Okay, okay, so the cat's finally out of the bag, Akane is someone who enjoys being desired by other men. I kinda feel sorry for her though, she won't ever get to feel actual love of she goes on like this.

It seems like every episode makes my heart break for Hanabi, yes, she takes advantage of Ecchan and that's exactly why she knows that she is losing her friend... Damn...

This series is delivering a lot of feels

Solid episode. Why is no one talking about Hanabi saying she'll change however she has to? I'm excited to see how she'll change.

Somehow I don't feel a lot hate for the teacher. I think it's when she said "you just don't realise that you belong to this side too." Like it is true right maybe that's why I just can't get myself to hate her. Fucking gold anime 10/10

Wow, Akane is really a fucking unique character that just makes you either despise her strongly or appreciate her line of thinking. Well, I really like her as a character and hope she doesn't get diluted down the line.

If only the show reveals that the ultimate scum is Kanai-sensei, then I'll grant it a whopping 10/10.

Now we know Akane sensei is a b*tch... she should get the School Days ending
“Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth. But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete..." -Alphonse Elric

"Then and now, what I protect has never changed!" -Sakata Gintoki

I'll take anything like The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. Anything as good as that.

Oh, no. Ecchan is taking advantage of Hanabi, but Hanabi is also taking advantage of her in a way too, so...
Gotta say, Ecchan is fortunate that Hanabi responded the way she did. Put yourself in Ecchan's shoes for a moment: imagine coming out to your best friend but also being deeply in love with them. Said friend might find it absolutely disgusting and end the friendship right there. That would have been devastating to Ecchan. I guess that goes to show how empathetic Hanabi is.

And then, on the other hand, we have Akane. Clearly, she's lacking in empathy. Nothing wrong with a woman being aggressive and enjoying sex to the extent she does, but I wish that was all I could say about her! No, she actively hurts others and doesn't seem to really give a shit that she's doing so. Sure, the last scene with her might have been a little over-the-top, but there are people like this in real life - women and men both.
Really, I just want to know what could have possibly fucked her up so much to turn her into the type of person she is. It'd be nice to find out in a future episode, but we'll see. What a terrible woman. Scary.

Yeesh, this show is painful. Other than Akane, who is just plain terrible and revels in that fact, all the characters we focused on this episode are just doing their best in their own ways and it's painful to see how badly that's screwing them over. Kanai is screwed cos he happened to fall in love with someone like Akane - who I suppose can be slightly sympathised with considering she will likely never be able to experience true love - while Ecchan is taking advantage of Hanabi's feelings to act out her desires on her. As for Hanabi, she thinks she's taking advantage of Ecchan as well, which I suppose she is by allowing her to run wild and essentially leading her on, but either way the whole thing is entirely unfair for the both of them.

This is definitely going to end with pretty much everyone completely miserable for one reason or another, and I simply cannot wait to see how that plays out.

Man, I would never thought this anime can be my favourite this season but it is. I love it! I can relate to these characters. They seem real. One exception is yuri and that one has broken my image a little in this ep _^_ But well, I'll get through this xD I'll pretend it didn't happen or sth... Back to the point... I love Hanabi and Mugi. I haven't read the manga so I don't know how will this end but I have hopes for those two to be together. I haven't predicted I say this when I started to watch ep 1 xD The way story is told here also is great imo. I really like it. Can't wait to see more!

I see absolutely no reason to judge Akane for what she is doing. Its a show of emotionally broken awful people using others for their own self satisfaction. Any kind of hate really can only come from sexist double standards because let's be frank none of those people, apart maybe Ecchan or Narumi are "good" people".

I can't hate Akane personally. I see a broken person with broken sense of emotional support and twisted need for reassuring her self-worth.

In fact the way I see it, Akane is an interesting look into Hanabi's own future because their MOs align in a way. Both are using others to feel needed and valued and to satisfy their egos. Akane simply seems to have completely abandoned ever seeking "real" things and is far more broken than Hanabi is now, but Hanabi is walking towards similar path.

Hanabi is a teenager trying to fulfill and satisfy her ego and throwing a tantrum for not being able to have someone she likes, but at the same time there's a certain sense of self-importance in the whole "tortured love" for both Mugi and Akane. Its why I don't really see them staying together even if the writing goes for the cliche of them realizing feelings for each other. Simply because its already an everyday occurrence for them. Compared to the unobtainable idea of this idealized "love" they can't obtain their own romance would feel so damn generic and what's more it would no longer make them feel like central characters in some grand soap opera.

