I love watching them suffer as well >///<

I totally agree. There's a really fine line between smut and mature romance in anime, and this is just blatantly showing off the worst emotions love and sexual attraction can elicit. One of the best romantic dramas I've seen in a while. Here's hoping that it doesn't fuck up in the end!

Its a lot like Aku no Hana. Except the animation is traditional in Kuzu no Honkai xD

Yeah, of course your mind is even more twisted. Buhu. I guess you are a 2nd Light Yagami.

No, every women is bi is BS. And yes i know because i check and research studies for a living.
The study is flawed as fuck. And certainly not decently peer reviewed. Please don't belive everything just because "a study said so".

It's very honorable of you that you try to defend the obviously forced yuri-fanservice but that really isn't how it works in RL.

Good psychological episode. So entertaining as always that I didint feel the time passing by, Hanabi seems corrupted inside, but cant really judge her, she´s surrounded by people who really aren´t helping either. Im also wondering who is she gonna give her virginity, maybe not Mugi?

Honestly at this point I want to strangle Hanabi and Ecchan. More Ecchan then Hanabi, like come on bitch tone it the fuck down. You're in school and you're feeling her up. Also no one noticed where that hand was going? =/

Then Hanabi Jesus Lord, why are you going down the path of that bitch Akane? If you know you'll be hurting yourself and others WHY DO IT?!
Thank God for Inner Hanabi though, if she didn't exist Hanabi would be the biggest bitch in this anime.
I can take some pity on not being able to control actions when you know the actions are wrong.

Why is that dude making out with a High School girl though? I guess age knows no limits in Japan...I guess that's every where though huh?

Mugi...Mugi Mugi Mugi. Goddammit I had high hopes for you dude. Like he definitely has feelings for Hanabi, which is why he gets upset when crossing paths with Ecchan, and he thinks she's cheating on him. I guess when he said she kisses like normal, he knew as well that she as hiding it.

That end just seemed weird, was he happy Mugi thinks he is the only one Hanabi is with? or is he even more interested in playing with Hanabi's feelings?

Oh God why is Moca being dragged into this mess now!

In my opinion, Mugi and Hanabi aren't scums but just too fragile to changes around them so they are just blown up.
But I don`t like some of the way this anime goes actually, just being unique making it still worthy of a thing.

Hanabi, and partially everyone around her are falling deeper in to a spiral of chaos.

Still love Hanabi and Mugi moments the most.

Ecchan is basically giving Hanabi advice on how to become Akane v2. That is some pretty bad advice, but interesting in terms of development.

Well this episode was quite something.

Hanabi is just drowning deeper and deeper down the path to depravity. Plus she's only in high school. I can't really bring myself to understand what is driving Hanabi to go so far, Is she trying to cover her up loneliness? Is she trying to define her self-worth through other people? Is she just trying to get back at Akane? Heck is it everything? Well, whatever it is, I really feel sad, no pity her as she goes down this path.

Ecchan is still trying to force herself on Hanabi, even at the library. I wasn't expecting Ecchan to be so bold. :o

Initially, I thought Mugi would help Hanabi snap out of it after Ecchan warned him but damn, I wasn't expecting this kind of reaction from him. :(
Felt bad for Moca at the end, I really hope they don't corrupt the only decent character in this show. XD

All in all, I don't really think I like any of the characters any more. They're all twisted and broken with completely baseless morals. I haven't found any part of them, I can consider likable at this point and what's worse is they fall further and further into depravity. I guess, in a way that's what makes the show kinda interesting to watch since you wanna know how all these characters end up. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if someone committed suicide at some point.

Oh my glob.
This anime is a complete mess...but in the best way possible ofc.

Ah, looks like the forbidden fruit has brought out Ecchan's dark side- she's really taking advantage of the fact that Hanabi feels guilty for taking advantage herself. Emotional blackmail & an example of love turned sour at its finest.

She is totally in the running for a yandere, I swear! You better not nice boat us Ecchan!!

And Hanabi's problems are becoming less about her unrequited love for Kanai, and more to do with besting Akane who she looks at as stealing her potential happiness. I cannot believe she was testing out Ecchan's ideas about men on Takuya!
Looks like everyone's letting loose their inner Akane this week.
Ecchan and Hana have both locked away their true feelings to dissociate from their pain and Mugi sounds eerily like Akane with his thoughts about how boring & "unexciting" Noriko is.

But, although Mugi like the "dangerous" women, he also seems to like being in control...and boring=/= predictable and therefore easy to manipulate whether emotionally or otherwise.
I guess in this sense Noriko/Mugi parallels the Kanai/Akane situation pretty well!

Cannot wait to see what happens next in this cycle of whoredom!

Ugh, this episode. People feel bad for Hanabi?? This is not how you handle those kinds of feelings XD "Waah I'm lonely! I'm going to go mess with people's emotions in a sad attempt to make myself feel better!" No. I can relate to her feelings, but her methods are super scummy (and appropriate for this show).

