The season was alright. I haven't read the manga so I can't make a comparison there (although I do plan to read it asap), however, I felt as though alot of things were left unexplained as others have already stated (ie. what rare-breeds are, more background on the special abilities, etc.). I also felt like the ending lacked closure. I would like to see a season two as the last episode showed heike and the pm discussing Rei's true power finally showing and how now he could go after that other guy (sorry I forget the name). Anyway, that at least gave me some hope for a second season but I guess only time will tell. |

Episode 13 is the last one? Seriously ? .. Personally, I don't think Code Breaker is the greatest manga out there but it isn't bad, and I always thought it might have a chance to become one of the more popular mangas, so I was glad it got an anime adaption. (though I still can't get used to Sakura's voice for some reason. I expected it to sound different). I think the animation was good and I hope for a season 2 (with more explanations) because Code Breaker deserves better than this. And I really want to see Sakura's Rare Kind form animated ;A; |

I've seen much worse. Despite all the trash talk on the forums, the broader membership of MAL is keeping this as a reasonable score: 7+. I had it as an 8 through much of the season because as a non-manga reader I found it fairly entertaining (doing a game by taking a drink every time Sakura says either "Ogami" or "Hitomi" really helps by the way). On the other hand, this last episode was a real anti-climax and pretty meh. I'll lower it to a 7 and possibly try the manga eventually (although I don't know if I can wait until chapter 100+ to get romance in the storyline). |

Well this series turned out to be pretty disappointing. It started off well and had an interesting premise; however, that unfortunately did not prevent this from turning into a rather bland affair. The story was generic and, while that in and of itself is not enough to condemn a show to mediocrity, there was not enough extra provided to make up for that flaw. For example, the characters (outside of Ogami) were mostly uninteresting or, in Sakura's case, just downright annoying. The action sequences were fine but not particularly impressive either. So, in the end, all of that added up makes for a very mediocre anime. 5 "Ogami!"s out of 10. |

As usual an average anime is getting hate from the manga readers. Well from somebody who didn't read the manga I can say that it wasn't a very bad series and it deserves to be 7+ in terms of ratings. Although like most people... I could not stand Sakura for the entire series and I really hoped that she would have been killed off.. She didn't even add that much in the end with her resistance to special powers... Still I am excited for a season 2 to see what happens with the new villain Final rate: 7/10 |

Good fighting scenes, at least i got hold of the story. Though i didn't like Sakura, not that she's annoying or anything, but i felt that most of the time she's just in the way, same thing with the puppy. Overall, not good, maybe somewhere near decent. 7/10. |

It was a good episode imo, average for an ending one, having in mind there will be more seasons. Hitomi was bound to die, I guess, but still I'm not sure if I'm OK with Oogami's sudden(and quite conventional, you gotta admit that) power up... even if it was set beforehand. 1. Characters. +1. Despite the MC is quite undeveloped as a character, there were good ones, like my favorite - Toki, and also Hitomi and Heike. I'd like to see Toki and Heike getting so much more screen time.. 2. Atmosphere. +1. The city atmosphere was very well attained, I just love it and I could watch the anime even for nothing else but it. 3. OST. +1. Cool OP and great ED. I can't say that I was disappointed from the OST in any way. 4. Animation. +1. Very well dran characters, landscapes and all, Sakurakouji was the only one with sucking design. 5. Background story. +1. I'll count Hitomi's story for the actual background story and I'd say I loved it. I don't always like a story as much. 6. Storyline. The plot actually sucked big time, I don't feel like this anime scores in that category. 7. Ending. +1. It was a cool ending for a first season like this. I can't say that I'm disappointed. 8. Fight scenes. +1. The fights weren't bad, and they actually had a kinda original flavor. I guess I gotta praise Kamijou for that ^^ 9. Drama. +1. Well, we didn't get the best character/plot twists and such, but there was a bit of drama that felt in place. I'm not gonna cavil 'bout it. 10. Overall affect. +1. Despite this isn't the best anime out there, and it didn't get optimal use of it's 13 episodes, I actually love it. It kinda reminds me of SDK in that manner :D Overall score: 9/10. I'm not disappointed of this anime even the slightest bit, I just can't wait for S2 ^0^ |

