Haha, Sakura can be so cute when she gets excited about something.

Really liked this episode for focusing on Sakura's school and daily life. As I had expected, the outfits for this season is still colorful and shows it with her character.

I think pacing is starting to pick up more too. Considering it's a 2 cour show, it definitely has time to work things to flesh out the story.

Fantastic episode again.

This is still so nostalgic to me. Seeing all the character together after all these years makes me smile.

Also, looks like we're following the anime canon since Meilin and Wei are confirmed which is awesome. :D

Loved how Kero was totally put on spot when he was trying to act as a plushie. XD
That whole scene was hilarious.

New outfits. <3
I knew I can count on Tomoyo to deliver.

The clear card stuff is still really interesting and Sakura's dream got a lot more aggressive than I expected.

Looking forward to more.

So there's definitely something happening with Shaoran (him having to deal with some stuff) and Eriol seems to have a bigger role again (again not telling until the time is right, oh boy).

Was smiling again through the whole episode.

Also Meiling exists!

Have a feeling that this will have more original plot than expected.

Very cute episode! Kind of reminded me a bit of Maze card back in the original anime.

I can learn how to make cheesecake from this anime!! Heck, this anime should be a food anime with everything shown. Looks so good! OMG!

Hopefully we'll get to see Meiling in future episodes and this was a foreshadow of it. I liked seeing the group mentioning her. Almost more than I liked Takashi Yamazaki telling them one of his famous "fake" stories.

The dream...yeah, it's probably going to be in every single episode until it leads up to the climax of this anime. *sigh*

Great and humorous episode (enjoyed Kuro and his obsession with modern-yaki)!

Gosh, every episode is adorable!

Sakura is the type of person who goes right to eating the cream cheese filling of a cheesecake, huh?

It's great to have Tomoyo's outfits back!

Kero gets to go to the school now, thought he was happy enough playing video games at home.

Going back to cheerleading, I wonder if she will get whacked on the head many times again.

They taught us how to make a cheesecake in this episode, loved the reaction from Kero when he ate some.

I'm not sure why Kero still pretends to be a doll around Touya, he already knows about the magic & Yue ect.

I did a google image search for Okonomiyake, it looks amazing, no wonder Kero had that reaction.

Yes that is a very nice outfit, and all of a sudden they are trapped.

Glad Kero realized what it was, Tomoyo gets to help out this time.

Siege = Surrounding of a place, cutting them off from the outside world.

There's that mysterious being again, and something that kinda looks like a dragon of sorts.

Nice, leave it to Kero is back.

Indeed pacing got fixed which was relief to see! Also there was many hilarious moments between Kero-chan and Touya which was always amusing to watch for me.
I also liked some of the original background ost played out which were really feel nostalgia..

Anyway!! Nice to know Meiling is actually making canon in this sequel too(which make original fillers aren't filler afterall). I thought she was great character imo. And this means... there will be 52 cards too! Nice~

Ahhh, cute episode once again. The cheesecake part was great. Felt like it coulda come right outta Shokugeki no Souma lmao. Except Kero didn't have any clothes that could explode off of him. :v

But man it's been SO long since I watched the original CCS series, I coulda sworn at one point in it Touya had learned about Kero. Or was it just that he learned there was something up with Yukito? Someone remind me what all it is that he knows up to this point because I literally can't remember anymore.

It's more of a "Sakura learns that Touya knew" when Touya gives his powers to Yue so Yukito and Yue won't disappear.
Touya always felt the magic powers of Kero, Yuki and even knew that the mirror card wasn't actually Sakura.

Okay, to be honest, I actually really liked this episode far more than the first. One of the main reasons is that CLAMP/Madhouse seem to have quite a bit of self-awareness when it comes to the handling of the story and are actively trying to put some of the fears and doubts to rest.

For one, they did clearly show that Sakura is indeed worried about the state of her cards and that she hasn't forgotten the fact that they are sentient. That is one of the things that differentiate the new cards from the old. They also did a good job in allocating a certain amount of time in explaining why she isn't more worried about them instead of focusing completely on the new powers and cards. In fact, one of the best outcomes that I can picture for this series is to have her spend the entire series without her cards, but regain them eventually in a triumphant return. (But, I really hope it isn't one of those "you're relying too much on the cards so this was all a test to see how you can fare without them".) After how the original series built up the power of the Stars as Sakura's own magic, it would be kinda annoying to have all that development completely undermined. Some people have also talked about a Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle tie-in. That would be a nice Easter Egg, but from what I understand, quite a number of fans are annoyed at CLAMP trying to tie all of their projects together (one of the many issues with Blood-C). I am of the same opinion and would love for CCS to remain its own thing.

Also, love the Wen and Meiling shout-out. It's again another deliberate nod to those fans who were worried about their existence.

All in all, definitely less worried for the rest of the series, but we still have a long, long way to go.

Yup, they are definitely following the old anime, which is nice.

Time for the commentary:

People nowadays freak out so much when you don't answer a message in 2 minutes, but Sakura is all oh well that's fine, gonna worry later.

Poor girl can't even have a full night of sleep, of course she takes her time to wake up in the morning.

I still don't get why Kero keeps pretending to be a plushie, they all know the other know that they know, just have dinner together and call it a day.

I really like how they stretch things, the manga seems like everything happens so fast.

It's kinda funny seeing this school where everyone is super happy friends after watching 3-gatsu, but I'm okay with that, we need some escapism from the cruel school system.

