DBSK's Mirotic and Rain's song Rainism have been banned for explicit lyrics. My thoughts on this- I dont think they should have been banned. I mean America has alot of songs most of them with sexual content in it but Mirotic and Rainism isnt too explicit and i dont think its fair. What are your thoughts on this?

PS- In the Mirotic lyrics- people have translated Red Ocean as hymen, and Crystal as sperm. In this the case cause i think its just crazy fans being perverted

I vote "no". Why? In America, there is way much more explicit contents in today's music. Way more than the lyrics I've heard in Miriotic and Rainism. And here in America, we have kids singing songs that have too much sexuall words in it, going from a girl's body parts to whatever any artist can think up of next. I'm not saying all music in America is bad, but probably the cultures are different in both countries. I just feel that Rainism and Miriotic is not so eye-popping or a big "no-no" to parents compared to my personal experiences.

It's because Koreans are so uptight, and the netizens are freaking crazy.

First off: Different country, different rules.

That being said, yes America has much more explicate lyrics in their works. It doesn't mean that someone jumped on the governments asses about allowing them through. In fact, I know several people who won't listen to the rock stations we have here for "fear" of hearing one of those songs and thus destroying their pure virgin ears (radical Christianity is so much fun!). It's possible that the words could be slang for hymen and sperm and be considered highly sexual in nature. I've always seen Asian countries in general as far more conservative about the sexual nature of their countries than they care to be known. It's there, but it's not something you talk about outside in "polite" society.

Then again, I'm not Asian, so what do I know.

It's because Korea as a culture doesn't really condone sexual exploration. It's getting better, but something like that takes generations to grow out of. Just 10 years ago, K-Pop consisted of more happy-go-lucky songs than sexy songs. For every Outside Castle, there were 10 songs that were more along the line of Candy or Dancing with D.O.C. And the fact that these songs held the #1 spot on the Korean Billboards (Music Bank, etc.) are significant when looking at the state of cultural norms. You have a log of girls doing sexy pop now, but it took a LONG time to get to this stage. One of my favorite Korean rock ballad singers back when I listened to Korean music, Kim Kyung Ho, was actually banned from television performances for having long hair. So yeah. Give it some time.

Edit: I should note that I haven't voted because I haven't heard the songs, and would probably vote no because I'm a huge believer in censoring music for yourself and if you have kids, being a parent.
