THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Good episode, I liked how natural it was with a mushi being involved of course. The girl involved in the episode had this sense of despair where she's sick of even being herself. At any rate, I thought the mood captured the moments flawlessly.

The ending touches of the episode were kinda funny. Still a good episode ofc.

Gonna watch it now. Keeping this post reserved so I can be proud having the second post on this topic.

Edit:

I just finished it. I liked this episode just a bit more then the others so far. It got going pretty fast and I could relate to it. The mushi in this episode was also something I've always kinda dreamt off, something that follows me around. The character affected by the mushi in this episode looked like a normal side character, but the comedic ending part made me like her just a bit more then most other side-characters. The episode also showed how nice Ginko really is to both mushi and people. Overall this episode was just another serene and calming mushishi episode which I can't get enough off. 5/5

This was an amazing episode.
It really shows how much we should value our lives and that there are always situations darker than ours.
Masumi is back to normal, especially after complementing Ginko like that.
Ginko is a really caring person though, he understands how the mushi feel better than anyone else.

Nice stuff. Esp loved the ending of the ep.

Lol'd so much at Ginko XD He was like "Oh shit, the bitch has her eyes on me? I need to make a tactical retreat" Hahaha

Well that really was a fast recovery by her :P

The ending when he told the Mizukagami to follow him to a better lake but he wasn't going to give it a body was nice ^^

I just wonder.. how would it benefit to the mushi to go to a lake that lies deeper in the mountain? more animals?

Loved the art and the music. At first I thought this was going to be the first OK episode of the season, but the episode got better every minute. I Really liked how the subject of failed relationship, and the consequent self-pity and loss of self worth, was handled. The show handled the subject matter much better than the mind-numbingly painful 5 cm per second.

Especially loved the last couple of scenes, starting from the penultimate where Ginko explains why her life was worth saving, and how much better her life is compared to what it could be. Nice touch at the end :)

Perhaps there are other mushi's deep in the mountain, so the mushi will feel less lonely. And its safer for the people living near the mountain too.

This was such an awesome episode. This is just an awesome series. I feel like it deserves more love.
I was expecting a sad ending like in the first Mushishi. That part where she almost turned was dramatic and heart pounding as f@ck. Ginko you boss, attracting women and mushi wherever he goes.

+1. Though it's a bit sad that Ginko cannot involve himself into a romance, because he attracts mushi if he stays in a one place for a long time. Mushishi Zoku shou seems to be the best anime 2014. I'm grateful to my friend who recommended Mushishi to me :) anyway great episode like always.

Wow poor Masumi when the man told her that he didn't want a tomboy like her as his wife ._. Harsh. Well I'm glad in the end that she wanted to live. It was quite clever how she didn't need the mirror. I was thinking, oh crap, how's she going to get out of this without a mirror? But then I understood once she looked straight at the mizukagami.

I also liked the humor at the end ^^

As usual these episodes always end too fast :(

This episode had a slower pace than the previous ones but I feel that it was much creepier as compensation.

It was pretty scary seeing the Mizukagami drawing closer and closer to Masumi near the end of the episode. I loved that part, I'm always for some suspense.

Aww, I feel so bad that Masumi got rejected by that mirror guy ...is what I'd like to say before I saw that ending xD

Mushi Trivia

Mizukagami.. What a terrible mushi! :O
Though, I think her significant other was even more terrible to indirectly reject her..

Well, she didn't even need a mirror to recover. :)

Ginko was hilarious towards the end; leaving as quick as he could once she laid her eyes on him. XD
Nice seeing how considerate Ginko is towards the mushi; leading it to a better lake instead of giving his body. :)

Nice episode. Nice OST as always.

Yeah I love how he helped the Mushi as well. And I also love how he told the Mushi he's not handing his body over to it ^^

And I agree with the girl falling in love with him, I mean who wouldn't love Ginko? Personally, I want to see Ginko meet that girl from season 1 again. I believe her name was Tanyuu Karibusa (episode 20), the girl with the skin covered in ink.

On another note, I loved one particular segment of this episode that I just HAD to upload it to youtube ^^

Very interesting comparison between the mushi and the girl, when the girl said she didn't simply want to be a being chasing someone else, which was exactly what she was doing at the time. That alone made her realize she wanted to move on, or at least live in a more lively way.

Also, girl's moved on to better men. :) Ginko is indeed good-looking.

Loved the parallel of her realizing she would become 'something that only follows people' with the way she had been behaving before and after the guy left.

Ginko would rather be followed by the soul devouring mushi than that bitch, he got the fuck outta there.

No as Ginko already explained earlier in the episode.

Ginko : The Mizukagami requires minerals in the water(lake) to live. Once it gained a physical form, it will wander around in search of water with a higher mineral content. In its true form, the Mizukagami cannot move on its own volition. That is why it desires a body that is free to go wherever it pleases.

I have a feeling we'll see them together soon and Ginko will help her with that fragment of hinami's core that we see in Mushishi Special: Hihamukage.

A much calmer and simple episode in contrast to last week's. I like how it delved into the nature of the mushi a bit more with Ginko's speech about them possibly having no souls but trying to crawl out of darkness regardless. It also makes me appreciate just how fortunate we as humans are, to be able to do so much in comparison to floral and fauna.

Got a good laugh out of Masumi trying to hit on Ginko and chasing him away. I really like the lighthearted breaks of comedy relief.

Ginko's compassion for the mushi really is something else. It reminds me of when he takes that mushi away in S1 that was possessing the children and the whole "Why haven't you killed me?" "Because you're still alive."

My mind went immediately to Cotton Changeling too. Helps that that episode was easily one of my favorites.

As for this one, I really liked it, Koreye kinda already said most of what I wanted to point out but I'll just throw out that in my opinion, this episode had probably the best usage of sound this seasons sans maybe the third episode (which is still my favorite of the season).

Oh, and the ending with Masumi hitting on Ginko was hilarious.

Wow, that was a really strong episode. Great art, use of soundtrack, etc.
Masumi being so straightforward to Ginko was funny and a great tension breaker with everything that happened.

Man, when Ginko described the kind of lonely world the Mushi lives in you could really tell he could understand them almost at the same level. After all, he travels alone, with only mushi around him most of the time.

The end scene is what did it for me though, when he showed so much care for the mushi, allowing it to follow him so he could bring it to a better location to live in. Ginko was just so empathetic towards the mushi and it seemed like he was just trying to comfort it letting it know that it wasn't alone with that last line, "Don't look so lonely", he's definitely not a Mushi-shi just for his vast knowledge of them.
Touch me, you filthy casual~
