It works out better IMO when the cast of a show is well balanced out between male & female characters, a cast which has both good, memorable male + female characters, in that way not only is the cast itself balanced out better, but also the chemistry & dynamics between the cast more varied as a whole & thus more enjoyable. Haikyuu just lacks this as it overdoes the bishounen aspect way too much, with the female characters being hardly being much memorable amidst the predominance of all the male characters, so as a result the dynamics between the characters feels quite similar & repetitive after a while, which us why I couldn't really get all that much invested into the characters. & their dynamics. Plus this might be a personal choice but I find Volleyball as a sport extremely uninteresting, the very nature & type of the sport is quite dumb to me which is why I couldn't feel any tensions or hype during the matches. The sport is so overreliant on group efforts that it pretty much puts all individual brilliance/shining moments of the characters to shade as most of the stuff in the games are achieved via mostly group efforts. I'll pick it up again as I'm a completionist, but from I already saw of it, my opinion of it is very unlikely to change, to say the least. |