I mean seriously Hanabi is already kind Akane to Noriko's Hanabi when it comes to Mugi. Not to mention the way the things seem to be going with Ecchan. Its kind of hypocritical of her to despise Akane for doing something she already is doing.

Otherwise Ecchan remains heartfelt and touching story. The writers did a great job creating a believable LGBT characters with her and a lot of her thoughts and experiences are realistic and fit her situation and I hope that she gets to at least come out unscathed from all of this mess. Alas with anime tropes that is very unlikely.

I still don't understand why Hanabi considers herself scum here or why anyone else agrees with her that she's somehow like Akane..... she's not.

Akane derives pleasure from the suffering of others. That's straight-up sociopathic behaviour. She's a terrible person.

Hanabi doesn't take pleasure in the suffering of others, she is just trying to find love and solace in others. That's no different than trying to find water in a desert, it isn't selfish, it's just trying to live. She's the only person this episode that explicitly stopped, thought about the feelings of someone else she might seriously hurt, and then averted to try and find her own solace.

I don't see how she thinks she "used" Sanae even. Sanae wants to fuck her. Sanae knows full well it probably can't work, and Hana finding solace in her sexually, while maybe a bit unbalanced, isn't really "using" Sanae. Sanae did kind of take advantage of Hana to some extent, which is a little bit douchey, but that is a rather complicated situation and Hana didn't reject her advances, twice.

So Akane was a super-cunt, Sanae was a little bit scummy, but Hanabi has actually been fairly normal/reasonable in all this. I, for one, hope Hanabi comes out of this happy in the end, though that seems like a long-shot.

One thing i like about this series is that they have someone actually "fight" for what they want. Normally we only see 2 girls trying to reach for a guy but they ended up hesitating because it'll hurt the other.

But Kuzu no Honkai is a different thing, this is real war to satisfy oneself, fight for what you want or you'll ended up suffering. On top on that they provide us with different viewpoint from many characters, not just from the main lead to see things clearer, which is a rare thing that not many anime have.

Wow Akane is a terrible person. The only reason she's with basically any guy is because someone likes that guy. If Hanabi stops wanting Kanai, she'll ditch him instantly. Even though Hanabi knew that Kanai liked Akane, it still hurt her after hearing his confession. And Akane had her come there to witness that. And instead of bothering Mugi, Hanabi has some lesbo sex with Ecchan. Probably the right choice lol. I did expect some sex in this show, but I was thinking more along the lines of hetero sex and not homo sex, though I don't mind this kind of homo sex.

Akane is exploiting those guys who want her so that the girls who want those guys enter a world of emotional pain and suffering because she's some god damn sadist. Hanabi feels she's like Akane because she's using others too, especially Ecchan, for herself. She was using Mugi as a replacement, but now she made use of Ecchan's feelings for some lesbian time and to awaken to her own yuri side, probably.

This show is so full of crappie scum selfish and overall terrible people and Kanai looks so out of place here lol. I don't think I'll come to like any of these people, but I do find things kinda interesting and worth watching. Plus there's a hot lesbian turning her friend into a homosexual.

I think that depends on what your knowledge entails about real life people and their desires. I know 2 people that totally share some traits with Akane and thinking about what desires and fetishes humans are actually able to develop, romantic exploitation is not too far off. Some people simply have the desire to mess with others, they want to feel superior and the only way the can get this kick is through what their "abilities" allow. Akane is a visually stunning woman and she plays with her feminine charm that entangles people into her trap. This is how she expressed her superiority and this is what gives her life.

For other people it's success in your job, friendship, hobby, certain "products" or a pure long lasting relationship. There are morally acceptable and morally questionable things that fulfill you in life and well Akane certainly goes into the more twisted territory. Of course the anime takes all of that and exaggerates it but this part of fiction and even more so anime. So for me she totally fits into this series whose name is totally in line with what and who she is.

yeah but that's the thing. "twisted" really is an understatement. I didn't get the feeling that she's twisted, I got the feeling that she's literally evil, which isn't something I'd ever call someone as in "that person is 100% evil".
Making her a bit more nuanced so that we could see some good things about her rather than just this villain character would help me take her seriously... I can get behind people having flaws and being imperfect and like I said, that's the reason I liked the series so far but this is character is going too far for me personally.

