| Samurai Executioner is better than Lone Wolf and Cub in every way possible, except for the climax. Punpun, Solanin and Nijigahara Holograph are the only manga from Asano Inio that I would really call exceptional. Only Yesterday is Isao Takahata's best film, not Grave of the Fireflies. Patlabor 2 is Mamoru Oshii's best film, not Ghost in the Shell. Citizen Kane is not that great of a film, it hasn't really aged well at all. Breaking Bad is not better than every anime, nor is it 'the best tv show ever'. LOGH may be in my favourites but it has a lot of flaws that most fans seem to ignore such as its one-sided portrayal of religion. The Wings of Honneamise is easily the best work from Gainax. I don't understand why people see Whisper of the Heart as just a cheesy romance when it's clearly a coming of age story. Kaiba has a pretty underwhelming ending with its sudden and awkward transition from focusing on the atmosphere and world building to its really weak characters. |
