So Jean does more investigating this episode and wonders about the coup. Nice to see him get something for Lotta as well.

I'm not too surprised the Royal Family king would make his way into the town.
Episode got pretty tense. I do wonder what the King's next move will be from here.

Lotta sure does like getting presents from different districts. Schwan was shocked when he found out Jean is Lotta's older brother. Now he's worried there is someone in his way for his line of succession. Mauve was surprised Jean is of royalty blood. He didn't know either.

Seems like Niino must not get attached to Jean because Jean can be a threat (that one day might need to be eliminated), according to Qvalum (the one who was likely to grab Crow by the collar).

so he is actually next in line for the throne huh
i wonder if the king was actually aware who he is (i guess yes)

i love how Niino is supposed to spy on him (and well,he is) but they are just hanging out together everywhere.

okay so now things are clear.
- Jean should be the first in line heir to the throne
- Everybody expected the king to give his throne to the prince during his comming of age but he didnt. More like he hasnt made up his mind to retire OR to choose a heir
- Jean is the middle man of the coup d'etat, the success of it rely on him
- Jean has been receiving cigarettes and hospitalities from districts chiefs and branch directors (Famasu: potatoes, Jumoku: luxury room, Birra: most expansive hotel, etc...). in other words, they're byuing Jean

Conclusion: they're setting Jean as a contender for the throne, a heir that even the king himself may accept. Since he has been auditing to various districts, he has some very usefull knowledge

This looks so complicated. If anything there is not one coup group, otherwise they would not be moving that strangely. Different groups want different things, but seems like no one except the Prince himself wants to see Schwan on the throne.
I am still unconvinced on how Jean is of royal blood, while I am 100% certain Lotta has much more to do, after all, even in opening sequence she is the only one full-coloured in the black-white scene. Astonishing, what a gem we uncovered!

Well it's pretty obvious that Jean and Lotta are the children of the princess and guard who died thirty years ago so it would make sense that Jean has the royal blood in himself.

I... mhm... still do not want that to be true. But we will see.
And they did not exactly die 30 years ago, they were on the train that crashed.

I feel like I'm gonna get diabetes and lung cancer just watching this show... holy shit no wonder everyone in this show is skinny with no gains.

Anyway this episode was probably the most interesting by far the reveal with Jean and stuff and the meeting with the King.

Nino reporting to another person who isn't grosshular and the prince looking into the royal accidents, the plot thickens.

Royalty Jean has been revealed.

Now to see about the guard and the mother in the past. Nino will probably tell this story to Jean.

The king is definitely on the other end with Nino.

But that guard is supposed to be superfamous according to the other royal guards; so it wouldn't make sense for the king etc. not to recognize Nino when he was taking pictures of them on those two occasions.

Although the scene where Nino remarked that he had gotten so old was a little suspicious, I can't see Nino actually be his father. Although a half-brother or something might be possible (but I don't think that's the case)

Revelation......Jean and Lotta were of royalty, so I'm guess the disappearance of the princess and her bodyguard, stage their deaths and fell in love, where the end product is Jean and Lotta.

ACCA, Konosuba and Rakugo continue to be the holy trinity of 2017 as shows that most likely won't be topped this year. Scum's Wish comes close tho

It seems that finaly a lot of clues and plot threads that ACCA set up are coming together as the grand scheme becomes more clear. I love how tightly weaved this story is and the way it is told.

Still not sure on the endgame itself but Jean's role in the whole mess is a bit more clear now and the game being played seems to be clearer.

Some few questions were answered apparently.
So if I connect the dot, jean was eating cake with his ... grandfather or great grandfather. Jean's mother fled with her bodyguard lover after letting believe they died and then lived under a false name. Then how did they get this condominium to administrate? If it's from the king why then the secrecy? Just to live anonymously and free of the royalty's burden?
Prince Schwan is then a cousin of Jean or an Uncle? Who are his parents by the way? Who is the oldest from the two?

A new question : Nino got pretty emotional with his voice in the Bakery. At first I wonder if he could be a relative of the king aswell or rather of the first counselor.

Side topic : only one nation out of thirteen with female leaders. Dowa is sure a shit country for gender equality.

It is still off-putting to hear Lotta's voice sounding like a 10 years old kid.

Side topic: Utter crap.

Why the secrecy? Your guard - national hero runs away with you daughter and have kids. Then one day you say "Everyone, I have more grandchildren, let's celebrate!" Prince goes bat crazy, everyone is questioning princess morality and hell opens wide with everyone making bets on who is going to become a new king. Why the secrecy? Because the king is smart.

Why Nino got all emotional and who is paying their housing? The King himself is their secret benefactor. Nino is reporting to him, as if talking to a sweet friend. King is kind and does not have any problem with how informal Nino is, since he is both doing his job fine and is a friend to his grandchildren. Privy council president might be the one, through whom King is supporting them financially.
Prince Schwan is Jean's half-brother, if the whole story about their mother running away with Abend is true. No way to confirm it now.
Lotta is 16 years old. Sweet 16 year old girls sound like that (at least in Japan).

if some infos you give aren't in the anime and come from further chapter in the manga you should put a spoiler on it. As far as I'm concerned I don't know where the condominium is coming from.

