How about an anime about 40yr old has-been MC?

Here`s a basic premise. The show centers on middle-aged former hero. He would like to think “He still got it,” but obviously he can`t keep up with younger and better heroes who have better strategies and more scientifically advanced training methods. Not only that, even monsters are stronger than when the MC was at his prime.

He has struggled to adjust to his post-retirement life. He sold his movie-rights and made some money but that quickly ran out due to his alcoholism which eventually turned into heroin addiction. He was able get some work at construction site due to his above-average-strength but he kept getting fired due to PTSD he developed from fighting monsters and his addiction problem.

He finally decided to get some professional help for both of these problems but he is nearly broke. He decided to apply for a behind-the-desk-type job at the Hero Headquarter to not only make enough money to cover the rent and medical expenses but also so that he can still feel part of something that fights crimes. But he has some criminal record from his addiction days so it will not be easy.

The story is about his pathetic attempt to get his life back together.

Otaku don't want to see themselves in an anime.

They want to see themselves as 18 year old bishounen living a sexy school life and getting all the bitches.

But Birdman is actually successful isn`t he? He has a successful law firm I believe. At least he is fairing better than this MC

I'm joking. I haven't seen Birdman yet, I've only read the synopsis and your premise reminded be a bit of it.

Anyway I dunno, this would perhaps be a decent seinen anime if done right. Tiger & Bunny is probably the only anime that comes close to it with the ageing hero past his prime thing.

You would think the government would take care of the former-hero. Kind of like war-veterans . But you guys know how corrupt the politicians are. Plus taxes are drained by restoration efforts to fix the damages caused by monsters and even heroes.

With anime, the only thing I can come up with MC closest to 40 is Dr.Tenma from Monster. I suppose he is in mid 30s after some initial time skip?

Nakoshi from Homunculus was 35, iirc. He was very successful in his past, but ended up homeless, and - later, *spoilers*

On the premise: I don't know. It sounds like a regular police, boxing, fighting melodrama. Is this character a misfit, or just a loser, or fell because he was too ambitious ... tell more. What is he going to do back in the Hero desk, does he slob on his job because of his addiction or he struggles with it instead, does it affect his work, or does the work place hinder his rehab? Yeah, tell more of what you're seeing.

I was actually thinking like superman-type hero. An actual monster-battling-hero. Kinda like One PunchMan-type-world. The government should pay for his pension and benefits. Like cover some of his medical expenses but with all the damages that monsters and hero themselves cause while protecting the world, they have no money.

He was a former-hero who became kind of loser due to addiction and PTSD, though PTSD was not his fault. . As for how he plans to get that cushy desk job, I don`t know. I haven`t thought about it. I was hoping maybe you guys can pitch in ideas.

So, he wants to do what he think his is best at, and the plot is to describe how he is willing to do whatever at the Hero Organization, but to restore some of his dignity as a fighter and a human being ...?

Basically, all the ideas I have so far are on my very first post. Beyond that, I haven`t thought it through. It`s just the premise after all. Nothing more.

The plot is about how he is going to go about getting that cushy job. It`s all in the first post. Anything beyond that, I have not thought about it.

She was crying in his room and they were about to do something, when those guys made the photograph. I now it was set up, but he wasn't resisting whatsoever.

I don`t think that counts. He was set up. They took pictures as she was leaning over. Besides, he did resist urges later on when another underage girl came on to him strong.

Anyway to get back to the original point, Onizuka is no way near 40s and he was not exactly hero in previous life. At least not the way I am thinking of.

Wasn`t he a member of the gang before he became a teacher? I`m sure he was a hero to some of his close friends and I`m sure he did some good deed back then but from the perspective of the average joe…..not sure if you can call him hero.
