over, and he doesn't dwell on it. He embraces his new one.

Well first of all, the dude was most likely a random criminal and happened to stab our MC.
Secondly, you have to take into consideration that the "first life" was from MC's POV, so we'll never actually know the truth as after the attack he died and that's the end. In fact, the information is basically useless to know now.

Given the premise of the series, why he died is largely irrelevant, and I doubt we will ever see any explanation beyond what was shown in the first episode.

Everyone in China knows about these crimes though, people aren’t stupid. That’s why all the subway stations/many public places have metal detectors, it’s not for guns because you can’t get any there, it’s for suspicious looking knives.

He was trying to save his friend by a killer(i didn't know who and why he was trying to kill, but he was just holding knife and came running towards them) and he got stabbed by him and died.i guess that's how the writer wanted him (satoru mikami) to be killed and reincarnate as a slime in another world. You know he should have a reason like how he got reincarnated. As it says by its name, "that time i got reincarnated as a slime"

I think Fuze just needed a way to kill the main character slowly, so he choose a random fatal stab. There’s literally no explanation why it happened, even in the light novels. Killing him slowly gives room to have the computer scene

I can't really explain much about the stabbing, but the computer destroying was easy to explain, Satoru didn't want people finding his p0rn stash

I mean it’s fairly obvious that his computer at home probably only contained porn he didn’t want family to see…

ngl i never thought about that and the fact that his death was never explained could suggest that something really important was on his pc and had to be deleted before the killer and/or the group he coulda been working for found it

Everyone's insight has been commendable. Regardless of any explanation surrounding Satoru Mikami (Rimuru Tempest) death, there is still the question about why he was reincarnated at all and even that why a slime? Another question is about the "Sage" ability that Rimuru originally acquired. There's still a lot lost in ambiguity which could have easily been explained or unable to be explained by even entertaining the idea of Rimuru simply asking a few questions to the "Sage". Maybe those questions and many more will be eventually answered in time when the full series ever comes to a conclusion.

Seriously you people thinking too much into it, it happens in most isekai series. The mc dies in an accident and is reincarnated and about great sage it's mostly a gag because satoru was a virgin also he had a craving for knowledge and many things. He was not someone special but he was a good and ambitious man that's why he got 'great sage' as his skill. Skill reflects otherworlder's personality as you can notice.

Truck-kun was under his annual maintenance check.

So they hired a random human to do the killing.

Wasn't there a random stabbing incident in Japan some time back? On a train or something? So something similar happened and killed mc

My running theory is ....and ok hear me out he works for truck-kun and it was his first day on the job ...mans was sloppy yes but he ultimately got the job done and the reason we hear nothing about it is because the transdimensional power truck-kun possess.
