A classic set up episode which principale caracteristic is : make most of the kikoos watching while fapping and those who are just completely stupid go wild.("Ouiiinnnnnnnn i don't have any action"," f*cked episode where is kirito kicking ass","I don't want side characters just show me some action",...). This thread shows it quite well ^^.

Concerning the episode, well quite disapointed that shinkawa is turning toward the "jerk way" , wanted him and sion to be together.(HOW do i know he is going to end a jerk? After having read/watch more than 300 different mangas/animes, you starting to anticipate things rather quickly and accurately since the pattern is always the same).

Liked seeing old characters and showing asuna being over worried about kirito. And that the other girls respect that Asuna is Kirito only love interest( won't hide that i'm rather worried with sion gradually falling in love with kirito).

Not that much material in this episode but liked it. Still giving 5/5. For thos who don't understand how can i give 5/5(i give it every time as long as there is not a matter that REALLY piss off me. Example : Kimi no iru machi(finding out that Yuzui new boyfriend was Haruto new friend. well it's was for the manga but that's the idea.)

PS : For those who have read it completely, I'm sorry about my english which is as you can see not really good.

How was Shinkawa "turning into a jerk"? Or did you mean he's going to to turn into one, yeah I can see that happening it's a pretty common thing to see the rejected guy over react the shit over a rejection

And based off the way he acts and a lot of characters that are similar to him, I'm going to guess that he is going to have some sort of connection to death gun or at least turn to his side or something.

Of course nothing good will come of it.

Hopefully if he gets into a fight with Kirito it'll be more entertaining than Kirito's usual "I win" scheme

While I appreciate the slower pacing GGO has it also makes me feel impatient for it to get into the good parts

Though I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing since it's kind of a tell that I'm actually interested in what's coming next

VERY good episode. Its good to see that they keep retaining the bits about Kirito's character and how his cheerful "smiley" attitude is just a front for boatload of ptsd, traumas, depression, etc.

Considering the dude is equal to a vietnam war veteran with sever ptsd and keeps replaying flashbacks in his head, even when driving, I'd would not be surprised.

Spiegel is only vaguely aware of the colossal and panty-drenching attraction that Sinon has for Kirito. When he gets rejected he's going over to the dark side so badly. Question is if he'll be final boss?

It's very weird to see Kirito feeling bad about his kills. He never had a moments doubt in SAO as far as I can remember. Maybe I have bad memory?

A slow and rather boring episode. I get they're trying to build up to the finals, but this pace is just too slow. It felt like nothing happened this episode.

I guess the confessions would be interesting if the character was likeable, but right now he's just screaming "I'm a bad guy!", or something very close to that. Kirito also just confessed about killing three people - but that's okay, it's not like there are laws in Japan!

5/10 for the series so far. Still waiting for it to get good, but it's mostly just really dull with some entertaining scenes far in between. The next arc had better be as hype as everyone claims.

I'm also wondering, where are Kirito and Sugu's parents? We like, never see them or anything. Which is a bit strange considering the amount of time spent in their house during Alfheim. It also seem strange that the first person Kirito would turn to in his period of trauma would be a random nurse.

As usual, left out in the anime, but Kirito's dad works abroad and his mom travels long distances for work and spends considerable time doing....whatever, so it's mostly just Suguha and Kirito living in that house.
The mom only appears really rarely, and the dad like, once, in the Web Novel, and not even yet in the LN.

The nurse isn't random, she was the one who helped him with his rehabilitation, so they were already pretty close.

Kirito's parents died when he was 2 or 3, he has been raised by Sugu's parents, his aunt and uncle. I know that the aunt has a pretty intensive job as a leading computer programmer (this is where Kirito both got into computers had why he had access at such an early age to a full dive machine), not sure what the uncle does (or if he is even still around).

But Kirito probably would not have confided in his step mom anyway. He has felt a bit distant from them when he found out that he wasn't actually their child.

I believe he was referring to the aunt and uncle anyway, but called them his parents because, well, they are.

This episode progress really slow and were super boring,
they really should add some male lead chars to the anime/manga
its hard to believe that so many girls play online games anyway
it also getting really annoying the way that any new or old girl on the show want
to get some with kirito.

i thought the little love story bettwen kirito and is sister were end guess i were worng.

and the scene with the nurse, any other girl want to get some???

i miss the good old sword art online days were asuna were showing as a main
char and not in some scenes just to pass the episode time such as today.
i actully liked her personality on SAO more then the others no brain girls .
except sinon that were ok so far.

Indeed I was talking about Sugu and Kirito's "parents" knowing that they weren't Kirito biological parents. Didn't know that his actual parents died either, since that was never mentionned.

I don't see how Klein doesn't get any; I mean he spends a lot of time with the harem.
But then again, it's Kirito's harem.

Just stop it, Shinkawa; Sinon will keep rejecting you.
You are not meant for Sinon!

Ah, the hot nurse and her counseling surely helped Kirito with his problem.
I also like how the balloon is both in Sinon's and Kirito's scenes.

