I've always watched anime growing up but not much, the occasional episode here and there.

But around summer of last year I decided to watch FMA Brotherhood and really loved it.

Got a few recommendations of a friend which I watched and I've been hooked ever since.

I truly got into Anime last year because of AMV hell. After seeing alot of the AMV's in those videos, I wanted to check out some of the source material, so I started watching Azumanga Daioh to begn with, and I just got hooked.

I grew up on shows like yugioh, pokemon and digimon plus shows on toonami around late 1900- early 2000. I also had an uncle that stayed with me who collected DBZ action figures ( unfortunately not figma or pvc figures but the kind you could pick up in an american toy store chain like Toys R US) which I thought was awesome. For a long time I didnt know shows like that were anime. Around middle school I watched AMVs a lot which got me to like bands like linkin park and breakin benjamin ,but also got me interested in the shows that were used in the AMVs. The first show I watched with subs was The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and my fandom just took off from there.

I got into manga (forgot how I discovered it) which led me to knowing anime.
But Naruto is one of the first anime that I watched and enjoyed.
I did grow up collecting pokemon and yu gi oh cards but I didn't know what the crap anime was at that time haha.

I don't really know how I got into it honestly. I never watched DBZ or Pokemon, but there was always something about it that intrigued me. Maybe it was a forbidden fruit thing, since I wouldn't dare attempt to watch it in mixed company. I had caught one or two blips of things on Toonami, but I really got into it when I got my own laptop and had the privacy to watch it. It was actually one of the first things I did after getting my laptop set up, was go on Hulu Desktop and see what there was. I found the show Gunslinger Girl and have never looked back.

The first Anime I ever watched...Would have to be Tenchi Muyo. I still remember running from the bus to my home to catch the next episode. I later on went to watch DBZ and Gundam Wing. Those three had to be the ones that truly got me into Anime.

Well, I grew up watching Pokemon and Sailor Moon, but I was young enough when those were on that I ultimately didn't even realize they were anime. I would have to say that what really got me hooked was when I accidentally watched an episode of Yu Yu Hakusho when it came on Adult Swim. From there I started in on YYH and InuYasha, then I picked up on the anime that was on Toonami, and I've been watching anime ever since.

Was watching TV and watched this show which I liked(it was about gaming) and in this episode they had a special daily theme which was anime and I knew alredy about naruto, pokemon and dragonball but I wasnt that great fan of and actually had almost no idea about anime/manga,and in this show they talked about some of the best anime/manga of all time. Then I saw fullmetal alchemist and from episode 1 I was in love with this show and watched the whole FMA in 1-2 weeks so amazed I was. Then after heard about cowboy bebop and after cowboy bebop I was mind blow I knew after that theres no way back and that anime/manga is for me the best kind of entertainment.
It's insane how awesome Fate/Zero is.

Well I started watching Toonami when I was like 4 and around 2 years ago I just got tired of rewatching the good ol anime like DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin etc so I starting watching new anime. Btw I still rewatch a lot. I never really got into anime as a whole. Back in like 2007 I was watching Naruto on Toonami and I got tired of waiting every week so I started watching it in Japanese subbed online. Don't give a shit whether or not it's anime. Most anime on my list are old Toonami shows. I've known about anime all along unlike most kids that were Toonami fans but once again I don't give a shit about anime as a whole.
My point being once again I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANIME AS A WHOLE.
The first anime I completed was probably Dragonball.

It started with Sailor Moon though I didn't know it was called "anime" at the time. I didn't really start to watch it like I do now until 2007 with Inuyasha on Adult Swim. From there I wanted to watch more shows and here I am today.

I grew up watching Ghibli films; Castle In The Sky, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, etc.

I've always liked shows like Pokemon and Yugioh as a kid, so from there I branched off onto One Piece, Zatch Bell and Naruto.

In like 4th or 5th grade I remember collecting Naruto trading cards (I was a Pokemon/Yugioh card fanatic by this point).

Then about a year ago me and my friend played Naruto Clash of Ninja for the Gamecube on a whim and we got really pumped about it, trying to remember the characters and storyline. After that, we both went on to watch episode after episode. (Typical Naruto gateway)

And now I'm here. Never got back into One Piece though..

First conscious of anime when I was 8, after seeing Princess Mononoke. Of course I saw DBZ, Pokemon, Sailor Moon and the like but they were cartoons to me. I loved Princess Mononoke and the mature storyline.

Saw Spirited Away at 12 years old, loved it.

Watched Love Hina and Please Teacher at 13, it was entertaining but still kinda put me off anime.

Was bored one day at 15, was fed up with Runescape so I went back to the site I saw Love Hina and Please Teacher on and asked people in the chat on the site what to watch. Someone recommended Death Note, and well I never went back again. Loved the music, the story, everything. And now I have seen many more awesome and tantalising shows. Ah, I really do love this medium.

Inuyasha got me into anime. I remember I was like 10 and I remembered about that anime and I tried to find it online because I felt like watching it. After I watched Inuyasha, I didn't know what to do so I thought of Naruto which was another anime from my childhood. I watched Naruto after and I began to love those too. After somehow I grew to love anime. GO ANIME

Watched Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball, DBZ, DBGT, and Gundam Wing as a kid. When Naruto was popular I looked into it and watched it a bit. Also watched Death Note, Code Geass, and some of One Piece out of pure coincidence of stumbling upon them and trying them off whim. I watched Toonami on occasion as I grew up and caught bits and pieces of various animes. Eventually, this last summer, I decided to try some animes I hadn't seen and got a lot more into than before.

Basically, I think of anime as like any other TV. Never thought of it as inherently children's shows, or something bad. I like anime because I like entertainment. Being drawn doesn't make the characters and stories any less compelling.

Watched Dragonball and Z when I was a kid. Also watched Pokemon Digimon, and Yu GI Oh. I later watched the Bionix block on a channel called YTV which included Gundam Seed, One piece, Naruto, Bleach, Zatch Bell, and Death Note. If it wasn't for that time block I would have never gotten into anime.

My friend used to talk about Bleach with another friend. I used to say Bleach sucked and stuff. They told me why don't I actually just give it a try instead of judging it so I did. One day I picked up both the Bleach manga and Yatsubo! Then I started watching Bleach and I regretted saying all that. xD

The first time I've ever watched anime was whenever I was 6, and it happened to be Sailor Moon. I think at the age of 10, I started to watch things like Digimon, Cardcaptors, and Dragonball Z (anime that aired on tv) Until a few weeks ago, I used to watch only stuff that came on tv but I drifted out of that phase and watch more unknown anime.

When I was a kid to late teens, anime in the Philippines was huge. It was practically a second Japan when it comes to anime watching. Broadcast television showed then every morning and afternoon plus two cable channels are running it 24/7. It was just omnipresent at those times so I wasn't able to avoid it. xD
