This show is just jumping around without explanation at this point. And they've been hyping up Tattara since Root A and he goes out like a punk against Takizawa, who has some beef with him that the show doesn't even bother explaining until after the fact. Seriously?

On the bright side, bringing Amon back was cool after all this time, but how come he's a ghoul too now? How many people could Kanou have realistically turned into ghouls like that?

Damn it, I still want to like this but it's such a mess.

Such underwhelming fights. Even the Amon vs Takizawa was ruined for me. Dang it Pierrot, you're making fun of this series.

The only thing that saves this anime for me are Furuta moments.

This is all over the place now making it too confusing to follow at times. For a second I thought I missed an episode haha. I was so excited to finally see Tatara in action to end up disappointed because he was taken down fast by Takizawa. All these fights are being rushed way too much taking out the excitement and thrill from them *sigh*

Worst anime episode of TG in genral.
I did not even understand what was going on in the first half of this EP. Never seen such a mess.

To be honest, Dragonball Kai wasnt that rushed even doe cut like half of the show.
But this episode right here just convinced me to finish reading the final chapters of the manga and NOT watching the anime first.
Honestly i wont let this trashy show ruin :re for me. Because the 2nd half of the manga actually IS fucking dope.

Its just sad to see how they fucked up this show.
The TG ive used to know (and im talking about the anime - including root A) was a story about ken stuggling with his new live as a ghoul as he explores more and more of the cruelties of this world.
There was A LOT of detail in the story and character developement and so on.

But now we have a show about a lot of random characters fighting each other in scenes which i cant even follow. And with each episode the story starts to make less and less sense.
I was so hyped for this but right now i am just like

all the build up from Tokyo Ghoul S1 is gone. ruined by this TG:RE.. and i really hate it..

is this the same team who make TOKYO GHOUL S1? i hope they are not high on drugs while making this anime.

I don't think it's from the same team. Also, they can't be drunk while making this, because I'm sure the team working on this anime adaptation (re: abomination) consists of underaged kids.
I just realized that all of my favorite characters, beside being stunningly beautiful, also happen to be exceptionally skilled murder machines. \('-')/

Oh, well. Good to see Amon again. I remember that brief scene with him in the previous season. Was wondering when he was finally going to make his actual return.

Its one of the two sisters weve been introduced during Root A.
One of them had white hair i think her name was shino. And the other girl whicch is still alive is the one with black hair.

Its hard to follow the anime at this point just because they changed some characters art style.

- Still hoping to get some plot soon. I mean even in the manga these chapters are extreneky "jumpy".
But tbh, there is so much going on im a pretty sure they will just cut out one complete ark at this point.
There is no way they will get everything into 9 episodes from now on, even with that paste. haha

She is one of the twins from Season 2? I don't remember she was this beautiful. But I guess the two years timeskip changed her so much. ❤

This episode is such an unmitigated disaster that I don’t even know where to begin.

First of all, this series (Tokyo Ghoul as a whole) that I cannot even keep track of who is who and what is going on. As someone who has not read the manga, I’m so confused about what’s going on, who is feuding with who, and why the anime is putting focus on characters that have had zero buildup to this point.

I do know part of the problem is Tokyo Ghoul and Root A deviated from the manga while Re is a more faithful adaptation...but if you went into from just TG and Root A, there’s no way to keep track of what’s going on.

I’ll be blunt, I really think this series should have went the Fullmetal Alchemist route like it did with Brotherhood. They should have just re-booted from the beginning and went down a direct path that’s a more faithful adaptation to the manga.

To be perfectly blunt, the way this is produced, it’s like the production team didn’t even watch TG and Root A. It’s like they just asked the previous production team where they left off in regard to the manga and that’s it. So, they’re producing it with the expectation that viewers are going to know who certain characters are at any given time, no questions asked, but in all actuality, those characters and plot points were cut, so unless you read the manga, you’re not going to know.

People can be critical of the previous production team, but this team has created an even bigger disaster. While TG and Root A deviated, at least I could watch it and have a general idea of what was going on. Watching Re is like trying to drive in an indie car race before you even get your driver’s license.

Not even manga readers could comprehend this anime 'adaptation'. Like many have said, it should be treated more like a recap instead of a main series.

If we want a decent adaptation based on source material, Tokyo Ghoul would need 7 seasons of 12-episodes cour; i.e. 3 seasons for Tokyo Ghoul (48 chapters each season), and 4 seasons for Tokyo Ghoul:re (45 chapters each season). That's comparable to how Attack on Titan is adapted from the manga.
While currently, we've only got four which already covers the ending. So, yes, it needs a reboot.

So my review of this garbo got deleted cause I couldn't tolerate it for 4 episodes and was asked to move it to the episode discussion section instead so here we go I guess.

I have seen hentai with better writing than this.