But oh well, like I said it was just an explanation as to why some people might not have liked it.

What's so hard to take seriously? There's way more twisted people in our society that enjoy things that involve physically torturing & killing others, or animals.

A gorgeous woman that enjoys being wanted by men and toying with them? Hell man, I know two people like that if I just look at some of my relatives ~ there's plenty of them if you look around enough :P

Just for you guys who are worried about the teacher becoming some unsealstic and cliché villain, I do agree they're overdoing it but coming from a manga reader I can tell you they explain her situation more further down the line and what she's doing leads to a huge character arc for Hanabi so yeh it doesn't get worse than this as long as they adapt it well which they have been doing a good job of

I almost sent a girl like Akane to the hospital for toying with my best friend's feelings. I found it out when I went for a walk with him and saw this (was) girlfriend of his clearly going all lovey-dovey with another guy.
So first I asked my friend whether he kniws that other guy and he said no and I took action straight away. Broke the guy's nose and almost tried to badly injure the girl (I decided that she's lost her womanly rights so I went rage mode on her). If it weren't for my friend pulling me back she'd be set on fire on the spot.
I shipped them all along since I match-made them. What a disrespectful opportunist bitch. She used her good looks to toy with men.
Same goes for this Akane, it's relatable. I'd just go become Iori Yagami and perform Yaotome on that bitch.

This show just makes me hate everything, but it's so good.

It's amazing to me how Hanabi and Akane are basically in the same position, but from completely opposite perspectives. Hanabi acts entirely on genuine emotion which results in her rejecting every guy, while hooking up with a guy which simultaneously hurts two other people (Ecchan and Noriko). Akane is just so easy to hate , taking advantage of three naive people who are all acting on pure emotion.

There's no way this ends well for Hanabi. Even though she acts amorally, she is hurting at least two people while chasing two people who are both in love with Akane. Everything that Ecchan (and maybe Noriko) does to her she deserves for hurting them, but at the same time she is a tragic victim of circumstances that she had no idea or intention of causing. Her actions are just as cold as Akane, but it's so different because of their perspectives.

I genuinely hope nobody dies, even Akane. They tell a great story without the need of death, and it would be a shame to force this on the main characters. I could be proved wrong, but I don't like death as a solution to anything in shows like this.

Still annoying with that manga panel style they use sometimes. We could see a bit more of the teachers and their thoughts. I don't know if this is a good thing.

I'd prefer if the show focused only on Hanabi - she is the most interesting char. Female teacher seems interesting as well. Ecchan and the male persons are not interesting.

Episode was okay. But for some reason it is hard feel with the chars - even though they show a lot about their feelings/thoughts and I like Hanabi a lot (she is cute). I guess it's the pacing and all the weird changes from normal scene to manga panel style which feels random. (Not a good director or whoever is responsible for it.)

This anime just keeps on getting better and better.
Both Akane and Hanabi are toying with others selfishly, but Hanabi is aware of what she's doing (cue the 'congrats, you're scum now, too' scene), while Akane is a straight-up sociopath.

But being immature, sadist and bullying a teenager on top of that? That's what makes her character less credible.

Many women do what they want with their ass but they usually aren't focused on destroying others happiness, they just "enjoy their sexual life" free from religious prudery. Here with Akane it's different, we go in the well known binary (black or white) anime villain territory. Not so cool from my perspective for this kind of story, but as mentioned before, since she is a side-character, I don't bother too much, it's just one little flaw.

and reading the comments, many seem to be happy to have the possibility to call a woman a bitch without restraint. That's more convenient than some other female characters doing "bad" things but doubting and suffering in the same time, like Ecchan or Hanabi, who are definitely from my perspective a lot more interesting because they are in the grey zone.

Everyone really is scummy, and since it's obvious that Akane is the real villain here, I'm going to mourn the fact that Hanabi won't take the high road and be more honest about her feeling and instead wants to be a "better villain" than Akane. But the real tragic story here is going to be Moka and Mugi. They are both clueless and in love, those are the types that really end up losing here. I though Ecchan too but, since she has no problems being so aggressive to Hanabi about her feelings while knowing it'll lead nowhere, she deserves exactly what she's gonna get.
