Wow, they actually slaughtered the immigrants, how stupid of them. This is probably going to play some part later in the series, especially since this was probably what Gouda wanted from the start.

That slaughter started with Goda casually making a joke about a refugee girl killing a member of the GSDA then culminated with Goda telling that same soldier that some guy holding a steel pipe was holding a gun. Already spooked beforehand, the soldier had no choice but to open fire. Man, I just love that bastard. He's too damn good at getting under people's skin.

That's what sets Gouda apart from other villains, he never gets his hands dirty. He effortlessly makes others do the dirty work for him. Not your typical bad guy I would say.

Yup, story wise it was good but the animation is really below par!

The way Motoko and the others looked (forgive the irony)is so animeish! And what's with the refugees' clothing style? They look like they're mutants from an episode of X-men or leftover extras from Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunder Dome.

I liked this one. And I'm really starting to hate that ugly faced bastard Gouda. Section 9 can do anything they want without idiots like him getting in the way.

lol Gouda reminded me of Gene(Viper) from Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.

he manipulates people through words and doesn't care if he uses his own people.

heck the way he acts and treats others, using information as a deadly weapon. even his Aura is almost the same as him.

such a shame the guy got scared and loss of senses he started killing everyone despite them being only refugee.

also the scene reminded me of Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops where Gene was giving a speech then suddenly started telling everyone from the audience that there was a spy. just throwing the knife at one soldier and convincing the audience that another soldier from the crowd killed him started everyone to panic and killing each other.

the awesome thing is that Batou's JPN VA Akio Ohtsuka is the voice of Snake in the JPN version:P

amazing stuff :P

sure he can be a bastard, but you can't deny how good of a bastard he is :P

though he seems scared of heights XD

Section 9 got outplayed, as much as i hate it that was well played on him.

the music was superb especially the part where Section 9 got toyed by gouda :P

amazing "Dual" episode, i want more of these!!!!!

Thank you. I Didn't get notified of your reply for some reason. Does MAL send out notifications? I'll have to check the FAQ. I'm rewatching this a 2nd time, I may have to rewatch it a 3rd time. It really makes a difference to discuss it as you're watching it.

Animation quality dropped heavily this episode, but the actual content made up for it. Gouda is a cunning bastard and it looks like he finally got under Section 9's skin. They looked pretty pissed off at the end there.

You're thinking of episode 7 from the first season (this is the section for 2nd Gig).

It's the first track on here from the beginning to about 1:28, no title and it's unreleased.

There's a link to download it and all the other unreleased SAC music in the video description.

This was the episode that made S9 hit their breaking point. Gouda seemed suspicious from the start, not by his looks but because of how he seems to know everything when everybody else doesn't. Sneaky, sneaky.

That shit face guy want a revolt. Why? Two things : he intentionally created a shooting on refugees. Also, the guys that putted the Eleven Individual card in the helicopter pilot of the episode 4 look almost the same as the one that opened the cases. What I'm getting at is that there is probably an organisation that is named the Eleven Individual, but that guy from the ministry want a war between the army and the refugees by raising the tension. I don't know why he want that though, he must be someone subordinate.

I also understand why the refugees are angry. They are pretty much treated like shit.

So far it seems that every episode is disconnected or not, put a piece of its history to form a unique and intricate intrigue behind Section 9.
Plot increasingly engaging, anxiety-provoking narrative.
Great the way the story has been told.
It seems that come out in the first series, has been detrimental to the team of the Major Motoko.

"But you're to follow our instructions while we're in the field."

Yeah that kinda went out the window, I really don't like Gouda. He either is a really really obvious boring bad guy or the writers just genuinely want us to dislike him until he does something 'for the greater good' and saves a lot of people xD

None of that would have happened if Batou hadn't acted like a dick towards Gouda during the air drop.

I hope you're happy, Batou.

(I think they sort of explained a bit further the events of the last episode, but I'm not clever enough to put the pieces together :/)

Did you notice that Gouda is also a name of a popular cheese?

Ok seriously, I don't think he is THE bad guy in this series. He is just a villainous person with his own motives. It's like he is a villain on the same side as section 9. I can see him having the intention of bringing section 9 under his control.

Thrill elements have never been on the front burner like this episode before. I just realised that im afraid of anything can happen to sector 9 in a bad way thus i would say that they did an excellent job while binding audience with characters which quite few animes would be able to achieve that kind of relation.
