| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Got a different voice for father for a little while. Requested by father. Hand Spinner game and him at school getting teased by his classmate. Bakabon wanting father to be smart like a host taking about various news related things. Mother proposed to father? Choosing fun over smart. Father wanting to form idol group with Bakabon? And father cannot solve simple math question. Thinking that host is a adult show actor? Bakabon met Sakurai-san's character, who showed original manga proving that father was originally not stupid. But a part fell from allergy. Brother said there's a way to change that, then time machine from last ep. Police guy not suitable for being police since young. Pikachu's seiyuu did father when baby? He solved someone's car. They somehow stopped sneezing from that insect-looking guy and he solved sudoku. Because changed, father became smart and voice is ikebo. He married to a beauty. Mother married to another person w. different kid. Getting back and they have to stop the brothers who just stopped him, but failed. Brother getting disappeared because of different future. Bakabon about to get disappeared and Baby Bakabon is too smart to realize what just happened and know who he is. He sneezed and brother is back. Father back to normal. Father found a piece for his brain from Mercari? Father left to work, to be assistant director of that host's show. Nakamura-san voiced that insect guy? No, next ep. will be final ep. They appeared at the end (not just live-action) to discuss about final ep. |

| That was a pretty nice episode! I always wanted to know why Papa became stupid but all I could find in English was that it happened because of some accident. And wait, father's father as father in Heisei? Does it mean Kousei Tomita? God, let it be true... he was the best Papa. I also wondered why Mama married Papa. I always thought it might have been because he would die without someone clever to take care of him. Last episode next week... I'm not sure how to feel about it. This series is disappointing for me, probably more than for anyone else. I love older Bakabon series and this one... I'm not sure if I'm going to miss it. |

I didn't watch or read the old series. But just from the looks of it, the original works didn't seem to invite those kind of deep questions. It was supposed to be just slapstick and stupid antics that don't make much sense, right? That's exactly why I'm disappointed too. I expected the current show to ask how it's possible for someone to have a family when he's so stupid that he forgets how babies were made. How did he find a wife? How does she put up with him? How can they afford a house, utilities, food? As things stand, Papa is so stupid that he shouldn't be alive. The existences of Rerere Ojisan and Mr. Policeman are just as dubious. If they're already making a modern version of an old classic, they should've either adressed these issues or updated the characters like they did in Osomatsu-san. Otherwise I don't see the point in making a 20 minute show. Just let the characters be mascots and use them for merchandise for nostalgia bucks instead. So episode 11 is basically what I would've wanted for the entire season. But of course they couldn't help it and added the scene after the credits where they ruin the sentimental highnote of Papa leaving by talking about how they're out of ideas for the next episode AGAIN. It wasn't funny in episode 2 when Papa argued with Eel Dog and it wasn't funny the next 500 times they did it throughout the season. |
