Very surprising yes, and that's what I love about this series...no one is safe...Would easily be on my favourite list if there had been any more room...
Look forward to the ending, it's brilliant XD

Super bump, well kind of. lol

Yoshi was easily one of my favorite characters in this, I thought for sure the show was going to go downhill pretty fast without him but I was pretty surprised how well it turned out. He was definitely one of the more sadistic "Is he good or bad?" kind of characters, but the show did indeed fair off well with him.

Yoshii was definately my favorite because he was unpredictable as a character. In the beginning all you knew is that he had a gun and he knew how to use it along with a nice personality. Though we find out that his personality is volatile and very curious. Question is.... was he a hired gun or someone who just wanted to fool around with the city of Lux?

All things considered he did almost kill one of The Class.... So I dunno. Too many questions.

Yoshii was a great character, no doubt about it. I wonder how this series is going to go from here and I also wonder if Ooishi died or not. All signs say that he did, but I wonder.

The only thing this episode needed is better action animation and less random encounters, how the hell did Ichise evade the bullet and punch the other dude ?

Aw snap, no more Yoshii... There wasn't much plot at the beginning, and then the series was pretty much about Yoshii fucking shit up, and now he's dead. I wonder what direction the series will head?

I think maybe it had something to do with the Texhnolyze unit he have, though that's just my guess. Oonishi did dodge the bullet coming from the back from Kazuho's sniper rifle while riding on a car and they have the same Texhnolyze doctor, so it's a possibility. If not then those two have latent 'Matrix bullet time' skills we don't know yet. LOL

I hope Oonishi not dead yet next episode...

Dat punch. Good shit.

Will be very interesting to see how the story progresses. So many mysteries still left unresolved and so many things still left to explain. Wonder how Ichise'll fit into all of this, what the "above" world is really like, the importance of Raffia, and just how much Ran's creeper mode will go.

I didn't know that :0

I expected this Yoshii-guy to stay in until the very last episode. I guess that the story is gonna take an even more twisted and interesting direction from now on. At the very least, Ichise finally talked. One single word, but he sounded cooler than I expected.

But from Yoshii's words I think I got idea of how the plot is gonna go from now on. Shinji has the possibility to become the leader of the ones who'll awake, but he'll probably fail somewhere on his path(let's say because he refuses to sacrifice the people around him to fulfill his goal), and then Ichise is gonna turn out as the real leader. I'm just not sure what part is gonna Onishi take in this plot. I'm not even sure if he's alive or why he even saved that Celestial guy =\

Awww! My favorite character died :P
I'm really hoping that by the end of the show I understand everything. :)

Yoshii talking about people that are awake and saying he is doing what Onishi was trying to do just adds to the mystery of who was or what was Kazuho. What his real goal was. :o

Called Yoshii dying when the episodes name was Conclusion. Figured that was the only thing they could really conclude, and not to long ago I was thinking that they couldn't possibly continue with the Kazuho fucking shit up angle. That said, I was really hoping I was wrong all throughout the episode since Yoshii was by far my favorite part of the show. So I'm upset on that front that they just killed off the most interesting part of the show for me.

The episode itself was excellent as usual. No real complaints. Interested in what direction the series will take now.

I'm hoping that Kazuho's death might lead to a better explanation of who he was and where he is from in the grander scheme of things.

I honestly was not expecting to Kazuho to die so soon.
I'm also thinking Onishi should be okay for the time being.

This show keeps on surprising me. Just great stuff. I never expected kazuho to die like he did. He's definitely set things in motion that cannot be undone, but will now no longer create trouble for others.

I wonder what the deal is with the Class and their relationship to the Raffia and Organo.

Wow didn't expect Yoshii to die so early on . . . However I actually like the prospect of him dying earlier rather than later, since it didn't feel random or rushed, that just means that the plot will be able to move on even further, rather than be stuck in a wild goose chase for another 10 episodes.

Kinda sad at Ren's last line. The condition didn't really change afterall, people still live in despair as always.
Kazuho got carried away with his mission and ultimately died deservedly.

I liked that the fights in this episode were quick and to the point which made them realistic. The feel of this episode reminded me of the 5th episode of Cowboy Bebop with Spike and Vicious in that church.

Surprisingly, my opinion is obverse of yours. Yoshii is your perfect example of a two-dimensional antagonist, especially with that end, which just goes to finally prove my suspicions from the start. His experiences out of Lux served only as a backdrop of his psychopathic personality, (psychopaths are not necessarily mad in appearances, many psychopathic evildoers are actually portrayed through their actions and not by mannerisms) and his modus operandi is blatantly clear, which was to see a 'spectacle'. Additionally, I feel that Oonishi will not die yet. His role is still incomplete - the role of protecting Lux.

ownosourus said:

Had you look carefully, there was never an explanation to begin with. Yoshii's motives are simple - to re-enact or in a sense, to turn Lux into what the outside world is - dead and stale. (Lux sustained due to its monopoly of the Raffia, which was hinted in episode 4 or 5 and also this episode.)

Texhnolyze did an unnecessary step to his character, making all the effort go to waste as being pretentious. Nevertheless, the anime is far from being the pretentious Yoshii was. The reason why I was still able to enjoy this anime so much even with an unnecessary antagonist was the "role-shift" technique used in Texhnolyze. The "role-shift" as in there is no true protagonist in this anime at all - the three apparent protagonists are independent beings with independent goals acting to only serve a common end (ironically, and unknowingly for them), with Ran serving as a mediator, or to be precise, an overseer to the chain of events. It is as if everything is premeditated, yet there is an anomaly - the anomaly of Ichise's existence which twists Ran's perception. The natural balance between the characterising of all three characters acts as a trump card for this anime, evoking a highly unusual feeling upon viewers, which can be treated as boring or interesting, depending on viewers' perception.

According to the episodes thus far, I believe that the 'Class' serves as an indirect form of government which oversights the entire of Lux, a 'city' with natural 'Raffia' resources which provides sustenance to the people in Lux. It is strongly hinted over the course that the world, in a way, has undergone a massive change either due to war or a natural disaster; that 'Raffia' is the only object left to ensure the survival of humanity. The 'raffia' is also known as the ingredient for Texhnolyzation. Organo is the main 'mafia-esque' corporate which serves as an indirect form of 'paramilitary' under the iron fists of the 'Class' to eliminate threats to the society of Lux.

Nevertheless, this is pure speculation. Correct me if I am wrong! :D

Yeah, Yoshii is straight up my favorite character in any anime ever. Usually the characters I like are not the protagonists.

I thought he wanted to start a spectacle to see more "primitive human energy" since people on the surface seem to live in a utopia or a false one of sorts and live dull,emotionless,meaningless/nihilistic lives.