I just hope everyone ends up with a super bad ending in this show tbh LOL

Saying "if she was a guy" doesn't really make sense though, because "if she was a guy" this wouldn't be happening at all. The dynamic is totally different between girls, especially when one of them is straight. Not saying I have direct experience, I've just talked to friends with similar experiences :P Granted, Ebato, like all the characters in this show, is portrayed melodramatically as "that thirsty lesbian friend" so of course it's going to come off as creepy XD I think her actions towards Hanabi are just as feasible as anyone else's, and in the grand scheme of things, she's probably the least dangerous atm.

Its sad to see Ecchan getting broken down this much via her seeking reaffirmation for her identity. This show can be so damn depressing.

Hanabi is trully going down the path of becoming Akane 2.0. Pitiful in a way but expected.

In other news Mugi is an awful person as expected. I fully expect people to make up excuses for him(while at the same time condemning Akane) because that's what happens when a male starts doing those things instead of female. Oh well.

One thing is clear in that nobody truly loves anybody in this show. Everyone is just trying to satisfy their own ego at the cost of others. Likewise even if Mugi and Hanabi end up in "real" genuine pairing, I don't see it lasting. Because it would be too boring and too genuine for either of them to be satisfied.

Can't wait to see how this crashes and burns.

Ecchan is basically doing the same thing that guys did to her to make her hate men. She is forcing herself on Hanabi even tho Hanabi wants to date Mugi for real. But rip now Hanabi's gonna prob do it with a bunch of other guys. This stuff in this anime is messed up and kind of happens irl but the only thing that isn't realistic in this anime is that Akane has no STDs yet (she might).

All these characters are completely screwed for one reason or another, all of them making frustratingly bad decisions that also happen to make sense for their characters, which perhaps makes it all the more frustrating. First of all, I have lost a lot of the sympathy I had for Ecchan, as she's not only content with having - and essentially harrassing - Hanabi, she's also trying her best to screw up Hanabi's relationship with Mugi. Mind you, the actions of both Hanabi and Mugi mean she might not need much help with that, even before considering how the prospect of Hanabi cheating on him distinctly excited him.

I think the thing that frustrates me the most, yet demonstrates how clever the show is, is the fact that Hanabi and Mugi are both so desperate (albeit for different reasons) that they are completely blind to what's in front of them; sure, their relationship isn't exactly ideal either, but it's definitely better than what they're doing instead.

I really wonder how this ever-expanding web of complex emotions can ever be resolved in another 6 episodes, but I'm definitely excited for the ride, no matter how much more painful it continues to get.

For some reason i only accept first kisses from opposite sexes, and if its male its ok to kiss as much as u want and if its female its not ok and shes a slut, only in anime ofc WHICH I HATE THAT I THINK LIKE THAT. Wow, Sanae is taking the words right out of my mouth. I'm getting that weird feeling, i know it's wrong, but i kinda wanna see her darken, even if only temporarily. Fuck me, no i want Hanabi to get her happily ever after, wherever and whomever it might be with. She's so goddamn cute. Watching her darken is intoxicatingly satisfying even though i feel bad for her and just want to hold her and console her.

Also her and Mugi, an effect of substitution i'm all too familiar with. It's a transferable method of optimistic reification. You impose an ideal image of one thing onto the other, and eventually you'll come to see the good parts of the other independently. It's how you voluntarily expand your interests.

It's probably wishful thinking but I still wish Akane wasn't an evil b!tch. I feel it would've been far more interesting seeing how Hanabi and Mugi deal with their relationships if both their crushes sincerely loved each other.

Instead, it's now some depressing mess of how and who do I love to get back at that evil b!tch and make me feel less sad...

Also, honestly, not that I'm an expert or anything, but I feel like Hanabi would be so much better off just admitting her feelings to her crush (shit, forgot his name). If he loves her, all's good. If he doesn't, it would hurt but she can freaking move on, and that Akane slut would have pretty much no power over Hanabi anymore. It might've been another story if Akane and Hanabi's crush actually loved each other, but Hanabi knows it's one-sided, so I feel like she has strong grounds to step in. I mean, the real issue here is that Akane is a slut that's seducing the poor fella because she's bored. Like seriously, wouldn't addressing that be the more sensible approach than trying to achieve I-dunno-what by becoming a better slut than Akane???

It's honestly frustating af watching Hanabi trying to fight fire with fire by being a bitch herself.

Before, I felt pretty sad for Hanabi. Her love life was flawed af, seemingly because of unfortunate circumstances and so it felt like I was watching some tragic heroine struggling with her reality, in questionable (scum-ish) ways, but in a way that intended to bring little harm to others. And that was fascinating to watch. Now, with what she's doing, she's actually trying to be a freaking scum, which isn't really very fascinating anymore and mostly just ugggghhhhh...

I really hope the Mangaka has a crystal clear resolution to this entire mess because I have no idea how going in this direction can lead to anything great.