Side topic is no utter crap. It's just overall reflexion about the amount of women in leading positions in our society, in anime in general and in this anime in particular. It's crap only for people who don't care about this issue.

Then I am glad I could not care less about non-existing issues. Everything I said is based on what I was presented in the animation and on my own knowledge of symbolism; what you do not know I tried to explain by tethering the acitivty in this and past episodes with logic.

So from district Auditor to next in line to rule the entire country. That's actually a decent way to raise a successor to be honest.

Can't wait for the story about his parents next week though. I suspect it's going to be some sort of elopement thingy that went well until they died in the accident or something. Also assuming the Silver haired guard was their dad.

That was a really good episode. So much information packed into one episode, with a lot of dot connecting happening.

From what I gather Nino is Jean's Guard. Jean's mother ran off with a white haired guard who was her lover I'm guessing.

Now that the crown prince is no longer the crown prince, he might rebel if coup sympathizers try and get Jean to become the heir to the throne.

During this episode I had this crazy theory that bread was being used as communication, and Jean's sister was in arms with Nino. Nino would take pictures to create a different narrative to either help Jean or Lotta become the rulers, because of the death of Jean and Lotta's parents. Although the whole thing changed when I picked up on Jean being royalty.

I think there were a lot of hints pointing out that the one on the phone with Nino is the King. And in this particular episode 1) Nino tells Jean that the store is closed and sets an exact time for the meeting the next day (precisely the time when the King visits the store) and 2) the King thanks Nino for the photographs (which is part of Nino's job as a watchman) and then Nino reflected on the fact that his supervisor acknowledged his work.

for the record:

king had three children - the three princesses
-the eldest, the 'aunt' in this episode still alive
-the second, the mother of lotta & jean, the one of the 33 yr ago incident
-the youngest, mother of Schwan

hints were there for a while, just needed that confirmation that they're royalty
-the commencement ceremony where the king didn't crown Schawn, also inviting Jean and (probs) through Nino getting Lotta - more of a signal of transfer of power to Jean, since out of everyone the only one who would've gained from the event would've been him. either that or he wanted to get his grandchildren together, see how they interact with power, and see who was fit to rule.

-blonde hair, blue eyes (weak argument, but visual characteristics are usually cues)
-the fact that Nino has stated that he's been watching over Jean since he was a fetus. why someone would need to watch over someone from birth shows their importance
-the opening where we see Otus in the king apparel

-and the biggest foreshadow (if you didn't get this one, you're doomed) was around the 11:30 mark for today's episode (a couple of min before the confirmation), where we looked into the portraits of royalty and see one that looks practically identical to Lotta

Oh man, this show just keeps getting better and better. So. Many. Revelations. From this one single episode alone.

Good thing Mauve was one step ahead of Jean, and didn't misunderstand him or anything. Jean's lucky to have such a solid ally, if you ask me. Such help doesn't come very often, I say.

So... it seems that a showdown between Jean and Schwan (or something like that) may draw near.

Next week isn't coming fast enough, lol. This is my AOTY, for sure. x3

I actually never give 10/10 on anything because I don't believe that anything in this world can be absolutely perfect... but I might have to make an exception this time. ;3

ADDED: At the time of this writing, nobody has voted 2-out-of-5 or 1-out-of-5 for this episode. Good, I like that. Two thumbs up from me for MAL. xD

Um... white haired bodyguard...

Suprised I didn't see anyone on the forum link the fact that the bodyguard Abend and Grossular have the same coloured hair. Obviously, Grossular can't be Jean's dad but maybe an uncle?

Anyways, I didn't quite believe it when the theories were floating around that Jean was royalty. It just seems so... odd. Honestly the last thing I'd have expected reading the synopsis and after watching the first few episodes. And then we get our first couple hints in the last couple episodes and then suddenly here Mauve comes up to Jean and boom! 'You're the first in line for succession' and like, WHAT THE ACTUALLY FF THOSE THEORIES WERE RIGHT???

Well then... what's next now I wonder

Nino said couple of episodes ago that they first met during their High School days though he also said (to himself) that he knew Jean more I can't remember if he mentioned the 30 years ago so I think Nino is older. I wonder if it was Jean and Lotta's mother that Nino was talking to when he was eating chocolate. Nevertheless this show is starting to get good.

Coming together like I predicted in the previous thread.

''The incident'' 33 years ago was likely a faked boat accident because Jeans mother had an affair with her guard and got pregnant and this was not proper. They went into hiding (with the kings blessing/help) but then were involved in the real train accident 13 years ago.

The king is Nino/Crows boss and set Crow on Jean early on to be a friend/spy.

Jean has asked multiple times to be reassigned but never allowed to. The King has him in this department because it allows Jean to wander the 13 regions and see for himself what the major issues are.

I think the coup is actually being set up by the King and will involve putting an educated and caring Jean on the throne in front of his brat son.
