Well I can honestly say I did not see that one coming. The funny thing was at first, despite being interested, I wasn't sure this was a good idea, but now that I have had time to think about it, yeah, I don't think this was a good idea. I am painfully reminded of the twist in Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (You know... THAT twist).

Wait what? The OP has him in a real superhero suit battling a giant robot that shoots lasers! Granted, that's technically not "supernatural" but it certainly hints at something more towards the fantasy realm of super heroes. Besides, I still think the subtle hints are there. Once the whole grandfather thing came into play I really started to feel like something big was coming. I actually thought that the samumenco logo on the grave was some kind of button that would open up into a secret lair with high tech crime fighting gear. Hell, that may still happen.

Yeah, but the the opening shows it was just a dream Hazama was having. That isn't foreshadowing my friend.

The fact that it was a dream in the OP doesn't mean the show isn't putting those images in your head. Now, if the show itself established that Hazama was a daydreamer who often imagined himself in legit superhero scenarios (similar to what happened in C3-Bu) then I'd agree with you, but it hasn't at all. The only time we saw it happen was in this episode but he was reading a Samumenco story his grandfather wrote and picturing it happening. That's not a thematic element. Once I saw that the show wasn't going that way (where a mugger suddenly became a giant monster in his mind) I went back to suspecting it was some kind of clue.

But hey, we don't even know where this is going yet. All I was saying was that even if the show now becomes supernatural, I wouldn't consider it a bad move at all if the show continued to be as funny and engaging as its been.

Look, from the beginning I wanted this show to be proper tokusatsu show with evil and good, so stop the nonsense about "It's not like I wanted so I don't like it", 'cause it's not that way. I have no problem with the show turning into an action show, but not in this abrupt way. They director/script-writer should've thrown hints from the beginning of how he wants the show to be, things that tell us the show is more than just a SoL adventures of a super-hero-wannabe, or at least put something like that in the OP (which also shows no supernatural elements). The first 2-3 episodes, the episodes that normally set-up how a show should be, showed nothing of that sort, they just showed some parody realistic aspects with absolutely no hints of supernatural things. Yet out of nowhere, and after 2:15 hours of 6 episodes and a half, the show started introducing some mutating creatures and flying evil villain. The hints soulelle brought are subtle hints that may say the show is a "bit" not that unrealistic, which can be overlooked due to the fact that this is an anime, but suddenly a villain appears and the show turns into serious mode with a lot of too supernatural stuff? Of course people would go wtf.

I did have thoughts about "why would the show be 22 episodes for such a simple plot?", but that doesn't mean it should be ok to make things random as fuck without proper writing.

Ah, soulelle, you took the words out of my mouth. Postmodernism...
This air is all about fooling others, writing books that end fucking weird (if they even end at all : Maupassant)

I wanted to give more importance to this discussion, but litrydrow, JizzyHitler, and Candor, you guys just are being close-minded and subjectively saying you don't like it. Here's the definition of PLOT TWIST :
Wikipedia said:
A plot twist is a radical change in the expected direction or outcome of the plot of a novel, film, television series, comic, video game, or other work of narrative. It is a common practice in narration used to keep the interest of an audience, usually surprising them with a revelation. Some "twists" are foreshadowed.

"Some" twists are foreshadowed.

Breaking barriers, it could have happened @ episode 20 for all I care, it's a technique used, and if done on purpose, it's considered art in many domains, it takes skill also to back up such an intense step forward.

That ending was surprising, but it didn't feel too out of place with the whole superhero shift in the past few eps. Regardless, after the initial shock, I'm interested in seeing how the rest of the series plays out. I'll save my final judgement of this show until the end. I have a feeling it's going to be good.

I think a Gorilla with a Guillotine for stomach is pretty epic.

Well, that escalated quickly.

A gorilla that spawned metal and a functioning guillotine out of a human being from a pill. Killed 12 cops, 1 civilian photographer and even decapitated one of the cops. And then blew up in a suicide bombing. This show has just taken a direction I did not expect. The closest thing to death I've seen so far was destroyed manhood.

The heroes in this show are going to need weapons designed to kill and neutralize now. If the villains are going to play that game first.

Now we have a villain with an Anonymous mask and a cactus hat.

Too many flags in this episode, so I'm expecting a human villian show up, like in movie KickAss.

And I guess, the mutation, killing, bombing are not serious enough compare to what's coming next, since they didn't change or drop the sweet+colourful ED song.

I have mixed feelings for this episode. On one hand I'm excited about the new development. Samurai Flamenco, a real superhero with kickass gadgets fighting superhuman (or in this case inhuman) bad guys and robots? Who would've thought this show would go down that route what with the laid back tone it had for 6 and a half episodes?!

