Damn it, she is still so shy. The part on the airplane kinda freaked me out a little. I thought for a sec that she might cause the plane to go off balance. But uh ya, her power's got some issues.

I liked the tense moments in this episode.

^ things I wanted to say-

and ohh, it's somewhat getting interesting-

Shy...? I don't see her as shy. I think she's rather isolated. Like, because people always assume she's to be protected, they are actually isolating her and preventing her to change.

Even then, if she tells any of her friends, they might get sucked in with her problem just like her mother was.

I'm excited for the next episode. I'm excited about Izumiko showing her real self to Miyuki too. ^^ I'm excited for them to

Apparently this kami-vessel is a shinto practice. I wonder what god descends to Izumiko though.

I really liked this episode more than the last chapter, I like that we are seeing more about the main characters.

I have a question, this story is shonen or shojo? I ask because the manga is classified shonen.

The anime is based on a fantasy novel written by a female author, and for novels there is no classification of shounen or shoujo. There is just, well, novels.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

I was so glad that Miyuki is getting softer but then he snapped again. -_- I hope that he won't abandon Izumiko now... Also, I liked that Izumiko confirmed that he hates Miyuki. She didn't even hesitate!

Some more Lain vibes this time with the visions and people watching her. I like the mysterious feel, hopefully they'll keep it a bit mysterious and start to unravel the plot in an exciting way.

I don't think Izumiko is annoying, being weak and timid is fine since, like Spirai said, she isn't some oblivious Heroine who can't form her own thoughts. She is the way she is because she's had to grow up practically afraid of technology because she can't use it without breaking it, and left in the dark as to why she's like this.

That said, I think she'll end up getting some really good development.

Potential Romance?
The only saving grace for me right now with this anime is the (potential) romance between the 2 mains. It will interesting to see it develop. It's kinda obvious that the author had to present the opportunity for Miyuki to want to protect Izu and not do it because he had no choice. Also, I'm not sure but I'm starting to get the reverse harem vibes, and I really hope I am wrong.

Forced badass is still badass
So Miyuki is still a badass, he is just being forced. Ok, I can forgive him going full beta mode last episode IF he could have put up an insane fight against his father and only submitted because his father just had more exp. Sadly not the case, look like a 7 rating will be the upper limit for this one.

You made me cry by throwing balls at me
This story had alot of potential, I could have seen it being a contender for anime of the season..., and maybe it may surprise me with the coming episodes. I'm really hoping it gets better, as I do like the story and the characters. Lets hope for something better in episode 3. I'm expecting Miyuki to finally make his resolution about wanting to be with and protect Izu...., also we all should know what it means by when a young boy makes a young girl cry...., lol inb4 Miyuki was always in love with Izu but was conflicted because someone (father most likely) told him he could never be with her.

Good thing Suzuhara had Miyuki around. Not that I like him either. :P I swear I'm not turning tsundere over here. And I suppose without him she wouldn't have gone in the first place anyway. You know how that goes, without risk comes no growth.

I enjoyed the first episode, but this one... WOW! Things got real serious, real fast, and the main pair seems to be getting closer, at least in terms of trust and respect. When Izumiko went all Hime on them, it was a shining moment, in more than one sense!

I still don't trust Miyuki 's Daddy Dearest as far as Izumiko could throw him, and it is good that Miyuki doesn't either. I can't wait to meet Izumiko's mom!

Still waiting with bated breath for an HD feed of this beauty!

The anime is based on a fantasy novel written by a female author, and for novels there is no classification of shounen or shoujo. There is just, well, novels.

Frequently they will label novels with a demographic, but usually just male or female. (See Toradora! and Golden Time for examples). However, this one does not have that, at least on the Wiki page. The manga, however, was published in a shounen magazine. Personally, I feel like it has a more seinen feel to it, but it is too soon to tell.

Miyuki's dad is Sagara Yukimasa (相楽雪政).
Some key points:
(1) Sagara is an old friend of Izumiko's father.
(2) Izumiko's dad trusts Sagara with his daughter ! Wow !
(3) Sagara knows about Izumiko's "Himegami" identity.
(4) Sagara looks about 20 when he is actually 33.
(5) Sagara clearly knows a lot about the duty of being a servant to a very
important person. How many people would know how to properly behave
when faced with a Himegami? For example, who would have guessed that
you need to be wearing a shirt?
(6) Initially, Miyuki was rude to Izumiko in the extreme. Then he went out with
his dad. Later, they returned and Miyuki was cut and bruised all over. He was
also extremely polite and apparently sincere. He has been nice ever since.
Perhaps Sagara knows how to appropriately discipline his son, which makes
him a very good father.
(7) Watching carefully, we haven't seen Sagara do anything wrong so far.
(8) Maybe to us he does look vaguely creepy. On the other hand, this is the
kind of vibe that we might get from a high-class butler to an important person.

To keep from getting confused about the story and the characters, I
constantly refer to the Japanese Wikipedia page:
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDG_%E3%83%AC%E3%83%83%E3%83%89%E3%83%87%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AC%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB
WARNING: That wikipedia page does contains some indirect spoilers. If you
don't know Japanese, you can kind of struggle through it by using this on-line
translator: http://translate.google.com/#ja/en/

There is also an English Wikipedia page, but it hardly contains any information:

I am hoping that some RDG fans will be translating it.

We get a better feel for what this show may be about now. I think the decision to use a different voice actress when Izumiko is possessed is a good decision as there are often changes when someone calls down the Goddess or is ridden by a Loa. It's pretty obvious that her schoolmate, Wamiya, is on the opposing side, but I'm sure we'll find out more. And of course Miyuki and Izumiko appear to be bound together by a big red string even if it's not visible.

As to people feeling uncomfortable or a little uneasy watching it--I think that's just the uncanny atmosphere one should experience when approaching the gods...

Great anime, and great 2nd episode. I really felt the tension together Izumiko when they were on the plane, and in tokyo.

Now I'm intrigued. I wanna know more about those black thingies out there, and I want to know more about the spirit descending into Izumiko. Also, I don't trust that father person one bit.

PS: Having 2 VA for Izukimo and the spirit seems odd, a good VA has more voices up his/her sleeve. Take KitaEri for example. The most I've seen her do is VAing 4 different personae in AT3.

PPS: Izumiko does look waaaay better w/o those hideous glasses

Muuch better this episode, and the tense atmosphere when Izumiko and Miyuki trying to meet the former's mum was done pretty well in my opinion.

I think I just saw what RDG is capable of, now I wonder if they can pull of a decent story. So long as there's not another repeat of episode one's boringness, I'm pretty satisfied with what they're doing right now.
