THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Pretty interesting show about making cups (or pottery in general), though it's all marketing of the Tajimi City in Gifu Prefecture.

A mix of both anime and live-action, you can call this show unique for what it is. Though what you'll find online is the anime portion only, which is a shame of the live-action portion you can only watch on live Japanese TV broadcast.

EDIT: Crunchyroll will sub this series every Monday @ 9:30am EST / 10:30am EDT.

With that in mind, if I understand correctly, is this show pretty pure and devoid of much fan service?

its sat pretty square in the cgdct genre, i highly doubt there's going to be fanservice.

That said if you need subs they're not going to be out until Monday so the only ppl who can answer that question definitively are ppl who can understand Japanese

You make it sound like CGDCT is largely independent of fanservice and the moe / yuri fanboys are obsessed with the genre just because it is an all-female genre and not how "some" works portray it.

The shows you mentioned were never a particularly typical CGDCT, especially the second one, which was essentially just an original anime with an all-female cast. The studio that adapted Yuru Camp even discussed in detail in their recent interview how they tried to do without any unnecessary moe.

What? Which shows are typical CGDCT then? The ones full of fanservice?

I will reiterate that not every all-female SoL is a CGDCT. It's also funny as to call mahou shoujo any show with a female character transformation. But yep, the original idea for CGDCT was the idea of a "harem of audience", which was mocking back in Azumanga.

In Japan itself, such shows are called "Girl's Zoo" and Yuru Camp, which focuses on the comfy experience of camping or Byori, whose female characters are too small and innocent to be fetishized, are far from it. Classic CGDCT is a show like K-ON! or GochiUsa, where the yonkoma format is combined with ship and waifu baiting.

P.S. Only the siths create false dilemmas like "either full fanservice or no fanservice."

This was surprisingly decent. Very, very simple but a refreshing topic to see a calming show about girls making pottery with passion, with none of the bullshit. The runtime is only half of the regular episode length, but it works for me given the format. Unironically, one of the better premieres of the season I've seen so far, just because it's actually not awful to watch by any means.

Aww this is sweet. Suprisingly good production values for what looks to be an average CGDCT show, but the story of Himero pursuing her Mom's legacy is a touching one, and I am glad her dad is able to accept it, even if it takes some heart to let Himero go.

Might continue to watch this since it is so relaxing and sweet

It's time to do research more about Tajimi city.
Cute and relaxing as always from the CGDCT anime. Pottery club is quite a strange club for highschool students. But, the pottery and ceramics are Tajimi's famous products, so maybe that's quite the normal thing for highschool there.

Japan, where 75% of the parents of high school kids are dead and all school clubs only have 4 members.

Which episode will she get caught in the rain and become deathly ill? Taking bets now.

i like that the camera man or director off camera casually telling the actresses that the house is right there after they passed it lol

Well, I was wondering about pottery and I didn't know where to start. Now I have this entertaining anime and some information about pottery in Japan.
I really love where it's going. It's a good confort show.

I wonder if Himeno's mom died from bad mushrooms because of the Clay.

I really like all the characters and I am excited to see how they develop throughout the season. I like that the episode is less than 15 minutes long, it makes it short, sweet, and to the point. I really like the main girl Himeno and what we know about her so far. The animation is pretty good also :)

Honestly, I never cared about pottery before but damn do those mugs look good. Himeno's mother sure had impressive skills.

Quite solid start overall. It exceeded my expectations actually. Production values seem above average and narrative was surprisingly well handled for a 12-minute long anime episode.
Last minutes with Himeno deciding to pursue her mother's legacy and her dad accepting her decision despite his initial worries were so touching too. Excellent execution!

No, it doesn't contribute anything to the plot. It's the seiyuu's (VA's) walking around Tajimi city, visiting real world locations, and talking together. It's nice, but it's not a must to watch.