And for one last thing, It's kinda weird for me to watch subbed CCS, but that scene when Kero pinches Sakura she made such a cute voice I was al like aaaaaaawn.
Guess I should have watched the old anime subbed at least once, I mean, I watched the movies and the specials subbed but I feel I didn't paid much attention back then.
That 360° inside the cube was nice too, I love when they do that camera work thing but you know, animated.

Okay, enough, great episode as always, I'll be eagerly waiting the next.

This was such a cute episode.

I loved how they showed us more of their school daily lives, how Meiling was not forgotten (I was afraid of that since she doesn't exist in the manga) and, of course, Syaoran and Eriol mysterious moments:
Ruby is being affected by something...
Syaoran having things to take care of ALL THE TIME... is this related to Tsubasa?
Eriol waiting for the right time to come...

But what I loved the most was how they played the music from the original series here and there, it brings back so many memories.

I feel the same way. I watched CCS dubbed in spanish on tv when I was younger except for the first movie (subbed online). I specially need to get used to Kero's voice and Tomoyo's "desuwa" but it's not a big deal.

WHY DO THEY STILL HIDE KERO FROM TOUYA LMAO don't they know that he knows... am I mixing up my continuities here...

I love how there's this sense of urgency with the new cards, and the tension was so good! It seems much more serious. Huge movie2 and movie1 vibes. Nakuru is so pure, wanting to fly to Japan and help Sakura :( ahhh I'm so curious as to why this is happening. At the end Sakura says she believes she'll see the cards again but I really wonder if that will be true or not.

watching this is like watching when all Clow Card turn into Sakura Card once again. the difference is that now they evolve into a crystal clear card instead of plain card.

let me guess, I feels like all cards from the books released only to be captured as a brand new crystal clear card while advanced to the new level of power in the process.

and Eriol knows something. it's just him being scumbag to not reply Sakura's message.

It's also been a long time, but I forgot if there's Meiling in the manga or not. some people says that Meiling actually didn't exist, if that so, then why this episode mention her name. I'm confused.

My gods. I spent all week rewatching the CCS and just finished it a couple hours ago while I just finished the first two episodes of clear card-hen until now. Worth it or else I wouldn't be this hyped. I love everything! I'm in love!

I'm still confused why Kero and Sakura are still hiding from Touya when they knew Touya knows everything. Or is it a habit that they just can't get rid of? Poor Kero is tired of playing a plushie.

I think you should just go ahead and rate it as high as you want. On the whole I didn't even like the original show (which I watched in the last four months), but so far I love this.

To me, this was the cutest and funniest episode of Cardcaptor Sakura yet. I couldn't even pay attention to the recipe, because chibi Sakura and Tomoyo were being far too distractingly cute. Even elements that bored or annoyed me before are appealing now. Just brilliant.

Takashi the liar, I think I got sick of his gimmick within the first two or three times in the original show, and toward the end I'd get dark violent urges whenever he'd start talking. This episode, I actually laughed. I'm kind of astounded.

nDroae said:
I thought I'd be used to Kero-chan by this point, but his design still looks terrible to me. At least now I'm finally through watching the creepy slow head rotation while he says "Konyanyachiwa!" at the end of every episode.

I never really liked Kero in the original show - not the way he looked, or sounded, or acted; his infantile gluttony for sweets made me outright angry at one point. But that dinner table scene with Touya was hilarious. Even Leave it to Kero-chan is fun now.

QueenInsomnia said:

I read his ಠ_ಠ reaction as "I can't believe these kids still think they have me fooled with that stuffed toy act. I feel insulted." Combined with the jam on Kero's face, it was gold.

I am afraid that lack of communication with Touya over this could lead to unnecessary problems and drama. If that happens, it'll become annoying.

After how the original series built up the power of the Stars as Sakura's own magic, it would be kinda annoying to have all that development completely undermined.

AGREED.

I hope it is actually some kind of legitimate threat, because that would mean that Eriol's plan in the original show was preparing Sakura to face this. As it was, I got the sense that the main achievement was merely to keep Clow's magic alive through Sakura. I thought magical girls were supposed to protect people, but Sakura was protecting them from Clow's own magic turned loose (first arc) and from Eriol's dangerous and destructive attacks (second arc). I know Sakura is a Cute Witch rather than a Battle Magical Girl, but I thought magic came off looking like a cynic's view of The Force - a cause of more problems than it solves.

I want to see a danger that only Sakura can protect people from - something that Eriol could explain, but couldn't control.

If it ends up disappointing, then oh well... at least I had fun watching it.

Wuhh. This episode was so much better than the first episode. First episode put way too much focus on trying to get some nostalgia going and if you weren't baited by the nostalgia then the first episode wasn't going to do much for you. For this second episode, I felt it got us into the nitty gritty and helped set more of the tone along with giving the audience what they want to look forward to each week/what they're actually going to get each week. Sooo much better, because straight up, they just depended on nostalgia waaay too much and didn't properly reintroduce some characters after so many years. They were just like, "Hey, remember x? No? WELL THAT SUCKS! Yay~" No good. But seriously, this episode was so much better. ;o; So so much better.

Hmm this is average so far.
Love the cute magical shots, but overall, this is leaning on nostalgia which I don't care about, since I have never watched the original series.
Tomoyo's lines are just there to show the viewer what is happening, as if we can't see for ourselves that Sakura is not in her room anymore, for example. Not a fan of dialogue like this.
