Wandering around the area, Elesia eventually stopped at the cafeteria doors. Inside, there was not a single soul, so with great gusto, she ran over to the cafeteria line, looking through into the kitchen.

"Hello! Is anyone there!?"

No one answered. Shifting her eyes a bit, she saw the sign "Closed until:", but there wasn't a time written.

"That's a shame." She frowned, her hopes for food dashed. She wasn't actually that hungry, but she wanted to see if and when they served curry, her culinary obsession. Of course, the school's curry wouldn't be able to match her fathers, but then again...she'd have to settle for what she could get.

With her hopes dashed temporarily, she threw herself down on a chair and sat alone in the cafeteria, her head propped up on an elbow, her dark blue eyes peering out the window. She waited. For what, she did not know.

Nightshade was still dripping wet when she walked into the Cafeteria and she shook her body forgetting again how strange that may look, for her to do out of her wolf form.

"So, how's everyone's day been going? I'm Elesia by the way. Pleased to meet you." She held out her hand to the two of them, not caring about how the wet girl looked. After dealing with wacky characters of all sorts in her career as an Agent as a church, a girl shaking off water was as normal as a country bumpkin in a pumpkin patch.

"Just introductions of the heads of school." The clatter in the kitchen made her ears perk up. Apparently, the kitchen staff had just arrived.

"Nightshade, the kitchen's just opened up. Let's head on over."

Elesia calmly stood from her seat and began to walk over to the counter, her eyes concentrating on the menu. As she scanned the words in black print, her eyes lit up.

"1 Large Order of Fujiyama curry, please."

The cashier nodded and wrote down the order before sending it back to the kitchen.

"Oh, it's fresh! That's good." She went over to the side, waiting for her curry to be finished.

"Come on, you two. Aren't you all hungry?"

With a ding of a bell, her curry was brought to the counter. Her fingers dug into the edges of her tray as she scurried over back to her chair, her eyes glowing and her mouth watering.

"Curry!" She closed her eyes to take a big whiff. A tense moment passed before her eyes snapped open and she swiped the spoon in her hand. Fiery passion emanating off ever scoop, she mixed the rice and the curry, devouring the hot dish with a look of euphoria on her face.

For a moment, she looked over to the other two.

"Come on, Nightshade, order something!"

Rolling her eyes, she went back to eating her curry. Haunted houses did nothing for her and amusement parks were pointless when one wasn't with their friends but rather with their handlers.

"Lunch time during school, without a doubt, is the best time to socialize. Of course, curry can help bridge cultural divides, something that no other entree can do. Wouldn't you agree?"

With a proud smile, she brought the last bit of curry-rice to her mouth and then the food disappeared into her open smile, the remains making their final journey down into her satisfied stomach.

(Lol, onion?)

"Blasphemy. Curry's history and nuance is much more rich than that of those foods you named. Steak? It's just a slab of meat. You think that killing a cow and then spicing it with a pinches of this and a bit of that makes you a true chef? Sushi is purely a Japanese invention. Unless you live in Hawaii or something like that, you won't find much of an exchange of culture in that respect. Burritos are one of the iconic Mexican dishes and since the food culture of Latin America is exclusively that of adaptability , the dish lacks a true universal application as an ethnic bridge. Pizza may be the most customizable of the dishes you mentioned, but it crosses the thin line between celebrating diversity and supporting uncontrolled chaos.

Curry, on the other hand, is both a sauce and a main dish. You can put it on anything and it will taste better. It has different shades, different hues of flavor and appearance. It is what you make it, but it never tries to run from its true identity as a liquid manifestation of the countries and communities that create it. Within Asia alone, there is Japanese Curry and Indian Curry, which serve as the strong foundations in terms of design. However, there is also Thai curry, which an increasingly popular choice. Furthermore, the influence of western traditions have given rise to curry in new forms. Curry bread, curry omelettes and curry buns are just a few examples."

After her lecture, she exhaled and then inhaled deeply, catching her breath.

"Now do you understand? I mean, if you really want steak in your curry, than go ahead. Anything is possible with the ambrosia of this world."

Standing with her dish in hand, she narrowed her eyes, the dots finally coming together.

"You, sir, have not seen the world. The world of curry is vast. One day, after we graduate..."

She stopped, remembering why she was attending the school in the first place. Without continuing, she smiled to him and nodded before proceeding to the tray drop off area. There, she uneasily lingered, thinking for a moment about what this school year might bring...and what she'd one day have to do.

Nightshade gave up on trying to pick one thing and sat down with 2 stakes one almost raw, one still bleeding but otherwise cooked and a slice of pizza. Took a bite of the pizza before even making it to the table. When she sat down she started on the steaks and tried not to worry about the curry speech she always had trouble telling apart spices.

Elesia

"There are those who store their food knowledge in their gut, and then there are those who keep it in their minds. Furthermore, a chef needs to know when to cook and when to just eat. It also helps if you actually have someone to cook for..."

She smiled sadly, remembering how she'd normally eat her curry alone in her small little room beneath the cathedral after a mission. The dank, cold room with her small bed was a depressing dwelling, but to her, it was home.

"Hey, Nightshade," Elesia said, turning to her new friend who was feasting on the steak, "what kind of food do you like? Is steak your favorite dish or something?"

Elesia looked down at the slabs of meet, a small bit of hidden disgust in her eyes. She wasn't disgusted at Nightshade herself. What she did not approve of was the poor choice of food. Elesia had a special sore spot for steak as a main course. To her, steak was like any other meat: a servant of the mighty entree that was curry. However, for some reason, it was gloried as something profound and satisfying. In reality, it was nothing more than a culinary infant struggling to survive on the battleground of food supremacy.
