| I can just tell straight off of the first episode, this anime is going to be relaxing and packed full of feels. I also see some foreshadowing of unfortunate events for the main character at the end of his journey. |

| Had this anime in my list for the longest time and I only just got around to watching it. The kitty-sensei is so cute and fat~ xD The first episode wasn't bad. It didn't exactly "wow" me but it was good enough for me to want to watch the 2nd episode. So far the show is giving a very Studio Ghibli-esque feel to it... except with more sense and more straightforward plot. I hope it gets better! Its the ratings people are giving this anime that really compelled me to watch it. |

| The story seems rather simple, but the characters are quite interesting. The ending was somewhat moving. I wouldn't be surprised if the so called "bad" youkai are going to be revealed to be not all that bad, similar to the ending. Natsume seems to be a rather calm individual, even when he is attacked by the youkai. It also seems like he might have some kind of spiritual power inherited from his grandmother, since it seems to grant him the strength to somewhat hurt Madara in his true form, unless Madara wasn't being serious in hurting Natsume. |

| love the calm atmosphere. Hope it will continue like that. Dunno why people think animes with youkai in them MUST have LOADS of actions. Honestly!! Why can't they just relax and enjoy the slice of life calmness? |

| It's interesting how people call this episode "relaxing" when there are two chase scenes, several situations where Natsume is pinned down or cornered by creatures that could kill him, a brief fight sequence between two spirits, and elements of horror and tension throughout. That's not to say that there weren't any slow, easygoing moments in this episode, but judging from what I've seen here, this show seems to lack the charm and atmosphere of anime I would consider truly relaxing or heartwarming. Hopefully this will change in the upcoming episodes. |

| Is it weird that I already want them to make another series revolving around Reiko and her adventures, after only seeing her for like 30 seconds lol? She seems like a pretty interesting character to me. But yeah, I really enjoyed this first episode. It had a very relaxing and calm atomosphere to it, plus the whole concept really interests me. |

| You know what, this was really sweet. Gentle humor, some fine action - Nyanko-sensei vs that youkai - and then some feels. I really didn't expect Hishigaki to turn out like this, I genuinely felt sorry for the creature. Also, Reiko kicks ass and Natsume seems like an interesting main char. Looking forward to this. |
| Given the announcement released yesterday on a fifth season for this brand, it seemed only right to revise the whole saga. Despite having commented before, this is one of those anime series that deserve to be commented on several times, because every time you see it, is able to convey the enormous feelings. Although no longer so young this series, however, the drawings and set designs, have something magical, the same goes for the soundtrack, really magnificent. I was moved and I cried like happened to me the first time I saw him, I love this anime! <3 |

| Ahhh,that was so relaxing and peaceful just like Mushishi,definitely going to enjoy this series. In no rush to get through all the seasons before season 5,gotta take this slowly one episode at a time. |

| I kinda expected a better start for this series, with Madara's introduction being quite bland, as well as the youkai chasing scenes. The later part of the episode did it better (why isn't the grandmother a living character?) and the superb ending song. Going through all the seasons will take a while, hopefully going in a good direction. |

| What an interesting premise. Looking forward to this series! Reiko's character was pretty cool, and I like Takashi too. I can feel an unbothered attitude running in their blood. Nyanko-sensei/Madara was right in that he has a pretty cool true form too. I felt bad for Hishigaki at the end, but it looks like she got closure and peace. I feel like this series will have a lot of emotion involved as well. |

| That was a really good starting both op and ed are great but I like the ed better, not to forget Natsume and Madara's seiyuu are epic. |

| I don't really understand the character dynamics at work in this first episode... Apart from Reiko who "enslaved" youkais to relieve her loneliness and maybe get back at them for alienating her. If Madara wants the book, why not just take it from this puny human ? Why would he wait until Natsume passes away ? Why help Natsume release the names in the book, as it will only lower the value of the book ? If the book is a memento of his grandmother, why would Natsume resolve to destroy it little by little ? And it's really not helping that Natsume's resolution came out of the blue in like 30 seconds... The setup for the premise feels really jumbled. It was still an enjoyable episode but I expected a tighter start from such an acclaimed series and am left quite underwhelmed. |

| I think I'll enjoy this anime ! I absolutely loved Mushishi and I was so sad when I finished it, so discovering another lookalike anime like this one is like getting a bowl of fresh air, that's a really nice surprise |

| wow god damn, really beautiful first episode. Love the plot and idea behind "The book of friends" and really interested to see where this goes. So to cut things straight, the premise of "the book of friends" that his grandma made, was after winning a 1 on 1 with the Youkai, they basically sign a contract where she can summon/control them when ever she wants? And this mc wants to free all the Youkai of their contracts? Hmmmm ok. Hot damn was it great to hear Kamiya Hiroshi's voice again. Can't forget his voice after my pilgrimage of the Monogatari series and the many Araragi monologues that were in it. Seriously though, love the guy. |

| I think I will gonna like this, Natsume’s adventures in returning those names. That was pretty interesting. But I hope there will be more story and some action in the next episodes. This episode is just fine, well it’s just a start so it’s ok. |
