| They love anime and they envy Japanese people and they want to go to Japan but they don't know any Japanese and they want everyone to know that they like anime so they keep on chugging the words they know into casual conversations so they're cute. Give them a cute anime plushy they'll run off yelling KAWAIIII. They're the reasons why I can think of. I don't think it's necessarily bad, but it's hella annoying. |

I've been hearing them say it over and over for god knows how long, and it seriously is one of the most annoying things on the planet. Why do they say it all the dang time?! I use "kawaii" (and words derived from it according to the rules of my native language), because the word normally used to translate it is not part of my active vocabulary, and is too girly and outdated in general. And I need to use it, because I like cute things a lot. Which might be because of anime. PiratDunkelbart said: Its their form of youth slang to distance themselves from the norm and in this case also from their peers to demonstrate theyre different. In their world theyre cool this way, though ofc the others dont understand them. ;) Also its mostly used by people, who are already outcasts and dont fear to get beaten up. Indeed. Why is the concept of "subculture" so alien to people on this forum? I know USA is full of subcultures too! _Ako_ said: AveryGamerDude said: Everywhere I go, I see stupid weeaboos going like: "Oh! That's so Kawaii desu ne!" I've been hearing them say it over and over for god knows how long, and it seriously is one of the most annoying things on the planet. Why do they say it all the dang time?! I need translation dude... Seems like you don't need it because you speak it, but I don't... The phrase he's using means "Oh! That's so cute!". "kawaii" means "cute", and is usually applied to describe kittens and lolis. Apparently, girls and women in Japan really like to be called "kawaii", especially the ones who are "beautiful" or "impressive" rather than "cute". Cute ones might even get angry (cutely), because they feel they're treated like a child. "desu" is a verb with roughly the same (lack of) meaning as "is". "ne" should add some kind of extra grammatical meaning, but I'm not sure which one. It doesn't matter, because you can always infer it from context and intonation. it's a meaningless word salad which translates to something like "cute sushi warrior, isn't he?". "sushi" - a kind of food, mostly made of rice, fish, seaweed and vinegar. "samurai" - an aristocratic warrior of middle ages Japan. They are the people who would kill each other with katanas (swords), shoot yumi (bows), wear o-yoroi, commit seppukku (harakiri), defend villages for a bowl of rice and do pretty much everything middle-ages Japan is remembered for. "desu yo ne" is a meaningless grammar construct that makes the sentence a statement that wants you to agree with it (if my grammar is right, which it often isn't). All these words are well-known in the West. Do you really not know their meanings? IJN_Musashi92 said: That or see people who do not even know what Kancolle is but will say "Poi" for no reason. Can say something like Yuudachi poi? or Hawaiian Poi? They have No ideal what I'm talking about so call them stupid. Let alone in Japanese you not going to hear some one say Poi in there daily life unless they joking around with anime friends. It seems that Yuudachi's excessive use of "-ppoi" is the same as a stereotypical fashionable teenage girl overusing "like". Like, using like, is, like, cool! Like, everybody, like, do it! No idea if somebody actually speaks like that in Japan. |

If I had to deal with some body like that in real life here, it get so annoying that would want to avoid them like how i avoid white men who have yellow fever and try to hit on me. (Is rare but it happens) When think of people like that, think of "Ganguro" girls who would be like that. The kind of people who think look silly so avoid if see any of them. As far as normal people, Runing into people who talk like that is rare. Do know a Co-worker who says "Hai"[Yes] way to damn much however. Told her one day at lunch talking to her "Mou hontou ni yamete kudasai!" [More are less: Really, would you please stop that!] She knows she has a Bad habit of over saying "Hai"[Yes] when she talks, she says her parents never let her say "Iie" [No] growing up. Now on the topic of Poi and Yuudachi! lol I was born a "Hafu"[Half] so how does that work poi? XD |

What I find annoying is everything surrounding this fanbase including the fanbase itself because its extremely toxic and it consists of some of the most irritating people on the internet. I'm not offended by weeaboo nor anything people say because I don't have a thin skin. What bugs me though is the constant use of this term and anime fans AND haters constantly trying to portray themselves as superior just because they say "fuck weeaboos!!!" Though, my hate for this fandom, the haters and everything around it goes a lot deeper than that. I just find the entire structure toxic and am at the point where I will probably not discuss anime anywhere outside certain areas again because its gross. |

Though, my hate for this fandom, the haters and everything around it goes a lot deeper than that. I just find the entire structure toxic and am at the point where I will probably not discuss anime anywhere outside certain areas again because its gross. I agree with you. Hell on English online games like MMOPRG's the very moment somebody talks in Japanese or the word anime is said there is always some assholes who come out of the Online wood work to start calling people weeaboos and stuff. I just start to laugh my ass off about it when some one trys to call me a weeaboo for talking in Japanese or saying some thing about Anime. Some times I will even explain to there stupid hateful ass that talking in Japanese don't make anybody a weeaboo, what if the person who is talking in Japanese is in fact Japanese? By there logic anybody who is born with Japanese in them and can speak there Japanese language is a weeaboo. That is labeling any Japanese person as a weeaboo and can be seen to some as racist therefore they are fucking racist to Japanese people. A weeaboo would be a person who is Non-Japanese who loves the Japanese culture so much that they wish they was born Japanese in some way and wish to live in Japan. Anime itself is just apart of Japanese culture. So if a Person who was Born with Japanese in them Loves anime that is a part of there OWN Japanese culture, just how can they be seen as a Weeaboo? Now if a Non-Japanese person loves Japanese culture and part of the culture just so happens to be anime, why are they seen as a weeaboo and not just somebody who loves a other culture then there own? Would they be so kind to explain all of that to a Person who was born half Japanese who can speak Japanese who lives in Japan and loves there own culture even if they are Half Japanese. If you can't explain to me any of that you might just be a uneducated spiteful racist to anything Japanese.. Now why is that? About around that time they leave the room and hide like the chicken shit they are will try really damn hard to explain themselfs as to how they are not stupid, hateful or racist and fail at it so bad that other people start to make fun of them, then they disappear and will not see them around really no more. lol |

| Just because someone that likes anime says "kawaii", "desu" and other generic anime (japanese) phrases doesn't mean that he/she is a weeaboo, just want to get that out of the way. 95% of people that you saw saying those words are trolls probably, because only few actual humans will say those words unironically. |

| Because they watch too much cute anime and the word gets stuck in their head to the point that it becomes a conditioned reflex whenever they talk. I can tolerate the "desu" since whenever I hear the word, I think of this: I just hope that they graduate from their "desu" habit of theirs. Otherwise: |
