Seiyuu Rie Yamaguchi has announced via her blog that she has retired from 81 produce as of February 28, and decided to retire completely from being a seiyuu as well as a singer. She is very blissful to be able to work in the job she had been admired since her junior high school years in her eight years of career, and thanked the staff members from her agencies for the support. She also mentioned that she will try her best in her new goal.

Yamaguchi voiced Taeko Hiramatsu in Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? series, Trish McKenzie in Freezing, Yumi in Dance in the Vampire Bund and more. Her latest role was Fuwari in Kamisama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama. She also released CDs under FlyingDog, mainly for Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? series ending theme songs.

Very few roles in 8 years since her debut. It's surprising that she didn't retire sooner. Her last role was in a show that began in 2011 and ended in 2014. But she only kept voice acting in 2013 and 2014 because of that single show. If she didn't land that one character, her last seiyuu role would have been in 2012. I wish her the best of luck.

I saw the name Rie and immediately thought it was Kugimiya or Tanaka, but it turns out it's just some no name without a single main role. Disappointing.

About damn time for her to quit.
She didn't get any main roles.
Nothing was lost, but good luck for her.

I loved her voice as Taeko Hiramatsu, but that's pretty much it.

Wish her luck in the future!

The seiyuu business is just like any other entertainment buisness. It's hard to get jobs. I can understand why she wanted to retire.

Good luck, I wonder why she didn't pursue voice acting, maybe she didn't want all the dirty men on her.

Saddening to see her retire with so few roles in her history. I hope she moves on happily and satisfied, with luck in whatever she chooses to do. <3

I didn't know her except for Freezing anime (which I wasn't even a fan of), Dance of the Vampire Bund (thought it was decent) and Kore wa Zombie desu ka? (didn't even remembered the role until now) but she barely had any roles, but I wish her good luck anyways.

Why are you being harsh for no reason? "some no name" Like you could do any better.

She is a no-name. Literally a stock voice actor that only was useful for a handful of anime. The fact that I could do a better job has nothing to do with it, so buzz off.

I guess even when dreams do come true they don't always get you as much money as you would expect. Good luck to her in whatever her next goal will be.

I wish her luck! I would love to hear what her new goal is and I hope she gets proper support there as well!

It's hard to get roles when starting out here in the American VA community, I wouldn't be surprised if it's even harder in the Japanese VA community. And then you have Dan and Phil who get roles just because they're popular with teens on Youtube. I swear it's like it's easier to become famous/internet famous and THEN pursue your dreams with that fame. Dang.

She made more of a name for herself than you ever will.

That's kind of sad... she dreamed of being a seiyuu for years and barely have anything to do in those 8 years. I hope she won't regret retiring.

I agree, and she ain't the only one who had such failed VA career, but unlike a lot who would just go and disappear, she is the only to come up with such excuse. Then again knowing that them Japs is a taboo to say that they "QUIT" , they probably opt to say they're retiring when they could have said that "I QUIT." No offends to her, but I wish her luck in finding a new career path............

I wonder what happens to VA's who didn't make it or only had a short stint..........hummmm, attend a university, be a salaryman, joint in some realty show or going into serious acting?

I really hope this is intended, but "retires" is an anagram of "retries", so it can mean that she will hopefully retry someday.

Seiyuu do more than just voice characters, they also have concerts, do drama CDs, host radio shows, etc. Why judge on just their roles...? >>

Though in this case it sounds like she's quitting the industry to pursue something more substantive. Best of luck to her!
