| These days, you almost have to feel sorry for soda companies. Sales of sugar-sweetened and diet drinks have been falling for a decade in the United States, and a new Gallup Poll says 60% of Americans are trying to avoid drinking soda. In attempts to reverse these trends and deflect concerns about the health effects of sugary drinks, the soda industry invokes elements of the tobacco industry’s classic playbook: cast doubt on the science, discredit critics, invoke nanny statism and attribute obesity to personal irresponsibility. Casting doubt on the science is especially important to soda makers. Overwhelming evidence links habitual consumption of sugary drinks to poor health. So many studies have identified sodas as key contributors to chronic health conditions – most notably obesity, type-2 diabetes and coronary artery disease – that the first thing anyone trying to stay healthy should do is to stop drinking them. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/aug/11/coca-cola-obesity-health-studies i wonder why murican government did not sue coca-cola over this deceptive fake science researches |

| Everything is ok in moderation( you know what I mean, I'm not talking about drugs and such). People like to blame their problems on any drink that isn't using cane sugar and has 1/2 calories and such. I would be willing to bet a lot of these people drink soda with other things as well. I agree soda is bad and that's why I only have a root beer float every so often. |

| As a big fan of Coke I find this thread reprehensible and an obvious smear attack on the greatest drink ever created. Nothing to see here folks, Coke is a great company and I think you guys look a little thirsty, how about a cool, refreshing, thirst-quenching, reinvigorating Coke? Furthermore....Pepsi is the real villain....I mean, it IS sweeter, go after them and leave Coke alone. |

Gatorade was meant for after hardcore exersion, and to maintain performance like during a sporting even, not as a regular beverage. The type of exercise where you are low on salts, and physically need to keep going. In this sense it isn't empty calories like soda always is. If you are trying to control weight you shouldn't drink gatorade. If you drink gatorade or some other drink like it you will gain weight just like If you drink soda, it's not as bad per oz but pretty close. |
