Well with me you have to understand that I"m college student and a head admin of another club.
I purposely made sure that my newsletter for A.G. was sent out and completed before my duty in the MSP.

For me, things need to be more planned.

Btw when you have an overall score change of zero, should it be (0) or (0.00) or (+0.00) or what? I think I've seen all three versions lately lol

I used the former at least

I know we just changed the MSP Score to the Trending List.
But the trending list really doesn't provide much to our members.

There was a complaint that HaXX had before about the numbers not telling the whole story as some shows goes up 0.01 a week as others goes up 0.03 a week. Maybe it is better to have a point system instead of a trending list next season as it would be too hard to implement it now.

+0.01-0.02 would be 1 point
+0.03-0.04 would be 2 point
+0.05+ would be 3 point

Same going backwards
-0.01-0.02 would be -1 point
-0.03-0.04 would be -2 point
-0.05+ would be -3 point

What would be nice about doing the points is that it could be the first list that we can show the really good shows and the really bad shows. I do think we need to incorporate something with shows going down. Doing something like that would be something I wouldn't mind making a 4th list.

But honestly I think it actually makes more sense for this to have it's own thread actually then being on the list. If not then the 10 best going up and the 10 worst going down.

You could just have a fixed number for every series representing the total score change since the very first episode to the latest aired one

Like Chaos Dragon had 6.73 the first week and 6.06 during the last one. So -0.67 in total. Etcetera

So last night another idea popped up in my mind as I look at the trending list and I think one of the biggest reasons I find it funky is that basically the list is showing us what show is going up the longest. Once it goes down one week it falls like 10+ spots and ready to be kicked off the list by something that just went up once that week. So the list has turned into what can last the longest without a hiccup and that really isn't that helpful.

So going back to one of my early points, this might not solve the issue but can benefactor from having my idea of 10 best going up and the 10 worst going down. Then were finally hitting a important side of the currently airing season, the shitty, while giving it more purpose than just what can last the longest.

Yeah I've been thinking about that too; the ones with like +/- 1 or +/-2 etc really aren't that interesting. It's more about the very top and the very bottom rather than specifically the top 20. If we actually showed the entire list of all airing anime this season it'd work fine... but we don't do that. Splitting it up into a top 10 and a bottom 10 would probably result in a more interesting list

Honestly you might even argue the same could be said for the Score Change list but that one still goes up and down all the time in a different way

Well there is also something to be said about not being too linear in our design of our lists.
Like you were saying before that you thought that the scoring change and the MSP score looked too similar at times. By doing that would just re-bring up the problem you had before.

Yeah good point

Another thing worth mentioning is that we don't necessarily need to have identically sized lists, right? Just because one of them has 20 entries doesn't mean the other two also have to be it

Well sure but... I mean I haven't really timed myself but I can't imagine it's anything like that for me at least. Short days are maybe 5-10 mins, longest ones more like 25 tops I'd reckon

What kind of method do you use?

Well in regards to myself, my perfectionist side of me seems to come out when I do the lists so I do take my time. Also so I don't get overwhelmed like I did that other day. But I tend to write down all the numbers I need now before updating so I'm more organized.

So my method would be hand-written beforehand.

This shouldn't take more than 10 mins, 15 tops when updating the wall gets a tad bit complicated. How are you doing it? The thread should be easy, since it's just observe and record. Its also helps to have all links in a bookmark folder so it can be opened with a single click. The wall is the only funny part but unless something drops off and you have to find it's successor does it ever take slightly longer, the advent of the trending list should also considerably reduce the work load. I really don't want this becoming a burden on anyone :(

A few seasons ago I did a draft of a bottom score change list to see if it could be implemented, the major problem was that the list mostly contained unpopular shows, only 1 or 2 'bigger' shows found themselves on the list and mostly towards the bottom, so I didn't bother, you could try again now and show us the results, maybe all the popular shows that season were good or something.

I also talked about the frailties of the trending list earlier but at this point it's a step up from the MSP list, but ideas are always welcome.

My queue order would look roughly like:

1. Open the club page and the data thread on a new browser window, split screen it
2. Open Livechart for the relevant date in question (like today it'd be https://www.livechart.me/schedule/tv?start_date=2015-09-02 for example) and put that on the other half of the screen
3. Compare the "Now Available" numbers on Livechart with the latest updates in the data thread in order to see if any anime has skipped airing this week (the ones I've seen myself I already know of course)
4. Click the "MAL" button for all the anime to be updated on Livechart in alphabetical order in order to open their respective MAL pages, then close Livechart
5. Open the editing window for the thread and drag the textbox out to cover the entire window (so half the screen)
6. Simply go through the new MAL entry tabs one by one and update the thread accordingly (remember, all the tabs are in alphabetical order now)
7. When done, drag the now-updated data thread over to the opposite window, putting it as a new tab beside the MAL entries (keep the entries open on their tabs just as a reminded for what series you have to update in the club banner; Spring leftovers can be closed however)
8. Open the club editing page and drag it out to cover half the screen once more
9. Scroll through the data thread and see what needs updating in the Score Change and Trending lists (just steal a glance on your other tabs to remind yourself what you need to look for); since you opened all the tabs in alphabetical order in the beginning you only need to go downwards consistently
10. When you get to the MAL Score list, you can also look at the lowest rated anime in the current top 20 and instantly close down all remaining tabs that have a score lower than that number; they obviously don't need to be looked at. Then just update the remaining few
11. Write something in the club comments about it

That's the procedure I've always been following at least, think it works pretty smoothly and fast

If you have two monitors (I don't) then this whole process should be even easier I reckon

If it won't be a problem for you, you could try to use MAL's schedule page, the only issue there is that it doesn't display what ep just aired so one might miss the week when a show doesn't air or when a double ep airs. The page does have MAL scores there already so you have all your data on a single page, if you find it more assuring than checking between tabs then go ahead and use it.

You don't need to do that, use this =a&c[]=b&c[]=c&c[]=f&gx=0]link, it displays all the airing shows in a MAL search list for easy access.

Could you also explain no.3 better, cause i haven't been doing that.

No I don't want to do that. The MAL list like that has the titles on the left but the scores on the right, and since I'm doing this on a single monitor in split-screen, I can't see both at the same time. So it's a bit awkward using that list. I'd have to zoom out pretty far in order to make that work and then it just becomes a hassle to read. It's easier to just use tabs for me since all the data is clumped together on the left side on the anime pages

And well if use the date tab for the actual day of update rather than looking at next week's, it'll say "Episode x Now Available" if the episode aired that day. So if you just compare that x number with the data thread and see that the last updated episode is x-1, then you should update it. If it works correctly though, then episodes that didn't air shouldn't even show up on Livechart at all. Like for example here God Eater is missing from the list altogether because it didn't air that day. So in theory you don't need to check the numbers either, but it's more of a double check just in case

Also when you have the anime on tabs you:
1) Constantly have a reminder of what series you're updating since you have can just read the headlines of the tabs without actually having to click them
2) Can easily close off the data you no longer need, so all the still relevant data are a push of a button away, no need for scrolling around the search list or anything

My main issue was the wall being messy, for now let's keep it and see how it looks till at least after Xiairaith's duty or if anyone complains about them getting in the way.
