Seriously, with the success of Azumanga Daioh, it would be stupid of Anime Companies not make a Yotsuba&! anime.

Well, Azuma-san would have to approve it, and I've heard conflicting reports on why he's not. One report is that he says it wouldn't translate well to animation, while another says that he had problems with ADV. (Which could be, considering Yen Press had to pick up the manga series.)

The anime industry is weird. I wonder why they produce half the stuff that they do.

A Yotsuba anime, though, would be an instant classic. ^^

I heard he doesn't want one because he thinks people see manga as a storyboard for anime.

It'd be fun even just to see a short movie based from it, but I think its cool staying as a manga. Yotsuba's bound to be one of the best classics of manga.

As far as I know the author think it would be HARD to succesfully adapt a story like Yotsuba& into anime... since Yotsuba& really has little plotline and the great feeling that's delivered through the manga is heavily based on all the environment and speechless "motions" in daily life... If you recall in the manga you can surely find many instances where there is just no talk at all but nevertheless makes you smile :)