I never understood people who speculate too much after watching something. I loved the anime, gave it a 9. Made me root for each character in every battle ( well except for sakura who is annoying as hell), made me cry at some point towards the end, was a great way to spend my time and the opening was literally AWESOME..and that is pretty much enough for me . I'm guessing they'll make a sequel to clear all that "the one being sought" shit..looking forward to it. |

Once again another pretty fun anime is being slated by the manga fans that can't get over the fact that almost no TV adaptation of a story ever lives up to the original, so sometimes you need to watch the show on its own merit,*sigh* give it a rest guys, yeah? Its an ADAPTATION NOT A CARBON COPY. I didn't read the manga, so I'm with this guy on almost all he says: OneHellOfAuser said: I never understood people who speculate too much after watching something. I loved the anime, gave it a 9. My exception being I can't give it a 9 cos a) the end of ep13 was pretty damn coirny and formulaic for an anime, and b) some key things I wanted to know more about never got explained, like what the hell a rarebreed actually is and why those with powers have powers at all.. I was really hoping they'd let us in on some of that in the final episode or two, but hey there's always the OVA or a 2nd season right? ;) |

I thought the anime was pretty decent, gave it a 7 (good). I believe it had alot more potential in terms of action, as it didnt't satisfy me likes other action/fighting anime. Anyways the last episode was cool, if there is a sequel I'd defenetly watch it. (Code: Forever?) I might check out the manga, I hear it's much better than the anime. |

Ju-da-su said: First question: Who's that guy anyway? He's in fact an ex-Code:Name, Code:Seeker, also known as just Seeker or the Seeking One (Sagashimono). He's in fact the final boss of the next arc, the Seeker Arc. Seeker was originally a Code:Name, agents of higher rank than Code:Numbers within Eden. However, after he came to know of the truth behind December 32, the key event of this entire series which the anime threw right down the drain, Eden marked him as a threat and tries to get rid of him. After turning against Eden, Seeker formed his own army known as Re-CODEs to battle against Eden, and to answer to your second question, Yukihina was actually part of the Re-CODE. He used to be Ogami's "guardian" as well, protecting him when he was really young (Ogami was targeted because he has the arm of the Emperor and is capable of using the blue flame...I won't go into the significance of that, since it'll be a long story though...) and was the one who gave Ogami his glove. To answer to your third and fourth question, I have two theories that can make her survive in that condition, and yes, her lost form is in fact one of them. First was that Heike actually didn't attack Rui, but only pretended to attack yet help to protect her. Since it was clear that he was playing a double agent by pretending to side with Hitomi, it's very possible as well that he only pretended to do that so he can gain more trust from Hitomi. Second...Rui's lost form. If she fell off that bridge and lose her power, then she should be able to survive that thing...easily. Rui's lost form is a mermaid. She can certainly just dive under the water and get up somewhere safe. But it didn't really explained at all in this anime. Great, I wonder what's next for Yukihina... I hated it how this cliche ended up like this. |

JeffreyZin said: But it didn't really explained at all in this anime. Great, I wonder what's next for Yukihina... I hated it how this cliche ended up like this. Did they ever explain ANYTHING in the anime though? Because throughout the entire series, the only explanation I've seen is Hitomi's motive. Not even near to enough for an anime that didn't even follow the manga at all too. :S That's one of the reasons why I, as a manga fan, hates this anime. They didn't explain ANYTHING! They put in stupid bits and pieces of things, yet they not only cut out something much more important to the story, but didn't explain a damn thing about any of those bits and pieces they put in. Remember episode 2 when they showed a bit of Sakura's past? After that, did the anime tell you ANYTHING about just how significant that is? They didn't even MENTION it again at all, not even once. All manga readers know just how significant that particular scene is though. I simply hate how the anime staffs just slap down many bits and pieces of the things in the manga without even thinking of going further into explaining them. Would've been much better if they just leave all of those alone. :S |

