Yup. Hope there is more to it then just generic characters. I was looking forward to this anime. The first episode was a disappointment, but you never know it might turn out to be a nice anime

You are one of the few people who say it was a disappointment. I do not understand how you can put a note with only 1 episode. It does not matter, what to expect from one who puts a 10 to Re: Zero

firemagnet said:
I agree with this. It's difficult to create a natural flow for something like this where ordinary characters are thrust into extraordinary circumstances.
How would you react if your fiction came to life after your tablet crashed, transporting you to a fictional world and then back again in the span of five minutes?
Besides, we know from Sota's own testimony that he's merely the narrator; hes' the plot device which is meant to introduce the larger players within the story.

@D4XT3R
It's just an observation about the episode one. I don't want to go into details whats wrong with this anime from episode one, but as a said it's just episode one and we will not see the true character and story development until approximately episode 6. About my Re: Zero rating, don't judge my anime list and having nothing to show in return.

at list my anime graph has it's proper form, not like yours:

@firemagnet
haha, how would i react? I would probably call someone over to my apartment and verify that i am not crazy, and after that i would kick the out to be honest. But that is boring.
We will see where this is going, we will see.

This premise is really interesting, I'm excited to see where the story takes us.
I mean, I'm not impressed because there are more consequences that could've been put in, but I like it thus far.

So many clues were given in this one episode. I feel like I figured out half the plot already. However I did thoroughly enjoy it, but I guess that was to be half expected from the director and the OST composer.

I admit I didn't knew anything about this show until it was announced in MAL, so I decided to give it a chance, mostly because of the voice actors and because the characters looked great. The first episode was amazing in setting up the premise; the character designs are great, the performances were genuinely emotional and the music was awesome! So far, the series aims to explore the nature of fiction and realiy, what with these characters attempting to find their real life creators. Still, given the 22-episode count, I would prefer to have some time to explore these characters. Yep, this show is definitely a keeper for this season!

That was a pretty good start, I do wish the MC was a bit more assertive but you can't have it all, character designs were neat, especially the white haired girl, as well as visuals and animation, OST is the usual repackaged Sawano stuff but I can't say I don't enjoy listening to it, overall I think this might end up as one of my favourites of the season if it keeps being this enjoyable to watch.

But why did you mention Henkei Shoujo?

That might have been a joke. As for whether the white mech will show up again, who knows. Main girl kept name dropping it though. Also, Monomagia (the black mech) is on the cover picture.

There will be another female mecha pilot waiting to make her debut in the show later on.
So mecha battles will have a big chance of appearing in the show

I intentionally hadn't read or seen any trailers or promotional materials before, to watch Re:Creators as freshly as possible.
First episode was awesome. I enjoy the characters, backgrounds, animations, story (so far) and music. Everything seems to be quite clear in the plot (at least it seems so), except the girl that jumps in front of the train at the beginning. It must have a meaning and connect to the rest, but for now I have no idea how it coalesces with what we know.

It was okay the action looked pretty but lacked substance. The music I would definitely say was the best part. Main guy was really bland and obviously a self-insert for the viewer which is just lame, why can't anime get away from it already.

if these "other world" characters are from japanese anime, then do they appear as "cartoonish" anime characters to the mc (ie their character forms from the actual anime)? or do they appear as 3D humans who look like cosplayers?

anyway, i really enjoyed the 1st episode. i gotta give props to the mc for being able to reason through such a situation. however, i hope that he doesn't remain as just a typical narrator/bystander throughout the show

I guess, to the people in that world, they look like real humans with literally unearthly well made cosplays (better than movie props). I doubt this issue is going to be talked about in the anime or the manga though.

I would really hope they do, and not appear as human's in cosplay. Because that would actually ruin the entire point of fiction crossing world's. Him entering their world, them entering his world, when his tablet flickered and he, "Entered." The Anime, if it didn't look like the Anime he was actually watching, that would just break the entire point of what the plot is supposed to be.

A story that surpassed all stories eh, IT WASN'T THIS LOL, nah this was pretty cool. Music was fantastic, visuals and action were pretty awesome, characters are cool, and the story seems interesting enough, though I have absolutely no idea what was going for the most part, I'm just kind of assuming a bunch of anime characters are being summoned from their respective worlds (or maybe a single world, not sure) and are fighting each other in our world for whatever reason. Still enjoying this a lot though.

Oh, and of course they can understand each other, they all conveniently speak Japanese, it's a common thing in anime, but it's still bullshit.

Though in this case it's perfectly justified: they're characters created by Japanese people, with all of their dialogue written in Japanese, so of course they speak Japanese.

Like in the fanfiction "sleeping with the girls" (quite good, actually deconstructs the self-insert), the characters likely appear as regular humans who are very similar in appearance to their originals, only with subtle differences, such as their hair colors being darker, etc.

Dat OST tho..just what you would expect from Hiroyuki Sawano.
Loving the cinematography and animations too. The usage of CGI wasn't too jarring, at least for me.
Had the same vibes with Fsn+FZ as well, with the MC resembling Shirou in many ways. This could very well be the best non-sequel anime this season. We'll see where it goes from here. Don't disappoint me, Rei Hiroe.

Already done:

focuses on:
Sailor Moon
Tenchi Muyo
Love Hina
Ranma 1/2
Ah, My Goddess.

Yes, it's better than it sounds, and focuses largely on deconstructing the trope of the self-insert. Done well because the MC isn't a mary-sue, makes (many) mistakes, and well...you'll just have to read it, won't you?

Sawano makes everything better. Decent animation from TROYCA, i remember Sakurako-san looking better though (i know, very different show).

So there are different creators in the world and the fictional characters came to life here and are going to adapt. I wonder how this will turn out.

As it's been pointed out before, the problem with Aldnoah Zero was the writing rather than the directing. The creator and writer of Aldnoah is Gen Urobuchi, who isn't involved in this project.

Was a interesting start, a mixed RPG and reality, when a young boy can now his favorite character anime!!!

Here the most important question is that, all is a truth or a mind fantasy? yes, yes the newspaper and the chats speaks about the event, but is possible all was a great utopia xD

I enjoyed this more than I was expecting. That was mostly because it seemed to break or make fun of anime/manga trends, it's almost as though they are sorta poking fun and Gen and other anime/manga writers while doing their own thing.

- Dude's mother is around, doesn't fully break the trend since it seems like single parent so far, but most of the time none are present.

- They make fun of the excessively complicated and asinine dialogue, naming and terminology in anime/manga.

- They reverse the whole character goes into a fantasy world trope.

- The mc doesn't spend an entire episode panicking on how she got into the world, she accepted the guy's evidence very quickly and rationally as well as the explanation of the "villain" (if she is even that).

- The premise seems very original, the characters seem to be looking for their creators, not sure why though.

I think the general lighter tone of the show and the good action scenes are a big draw as well. It's a lot better than I was expecting (was expecting an immediate train wreck after AZ) but it sorta feels like they made this show to make fun of AZ and others.

I'm not defending the show, it's just the first episode after all, I'm just pointing out that it's not the exact same people that brought you Aldnoah. The writer is Black Lagoon's mangaka, for what it's worth.

That being said, I have seen some people express a dislike for this director's style, so maybe that applies to you too and why you're still cautious about your expectations. That's cool.

So those fictional characters came to life and then they're finding their creator (author or character designer). Seems like an interesting premise. I'm surprised its 22 eps. I wonder where this show will head.
