 Bushiroad and Nelke Planning have launched a large-scale project of "new feeling of live entertainment" titled Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight (Girls☆Musical Revue Starlight). The project will get both a TV anime and a musical. The main cast members consisting of seiyuu, stage actress, and idols, will partake in both formats. The five musical live performances will take place between September 22-24 at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo. Synopsis: Starlight—this is "Revue" of song and dance that's loved worldwide. Karen and Hikari, who caught their hearts by the stage, made promise to each other when they were young. "Let's stand on that stage together one day, for sure!" Time passes, and now Karen Aijou is 16 years old, who continues her lessons enthusiastically to keep her promise. The one who transferred to her school is Hikari Kagura, who was separated when they were young. The destiny starts to move with the reunion, and a mysterious audition starts. "Do you want to be a top star?" The person who passed the audition gets to be the lone top star that can get to shine. The only one that can get it is the "Revue" who stands above the battle royal stage. Karen and Hikari, as well as the chosen stage girls, participate to a mysterious Revue to make their dreams come true. Shining dream. Burning passion. Dreams that cannot give up to others. "Even if I have to fight against her!—" Revue Starlight that mixes comedy and tragedy—starts now! | Oh my goodness, I love musicals! I just got home from one too An anime about musical theatre!! There are anime about theatre, even 2 airing this season, Hinako Note and Kabuki-bu. But not one about musicals until now..! Seeing an all-girl ensemble, and dressed as gentlemen with swords, seems inspired by the Takarazuka Revue! I'm getting strong Ikuhara vibes (Utena and Sailormoon) And perhaps yuri vibes too...... Well they definitely go together! Could be a potential classic...? Even if not, it does look very enjoyable. The sakuga animation at the end of the PV is gorgeous. Cutie girls and actually good music. |

| So Love Live, but musical theater? I'm in. I see this going in one of two directions. The musicals will be pushed to the side and the focus will be on girls' friend drama and practicing, or the musicals will actually be prominent. I'll probably be fine with either since I liked the way Love Live handled things, but I'd love to see the later happen. I've been wanting a musical anime for awhile, one in the style of Disney where the characters break out into song despite it making no logical sense, but that just doesn't seem to be Japan's style, so this may be the closest I'll get. |

| I saw the musical last Friday (first show). First part was a musical, then there was a short live after the intermission. It has potential. Reminded me of a mix of Love Live, Aikatsu, AKB0048 and something else I'm having a hard time remembering the name of. ^^;; The anime starts in January, and they are also advertising another musical as well (20-22 Jan), although it's at AiiA, since it isn't a 2.5D show, they don't have international ticket sales or subtitle glasses that the 2.5D shows at AiiA get :(. |

Until now I can not get rid of the impression that the synopsis is intentionally written as a kind of story about the enamored girls. |