A bit slow episode, but I'm sure it'll pick up the pace with all the action since the tournament is starting! (^_^)

We caught a glimpse of her telling Suguha how Kirito learned he was adopted, but never the reason why specifically. I imagined they were dead, but she was telling her story with such a joking tone, I had doubts. :/

Nothing really 'spectacular' happened in this episode, but character interactions with dialogue to improve room for development are always welcomed.

a few episodes back, i praised SAO for having balance in "Show" and "Tell".
but this episode destroyed that balance.

not horrible episode, not useless episode. But it is boring episode.

usually i watch (anything, not just anime) in 1.2x-1.5x speed*. But for SAO i usually watch it normally 1x speed. and i regret that decission. I should have watched this episode at 1.5x speed.

*VLC and Youtube have speed adjusment that did not damage the voice/sound.

Lol'd at how much this episode is disliked just because there wasn't any action, but then, I also fell asleep in a chair while watching it, so i shouldn't be saying anything... I guess, that's what you get when you take out the only working element in this anime... This ep would only get 5/5 from people who think SAO is masterpiece or that adding the nurse to Kirito's harem is a character development.

I'm not going to discuss the depth and complexity of the series, but some scenes, like the one with Suguha and the ALO part, felt like useless filler.

Awfully slow episode this time around. I'm kinda glad it happened though. We needed the change of pace as well as the connection to the "Outside world", since we haven't really seen it since episode 1. Kirito is still suffering from guilt and all that jazz, I was quite surprised what with all the crazy stuff going on in his mind that he didn't actually crash his bike in the real world.

Sucks to be Spiegel. The only real friend that she has in real life, and he loses out to the godly Beater "Sword" of Kirito :P
Not that it wasn't expected of course. The dude is way too forward with his advances. If Shino actually had more friends in real life than him, I would bet a million bucks that she would have reacted with disgust when he went in for the hug. Oh well, he's gonna lose out anyway, but the characterization of him leaves a lot to be desired. He comes off obsessive and stalkerish, even in this episode. I wonder just how much worse he'll get once he finds out that Sinon has been stolen away by Kirito's Lightsaber.

It was good to see Sugu, Asuna and the rest of the gang again, though I would have wanted a little more interaction still. Sugu threatening to break down Kirito's door was hilarious. I think personally Klein has a worse role than Spiegel, he's pretty much the nanny to Kirito's harem when he's away. Now if that role ain't the most depressing, I don't know which role would be.

Can't wait for the action to drop next episode!

Oh and yeah, I'd take Nurse Aki to the Harem any day!

Kirito's little harem world where he only has to interact with cute girls that have thing for him sure gets annoying fast~... (It was already incredible stupid in Sword Art Online where it completely contradicted a point that was made in the first episode).

If Sinon also falls for him for no reason while the other guy gets turned into a "overly possesive creep" to "make it okay" I will probably just stop the episode right there, turn it off and try to wipe the anime from my mind entirely.

I had really, really hoped Asuna gets to see the little scene at the end of their battle where Kirito pulls Sinon creepily close for someone who has a girlfriend he wants to marry and basically "a child". But Kirito never has to deal with conflicts like that. And it's totally okay for Sinon to lose her mind over Kirito and getting pulled close by him, standing there with eyes wide open... but if "the only person who really understands her" wants to hug her, she is not ready for that... >_>

The pacing was again all over the place but this time really slow... and with the "trauma" part played to death. Yes, we know now that he feels bad about it, jeez... it's like a few episodes back when they needed to point out that "Kirito is special" over and over again. People actually have a brain, the point of a visual medium is that you can figure stuff out by looking at it, not by repeating something over and over again while also shoving it into your face with obvious, extra dialog (maybe some signs pointing to Kirito with "I'm sad now!" written on them would help if you are really going for that).

Edit.:

Isn't kind of funny btw. that alot of commenters here feel that Sinon's friend seemed a bit "creepy and crazy" because it was presented that way while last episode when Kirito did about exactly the same, pulling her close for no reason at the end of their fight people reacted like it was the "cutest thing ever"?

Yeah, all Kirito's harem is in ALO and I really -just like you- gets annoyed when I saw them xD ALO is really so vivid compared to GGO, It's like watching two different anime, watching Kitito's hot and cute harem killing cute monsters using cute skills, while in the other hand, Kirito's suffering from trauma, there's a psycho who's after him and he entered a tournament for pro gunmen. I see that so amusing.

Shinkawa wants to take the advantage of being Sinon only friend, He's so stubborn even though she pushed him when he surprisingly hugged her, and she did the same when he tried to hold his hand, He's like "I'll make you mine no matter what happen". I hate these kind of people, but Kitiro won't let him touch his harem.

This is one of many episodes that are to come with a little piece of action, just talking to give story a meaning that are probably necessary. we can't expect fights in each episode, but in the next episode, oh baby they are coming hard (i think xD).