Literally it fails at everything that I had to make an exception in my rule to complete what I start all the time. It's that bad. I don't even know what they were thinking when they published this shit. This gives school days a run for its money. Absolutely awful I can't empathize it enough. Don't watch this. I'm not even going to go into detail about whatever the hell this is. There is no reason. No purpose behind this. It's just there. It's a mistake. It should be burnt with gasoline fueled with the living body of whoever decided this was a good idea. Don't waste your time watching this. They are adapting almost everything the manga has and only telling you what happens. It's a 12-episode trailer that spoils any enjoyment you could have had out of the manga.

Bottom line: I hate it.

I wonder how Japan is receiving this series so far. If it's just as bad to them as it is to us in the west, hopefully they voice their disppointment loud enough for the creators to notice and reconsider how they're adapting TG. Production for the rest of the episodes is probably done though so any changes would have to wait until after if they're going to continue. Not holding my breath for them to learn from their mistakes since a lot of Pierrot's stuff is of this quality.

Oh and I have no input on this episode as I'm not even going to bother with this whole season. Never really got too attached to this series so it's pretty easily droppable for me.

I looked into it, not a manga reader, and there appears to be 16 volumes of 179 chapters of :re. They could make one or two more (probably only one in Pierrot's case) seasons with the the rest of the 57 chapters right? Or am I missing something about the TG lore?

Yeah, you've mistaken it. The first 57 chapters were already adapted in the first season of Tokyo Ghoul:re last April, while the currently airing season is adapting the rest of it (122 chapters). That fact alone is enough to fuel the fans' rage.

Oooh, okay. Reading comprehension and logic went out the window on my part. That's very frustrating indeed and really stupid. How low is their budget and how little do they care about this series to treat it like this? A better, more competent studio picking up TG and giving it the FMA:B treatment in the future would be nice but that's most likely never going to happen though. Guess we'll just have to settle with this stupidly popular series receiving a less than mediocre anime adaptation that it doesn't deserve.

But really, nothing seems to be making any sense so far. For instance, did they even properly build up to this Amon reveal? It seemed like that was just dropped in out of nowhere.

I remembered almost every shown character. It did not help me to feel anything. Most of them were assholes anyway. Or just underdevelopment. Naki is a brother of sadistic Jason, he cried a lot after his Aniki died. Meh. The guy who saved girl with freckles almost killed a civillian because he wanted to hit Irimi(girl with a dog/fox mask). He was an asshole. I hate Suzuya so I cheered up for the twins in the previous season. But well they made "them" a monster so I was like: can you all die already?

Tatara is a "lost potential" cause. They wasted him once again just for Takizawa antics. Meh.

Good to see this is properly getting shit on. You'd think that Pierrot would learn from their mistake after they had a "decent" first season of Tokyo Ghoul and then fucked it up with Route A. And then a "decent" first season of :re, followed by this shit fest.

I actually was calling it ahead of time that this season was going to be horrible. The second they officially announced :re2 was airing with the key visual, they announced that TK was doing the opening theme song. That was the red flag for me right there. When the first bit of info about the show on top of the teaser image is the artist doing the theme song (because unravel was insanely popular), that's not a good sign. No details on an air date, no cast announcements, no teaser vid, nothing. A picture and "HEY GUYS TK IS GONNA DO THE THEME SONG AGAIN! GETS YOU EXCITED RIGHT?!?!"

What the hell is this? The timeline feels all messed up! I am really confused even though I have read the manga.

Why are they not revealing Mutsuki's gender till now? It's not even supposed to be a secret from the audience.

The first season of :re fucked that up too. In the manga after the big Madam fight where Urie accidentally stabs Mutsuki and she hugs him with her Kagune, he says plain and simple in the manga "so you really are a woman Mutsuki". Right then and there we know she's a girl. But the anime cut that line of dialogue out completely took keep it ambiguously for literally no reason.

Woah. Where to start from? Hmm...: Nooo, Hachi-san!! Takizawa is badass as a half-ghoul. And finally Amon returned, after all those small suggestions from the previous episodes.

About returns, Naki's back-to-fight moment was great, haha. And even Tsukiyama joined the fight. It seems this battle involves all the most important ghouls from Tokyo.

Seriously, this episode was pure action. And I really liked it. No more confusing (for anime-only viewers) plot mysteries that weren't / aren't / won't be explained in the show. Pure action.

To be frank, I'm enjoying the fights in this cour. Apart from ghouls vs. humans conflict, I don't know what this anime is all about since the plot was messed up before, leaving viewers with many plotholes. The best thing is just to enjoy the special effects.

I read that the plot from the manga is way, way, way more complex. I can understand why many people who read Tokyo Ghoul's manga are angry at :re's anime adaptation. I can't judge, as for I haven't read this manga and I'm not planning to, but if it's true then too bad Tokyo Ghoul's anime suffers from that much of a lost potential.
