| Its funded by NHK which is a public broadcasting channel similar to say a japanese pbs. Its shows were renewed in a similar fashion to American TV usually being greenlit as the previous season was going hence why S1 and S2 both ended with announcemenets. Season 3 did not and the show ended there with no sign of a continutation. While not impossible its unlikely to get another season going both cause theres probably not that much demand for it and the anime would essentially be an advertisement for a manga that is already over which would probably deter things even more. |

I agree that it would be pointless for a finished manga, and while it certainly wasn't popular in the west, it constantly was in the top rankings of Japanese TV Anime, along with other famous ones like Doraemon, Sazae-san etc. So even if 4 years passed, they might do a 4th season in the future since it is pretty popular among japanese TV watchers |

| Did the 3rd season not end with the manga finale? As in there are more stories left even after cuts? I don't think 75 episodes covered everything from a manga that's nearly 400 chapters long but I imagine most of the story related ones would be adapted from beginning to end. |