In to episode 3 or 4 the story went to different direction already. All Code Breakers was introduced in 1 season, make it the anime so saturated. The intro of the characters doesn't do justice to them. A lot of comedic situation being cut and characters bonding seems forced. bla bla bla... are you sure we read the same manga? i think you are the only one who give such higher rating from a person who read the manga and watch the anime. The ending show that they went separately (in the manga Ogami never quit the school), which i hope stays like that, so there will be no 2nd season. Even if they want to to the 2nd season, imagine the amount of bit and pieces that they need to change to make the smooth transition to the next arc. (ie Ogami magically back to the school, Yukihina fights with Prince which is totally never happen in the manga) Yeah... |

(ie Ogami magically back to the school, Yukihina fights with Prince which is totally never happen in the manga) Yeah... That, plus...the fact that the anime decide to make ALL the powers seem so wrong. Why did Hitomi's electricity seems so overpowering at first, that it'll even "deflect sound"? What is the ability of Ogami's Satan Blaze again? Wasn't it supposed to the inextinguishable flame that burns everything the user touches to ash...at least before Ogami took out his ring? Not only does Ogami manage to somehow "send" the blue flame flying throughout the entire season, he can use that flame to "engulf around a sword without burning it", and Sakura can extinguish that flame even without using her rare kind's power? Whut? How the fucking hell can Toki and Heike "fight in mid-air" before Toki can control geomagnetism, and no explanation for Heike either? Why the heck is it that in the end, the only explanation of any power I've seen in the anime is the one where fire conducts electricity thing, while everything else seems as though it's just like that because of pure convenience of the story writer? Why would they show the Seeker and do nothing about it, you asked? Isn't it the same reason as why they show Yuuki, Rui and Yukihina? They're just trying to put in more and more characters for the fun of it, that the story became so shallow. In the end, I don't see how adding those three contribute anything good to the story, other than just making it more messy and for their damn fanservice. Seeker is no different. You ask about Shibuya Mansion, but now, I can't even see HOW are they going to get to that mansion. I don't even see the reason why would Seeker raid into Yuuki's place and kidnap Sakura anymore too, in this case. What are you expecting? That they'll just walk on some street, accidentally came across that rundown mansion and think "It's cool. Let's try going inside"? Don't forget, the thing around Shibuya Mansion all begins with Hitomi giving Sakura the key, which he didn't in the anime. Or are you saying that Sakura might accidentally just pick up that complicated key on the street or something? Well, seems like a logic the anime will use though, sure. *nod* If they're going to just make 13 episodes of it, then they better NOT getting any of these in to begin with, for the more reason if it doesn't contribute to anything as of now! Why bring in Sakura's past if they're not going to say anything about it in the whole season? Bringing in too much info will make everything so messy? If they're going to think about that, then they wouldn't have bring in Sakura's past, Yuuki, Rui, Yukihina and Seeker in the end...and to make everything worse, leave out Hitomi's key and don't even let Hitomi mention about "December 32" at all. They already made A BIG MESS in the anime with how they bring in way too many things just for the sake of their so-called "fanservice" the story no longer make any real sense, so...what're you talking about now? :S Definitely don't want a second season. Just no more killing of the story for such a great manga already, seriously. :S |

Hah, Hitomi still got him (the prime minister) in the end. It was an OK series for me, initially I gave it 7/10, but Sakura... wait, I'll not go there, since almost everybody else did that already. This gets 5/10 from me, found nothing new or interesting so I'm moving on. |