Moving on, I like Moca now. Hated her intro, but like someone else mentioned earlier, she's the only pure one here. Heck, she's doing exactly what I feel Hanabi should do (seriously, I can't see any reason for Hanabi not to straight up confess except fear of rejection). It's sorta sad seeing how Mugi is treating Moca. Now if only her voice wasn't so annoyingly childish...
The most annoying thing about some anime is that they don't know when they've died...

I just find it funny that a lot of people that were on her bandwagon as best girl, are jumping off it after this episode. She's scum like most of the cast, but her type of scum is more controversial than the others, I mean she's taking advantage of the fact that her friend just can't say no to her, so she's committing sexual harassment that's almost borderlining rape, sorry I can't just sympathize with her actions even if I can understand why she's doing them. As for Mugi's current behavior, I'd rather not say to much as it would spoil next weeks episode for you, but I'll just say it isn't as bad as you think.

Thats mostly just part sexism part homophobia.

What Ecchan is doing is desperate sure but it is not in anyway worse than what Mugi or Hanabi or Akane are doing. Except that while their's comes form the need to satisfy their ego, Ecchan's desperate behavior comes form need of affirmation for her sexual identity which is actually understandable issue and actually common issue with real life people struggling with their sexuality. Its an extremely different issue than with Hanabi or Mugi.

Hanabi is reaching for things she can't have but she is satisfied with not having her love interest available. It creates drama and importance in her life and she can't stand Akane taking that from her, so she is willing to become Akane to be "important" now. Because she saw Akane for what she is and became jealous of that. Of course she could still escape that since she doe shave some doubts about her own behavior, but I have no idea how it would go overall. The "normal" unimportant existence would be just boring for her.

Mugi is pretty much all for thrill of the hunt. He is only interested in "abnormal" relationships, due to , yet again most likely ego(as well as his past experiences). Normal and healthy is boring for him. In fact I doubt he and Hanabi would even be a couple without all the messed up things happening because it would be too boring and too normal.

Ecchan on other hand is struggling with WHO she is being right. Hanabi is a target interest that forms her sexual identity so letting go of that would essentially mean letting go of the firm understanding of self yet again. Sure its not healthy or right, but what she is struggling with is more about reaffirming who she is, that what she is feeling is not somehow "wrong". Technically while Hanabi and Mugi want to be protagonists of their own stories of misery, Ecchan's struggle is about self-worth and self-identity. I honestly pray she escapes the vicious cycle that Hanabi and Mugi dragged her into.

Hanabi and Mugi : "let's date for real! we might fall in love for real."
Me : "Yeeeeeeah!"

And then Hanabi go on a date with this random guy picked up from Akane's Harem, worse : he only thinks with his D..k (that was missing in this show), apparently the thought of it turns Mugi on and on a whim he proposes to two-time with Moka!
Me : "Nooooooooo! What's wrong with you guy?"

Apparently, unlike Akane, Hanabi still (until when?) has a conscience but not strong enough given that Ecchan is here to draw her down to the dark side of the force. Ecchan turning even more into a stalker, harasser, playing dirty with Mugi, playing evil in Hanabi's ear but that's ok because ... she is in looooove. Actually I like Ecchan character's writing because she embodies pretty realistically a hideous side of love that exists out there. How many girls for instance had their ex-boyfriend harassing them after rejection?

All in all a painful episode.

However, I understand the feeling Hanabi has... like... Sometimes you just feel so empty and need someones to hold you... It can be a temporal answer, but not very long-lasting... She's just a young girl after all
Also, I can't judge the other characters because you know, humans are like that, very selfish and stuff... We all are. The only thing I can say I dislike is Ecchan's behavior... I feel like she's forcing Hanabi, and don't like it at all...
Well, I crave for next week episode so... Let's wait to see what happens >///<

Best possible Kuzu no Honkai ending: Characters realize their depravity and move on
Second best possible Kuzu no Honkai ending: All characters die in a school shooting

Hana's become more and more like Akane and is pretty conscious of it. I expect she'll turn even darker and I can only hope she'll come to her senses sooner or later.

Ecchan...ugh. Her love for Hana was pretty pure (the backstory was good) but now it's disgusting. Now she's a stalker and molester. She knows Hana doesn't love her and is becoming a slut but still chooses to love her.

Mugi probably has a thing for sluts. His "tramp detector" was totally going off.

Ahh we haven't seen Moca in a while. It's good that she points out the truth to Mugi, though not having any effect. Sadly even she accepts Mugi who she probably knows is flawed.

Onii chan is a nice guy as usual (depicted in flashback), despite having sex with Akane.

I don't mind the dark progression, it is the ending the anime has to nail. The characters should have a good one (moving on / realization of true feelings i.e.MugixHanabi).
“Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth. But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete..." -Alphonse Elric

"Then and now, what I protect has never changed!" -Sakata Gintoki

I'll take anything like The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. Anything as good as that.
