| Eh, Koi Kaze stands at #1891. Of course, this is not exactly a low rating, but I could mention various shorts as examples. Some legitimately awful, some just underwatched and underrepresented; MAL makes no difference, which is why it's not reliable in this aspect. Check the filmography of Kihachiro Kawamoto for instance, arguably one of the best independent anime directors and a master of puppet animation. His highest rank in MAL is #3872. |

| I really don't understand people who won't touch anything thats rated below 7. (or worse, I have even seen people who said they only check out stuff thats 8+ ) Sure,the lower rated the show is,the more likely it is to suck,but it still doesn't mean everything in that score range is bad. As someone already said,MAL doesn't make a difference whether something is legit bad or just very under watched and thus a few bad scores bring the average down a lot. And it goes the other way too, Hype and "sequel effect" bring some shows way higher ratings than they deserve. So I think its better to judge a show by synopsis/art/genre rather than a random number. I personally like digging around in the 6.00-6.99 range. Some stuff does suck a lot, but it's always nice to find a pleasant surprise that I end up rating with a 7/8 :) |

If you aren't sure if you're mathematically average, check your gender. Most real people are either 100% male or 100% female. If you aren't, think up some other measures and compare them to averages. | I rarely watch/read reviews and I don't pay much attention to the overall ranking/rating on MAL. If the synopsis sounds interesting and the cover looks at least decent, I'll check it out. I might give the OP a look on YouTube, but that's about it. |

| I generally watch shows rated above 7.00, so generally the selection pool is pretty good. Didn't stopping me from disliking some shows, but perhaps I look too much into things :3 |