I did read some spoilers so i kind of know what happens. Just from the anime stand point they are dumb. I'm pretty sure the manga is better but the anime left a bad taste in my mouth. Toki was awesome too, when he hit his own dad, and when he walked through the street, and people are complimenting the cops, and no one knows about them, that's what Hitomi felt, their death is in vain, they will be forgotten, no one will remember they ever existed. Poor them. Sakura is not innocent, not naive, she's plain stupid, no brainer, and was made to be that way. She keep stopping everyone, stopping one after another, and it's all pure luck that she had survived till now, she is just annoying. Oogami, that asspull power, overpowered Hitomi? Ok, so I haven't exactly finished the series, but I can tell you its gonna get an awful 2/10 from me. Maybe 4/10. It sucks... the only thing that is good in this series is the comedy, nothing else. Sakura is first seen angry Ogami killed people, but when her life is in danger along with another HUMAN BEING...she is livid over a dog on her last leg dying...seriously!?! She sees cops acting like evil people, a man ruined by drugs and a poor daughter made into a prostitute....but that isn't worthy of death any more than an innocent man deserves to live....WHAT? She sees wholesale slaughter of innocent children, children being used as a catalyst in two guys weapons, and she thinks the bad guy doesn't DESERVE to die? I mean, at least say killing him isn't going to really make up for his bad deeds or something kinda sane pls. Sakura is the biggest ass you ever knew, she's always complaining at Ogami (even gonna give him a talkin' too for actually carrying about her classmates....what? Is she for real?) Sakura's mother looks no older than her, and is always carrying that spoon....for what? the dishes she serves DON"T EVEN USE THAT THING....oh my head... Sakura, though she's never sought why Ogami kills, declares mindlessly he must be feeling terrible..what kind of self-adsorbed fool says that? The anime doesn't even show her having the slightest interest to know why, just Sakura declaring things like she is Almighty God. She's ok with Ogami threatening to kill a girl if she wants revenge someday, but Sakura is now ok with that? WHAT!?! Like, there isn't even the slightest attempt to think about it logically other than the pathetic, out of character "give her something to live for" nonsense. What part of Sakura even hinted that way? I've just gotten started here...these are just the instant obvious trash I remembered..don't get me started about the trashy emotions that are animated (or the lack thereof) or the ridiculous nature of Sakura blindly jumping in front of a ball of lightening to "save" some Code Breakers....what the heck...I mean at least attempt to have some coherency.. And if you think anyone at this point would care if the series got better, let me just say the only people who would share that feeling would be the Code Breaker fans who trucked threw the series for their love of the manga. No wonder it fizzled out. OW OW OW OW |

I really had absolutely no gripe with the show til maybe around episode 8 or 9.....the repetition of "Ogami no!" and "Why Hitomi?" basically sums up the last 4 episodes....literally...the show's premise interested the hell out of me, which is why it pains me to rate this so low...but i mean...you give me a highly irrelevant female lead whose VA got paid to say literally 2 words (Ogami no!) the entire show, and you put me through those last 4 episodes of shit, and still refuse to kill off completely the prime minister? Ah what a painfully long episode. . . .I nearly was forcing myself through it. . . It had such a promising start and a very disappointing end. |

This show had a lot of potential at the beginning, but it just went nowhere. Maybe they rushed it too much, but the whole thing just seemed completely pointless. The villain's motivations were ridiculous, the resolve came out of left field and violated the established rules, and Sakura was surprisingly useless for someone who was immune to the powers being thrown around. |

I basically disagree with everyone on this site! I loved this anime so much! 10/10 Definetly! I really hope for a season two so they can explain the "Rare species." ^_^ |

I laughed. Sorry, Hitomi. <_< I know you were trying to be all sentimental and stuff, but I couldn't help it. I just couldn't take any of it seriously. I really thought I would like this series a lot more than I did. I liked the whole idea of the code breakers. Toki and Yuki always made me happy. But between Sakura and Hitomi's prattling, the back and forth "don't do this" and "too bad, I'm doing it anyway" shtick, and the whole lot of nothing that was answered about Sakura, I was left feeling utterly disappointed. Overall conclusion, it started out great, then it was okay, and then it gradually fizzled out to an ending that felt empty and corny. I've certainly seen worse, but I think I'm just going to write this anime off and go find the manga. |