On the other hand, a part of me is saying "that was terrible." I figured this show would go down that traditional sci-fi superhero route eventually but I didn't think it would be this sudden. I understand why some of you guys are upset about the lack of foreshadowing. I don't mind it much but I don't really like it when shows leave me with a "WTF just happened I don't get it" kind of feeling haha >__< Maybe if they showed an ongoing investigation about decapitated bodies or some sort? That could at least indicate this show is darker than we thought though the idea of a man transforming to a gorilla with a guillotine on his abdomen is still too far-fetched.

What the fuck did just happen. Just what.

So is this going to be supernatural? Then I bet Hazama will form a team with others to fight this "Evil organization".

This is more and more like Tiger and Bunny.

Either way, guys calm down, just wait to see how this will turn out.
At this point it might be everything, we're still at episode 7 after all.

Personally, I don't think it's an asspull, rather I'm more interested now.

That's also an illogical argument to begin with because even if no story ever managed to do that, it doesn't mean it can't be done. Every original idea had never been done before up to that point. Before Memento came out you could say "Name a single story that resulted in greatness that started at the final climax and worked its way backwards to the beginning." Does that make the idea inherently unworkable? Absolutely not.

And I can name several, for that matter. Mostly from novels but stories are stories. The Passage by Justin Cronin. The Night's Dawn Trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton has a gigantic twist relatively late in the story that has exactly zero setup, and it's a really weird twist that sounds lame at first but he makes it work brilliantly.

I could keep going but my point was that even if no such examples existed, there's always the first time something works well, up until which that idea had not been done well and it doesn't mean shit.

Jizuz, now that's what I call a mindf*ck. I was expecting at the end of the series he would have that power ranger like suit that he uses in his dreams as samurai flamenco, and he would have more serious fights with dangerous villains. But I definitely wasn't expecting this kind of twist. Those final minutes were a surprise but not a bad one, lets see what happens from now on. I enjoyed this episode so freaking much.

Everything changed. I normally wouldn't believe this ending, thinking it was just a joke, but the whole episode was different, but it follows the progression.

This whole time I've been wondering if he's ever going to get powers, based on the intro to the anime, it seems like he might get all that. Each episode has been a drastic change as far as the main character goes, but I wasn't really sure if it would ever lead to this.

I still have my doubts but man this is crazy.

Laughed my fucking ass off.
Did that really just happen? Ahahahahaha
God damn... good stuff. I think I might be on whatever drugs that dude was taking, 'cause I really dunno what to think about that final scene. I mean, I always had a sneaking suspicion that the only way this would change is with some random event, but nothing like this.

The gore, for some reason didn't surprise me at all... especially when he grabbed that dude, I knew what was coming. But wtf lol, that was... a wow for me, why is that monster-ape so retardedly unrealistic? That's not even supernatural... that's just bizarre and as random as it gets.

I honestly don't know what to feel, not sure if that was what I secretly hoped for or not.

During this episode I had mixed feelings... at first I was thinking to myself:
"You know, maybe there won't be a "main villain" in this, and we'll get to see a softer kind of hero who just fights petty crimes, and actually has a normal life on the side."

Then, when we found out about his parents, I was disappointed because I thought:
"Man, is this Spider-Man, why can't they just have a hero who doesn't have some tragic history to make him do good? Can't he just be a naturally heroic person? Honestly I wish they would be different... I mean it was so long ago, why would that really bother him now?"

Then, I was pleasantly surprised when they did exactly that... and he said all that he did, not being fueled by it at all.

And after all that it gives us that. Honestly I underestimated the hell out of this series... I thought it was meh at first, but I think this just went up a few ratings for me, just because of the amount of bullshit at the end, and the balls it took to do that. It's everything I did and didn't want at the same time in this series. And right after I posted last night how I didn't think this series could be as serious as other superhero stories... because it was too lighthearted. I mostly hope that actually just happened. I'd be kinda surprised if it didn't, and just had a random decapitation. Edit:I always thought that the opening was extremely unfitting though... so I really shouldn't be too surprised.

It's funny, when Goto almost got his head cut off, I was ready to drop this series. Yeah... Goto's death would've made me drop this, but not a human being randomly turning into a "guillotine gorilla".

Inb4, the "invisible enemy" is the only character besides Samurai Flamenco who isn't there... Sumi Ishihara, his manager.

Also gonna call it now that Jouji is killed at some point. Assuming this series really is going down the dark/gruesome path.

I wouldn't say so quickly that there was any building or structure, there was an ellipsis between the moment they caught that guy in the park and the police raid, so the most common thing to me is to think is that omitted period of time will be explained on the next episode.
