I'm really enjoying this anime :D

In this episode I liked how Sakuma managed to figure everything out. Also, I am glad that he didn't have to kill himself (given how the previous episode ended I seriously thought that he was going to commit the harakiri XD)

I have to say, Sakuma really redeemed himself this episode. He made so many mistakes and was literally just a pawn in the first episode, but he managed to figure everything out in the 2nd episode. I feel like his fuck ups were just part of his character development and to push for him to not just be a pawn.

Sakuma is already getting some great character development! ~

OOOHHH that was nice. Seems like Sakuma is quite perceptive as well if he needs to. Also I'm wondering what the final monologue really meant. He could have been saying that above both groups, soldiers and spies, basically. Sakuma probably was talking about the life as a soldier but that fact won't change much for the life of a spy.

I am really digging this anime. They're carrying through this theme of spies quite well and it does get quite thrilling when it needs to. Here's hoping they are able to continue this way.

This series so far hasn't touched much of the politics in WW2, especially that of Imperial Japan in East Asia. So far it has done a recent job at portraying that era as neutrally as possible (which some might take offense). Let's see if this can continue to play that fine balance or reveal more subtle rhetoric instead.

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Would've been more interesting had Sakuma, or more preferably some Army man actually died and then have D Agency use the known subterfuge actions to their advantage of turning American-san into a double agent or whatever.

Pretty interesting secondary plot with the conspiracy behind the second raid. It seems like this guy is being trained, even if he isn't one of them.

There's definitely some war propaganda going on in this series now.

It's just annoying to see all the Japanese pro-war propaganda in it. It seems like some scenes are almost trying to romanticize it.

Already two out of five comments stating this and I can't see why. I'm certainly dumb because I thought this was an inner-conflict that was being portrayed here. And where are the depictions of the beautiful period it was?
The former superior of the hero is shown as an egoist ready to blame other people supposed to work toward the same goal as him (Japanese supremacy) in order to erase his own lack of efficiency.
The D Agency chief seeks funding through secret pressure.
The military corp is presented as blinded with the country's ideology, this propaganda even going against their own obligations. (in other words, the way the people were "reduced to slaves" by their country is an handicap for the country)
The hero himself is at first someone who can't think above what was being taught to him and is ready to spoil his own life when it is absolutely useless and groundless.

The hidden agendas, the way Satsuma begins to think, almost everything was good, but I would have prefer a double-length episode than recycling the end of the first one in the second one.
I see where it could go: the hero, now starting to be aware of the truths around him, will slowly become more "independant" while still willing to serve his country's interest. (less blind than before) Without being as jaded as the spies in the Aency.
I hope there will be a hint of an international affaire at least toward the end of this story. (I know it is only the introduction novel in a trilogy but maybe?)

Sakuma really wised up this episode, that was thoroughly enjoyable to see the more deductive side of him. Once he cast aside one dimensional loyalty to the emperor and started thinking outside of the box, it's like all of the answers started to flow in towards him.

I really have no idea how people are confusing historical fiction with propaganda. The Japanese nationalism is through the roof because that's what it was really like back then. The emperor was literally worshiped like a god, the kamikaze attacks on Pearl Harbor were a byproduct of that intense loyalty and devotion. If anything, this show is deconstructing the overzealous patriotism since D-Agency has already established that its purpose is not for the nation, the leaders, or the people.

Great episode. I like how the show keeps you guessing things, and it's not predictable what's gonna happen.

Of course Sakuma wouldn't be killed off in only the 2nd episode but it was still thrilling to see how he would get out of that hara-kiri situation! Looking forward to more!

Another good episode. As a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, I dislike Yuuki getting one over Mutou.
If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).
