So this gets an anime before AssClass and Shokugeki? Interesting, I should get started on the manga soon.

This comes as very shocking. The tank sales are mediocre and the weekly rankings are nothing amazing. Are they expecting World Trigger to pull a KuroBasu?

Well, whatever. I didn't like the manga and dropped it but I might pick up the anime if its decent.

But I wish Soul Catcher(S) had gotten an anime instead...

Seriously? Before AC and Souma? It's barely has 6 volumes, so much fillers will be included, my guess that is studio Pierrot or Toei, they are always making long Jump's stuff and obviously ruining everything and making it look for children.

This is way to early, also WT is selling a lot less than AC and Souma so I don't get the logic behind it...

I read a couple of chapters of this in the beginning and to me it really felt mediocre at the very best, so I dropped it. If I feel like it I'll read on before the anime or just wait and check the anime to see if it changes my mind on the story.

About why WT got picked up before AssClass and Souma I think it makes sense in some ways, so I'll try to voice my opinion on it. WSJ gets a lot more offers for anime adaptations than the ones that we see being made. By now I'm guessing they have already gotten a couple for AssClass and Souma but declined since the mangas are popular enough to give them the luxury of waiting for that ideal offer/project. Anime boosts sales, that's obvious. It does so even if the anime is a bad adaptation, though if it's good it gives a bigger boost. For WT I think they just took the first decent offer to try to boost its popularity, they probably assumed that it won't rise too much on its own so this'll be the best project they'll get for it, a take-it or leave-it kind of thing. If WT kept up like this, eventually (considering tank sales and mediocre rankings) it would be cancelled in 1-2 years, so they just made their bets on an anime. I may be completely wrong here, obviously, but if I were to make a guess I'd say that this won't be made by a big studio or at least it probably doesn't have a big budget and it's even likely that they'll make it a simple 1-cour series to test the waters and follow up with sequels if it's popular. Those are my 2 cents on it at least.

Wow, this is a suprise. Not only because it is just your average WSJ series till now, but also because it was always on the verge of being cancelled and never sold that well.

AssClass got an OVA on the Jump tour already, which in the past always was a semi-confirmation for an anime project. It's time will come.
Same for Souma, as other have said they can take their time and make sure the adaption becomes a huge hit for these two.

Hey! It has been a while.

I do agree with most of what you said which is why I never really expected that it would ever get an anime. I just hope that it is a good adaptation and that the series becomes popular enough to not get cancelled anytime soon (next few years). I can dream.

I was hoping this would happen eventually. I started reading the manga about a year ago, while it was still new. I still reckon it's a bit too soon, though. I wonder if it'll be seasonal or long-running? Maybe seasonal.

I don't think Pierrot is bad, then again I've only watched four series done by them (Naruto, Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho and Kingdom (Kingdom's CGI is pretty bad, but apparently it gets better).

EDIT: Oh, and Beelzebub, forgot that.

Pierrot is brilliant if given the proper budget (they seem to splash them on fillers and OP/ED sequences, though). However, given the popularity of World Trigger, it's unlikely that it would be given that big a budget.

I heard of this manga but I thought it didn't have enough materiel for an anime yet. Wonder if this will be a long-runner or a short series. Probably short since it isn't very popular.

Guess they wanna bump manga-series popularity this way. But it is dead case, it'd be better if they just closed it.
But wow... this is basically the first time when I want to drop the series without actually seeing it and give it appalling rating.

Err . . isn't it a tad bit early? The manga has been running for merely a year and it even barely survived during its first few months. The sales so far has been mediocre and the receptions (both in Japan and west) are just lukewarm. Amongst any other Jump series, WT definitely the least expected one *looks at AssClass and Souma*

Ohyeah! I was actually wondering why the series wasn't that popular considering it is on jump and it's not a bad series in my opinion. I think I'm happy with it receiving an adaptation before Assassination Classroom but I guess adapting Shokugeki no Souma first is better.

I.G PLEASE. I hope it's production I.G. I think I.G is the best choice considering this is an action packed series.... Bones will work too actually. I also hope it's 2 cour.

Good stuff, I hope it's 26 ep atleast so they cover the current arc too.

It's getting an anime first to see if they can boost sales significantly, assclass and souma already sell great so no need to rush for an anime.

They could easily make one of the other two into long runners. Shokugeki no Souma and AssClass are both way more popular and way more successful than WT. AssClass especially, since broke into the 1 million barrier with it's first volume (without an anime nonetheless) and beat OP in the rankings as well. WT, on the other hand, has mediocre sales and it's ranking would be decent at best. This is probably a do or die by Shueisha to try and boost it's popularity a bit.

That being said, I could really see Pierrot handling this brilliantly with a one/two cour season. Any more than that and we'll have a Beelzebub repeat.

I hope it's like an OVA or something, we don't need a World Trigger Anime yet (at all, really). I mean, it's not popular but it's not as if it has a chance of being cancelled just yet, this really isn't a do or die situation for this series. It looks like they're trying to solidify a 10-15 series block in Jump so they don't have to go out on a limb for prospective garbage.

I feel like I just read through 30 or so posts of "it's way too early, shoulda been Souma or AssClass."

`-` Yep Souma should get an anime way before World Trigger but since WT got serialised on the american Shounen Jump i guess that was a boost..and AssClass in my opinion isn't worth for an anime.

Already? This is a huge surprise. I've had the manga on my plan to read list. But I've never gotten around to it. I've seen mixed opinions on the series though.

The reason why World Trigger got an anime before Assassination Classroom or Shokugeki no Soma (both of these series will definitely get an adaptation in the future) is probably so it can have a chance to increase in popularity, and Weekly Shonen Jump looks like they really want to push it to become popular. Assclass and Souma don't really need an anime right now because the already sell really well. So there should be no rush.

What does that even mean? Also, just for the record, AssClass is currently the second/third most successful series in JUMP (and this is without any anime boost). It's the one that deserves an anime the most out of the three.
